❤ Karma Is Restored, Order Is Restored

Posted 10 years ago on Sept. 20, 2013, 11:47 p.m. EST by jart (1186) from New York, NY

I don't want any more nonsense on this forum. It stops today.

I've been putting additional security measures in place and over the coming days I'll be keeping a close eye on things to keep the script kiddies away.

All of you who've had your karma affected by downvote bots, it should now be largely restored to the score you deserve since I've written a script to recalculate it.

Over the next few days: I don't want to see any impassioned meta discussion about moderation, conspiracy theories, FUD, or concern trolling. If you have a problem, speak to me directly and I'll respond within 48 hours. You can private message me or email .

Let's get back on track as a mature political discussion board.

I'll also be implementing in the near future a more transparent and accountable warning/banning system. I make no promises on an ETA at this time.

Why not simply get rid of the stinkle? That way only positive support can be expressed and any negative or benign comments will just remain as single points.

Thanks, Jart.

Hear, hear. It's very off-putting.

Jart, thanks for your time, it's a shame such things are needed. This forum could become a think tank of the people more powerful than any other media group, but like all things the time must come and work must be done.

oh I think things are exactly as they appear, it's just most people don't bother to look, of course then again "All the world's a stage..."

I wasn't really talking about the forum exactly just a more general thought, I see the forum as a collage a representation of the moment, it could always become much more, like a computer attached to a 3d printer, thought can become real, but the connection must be made, the cable ran, this could become a tool that money cannot control as the cost is low, however money can interfere and so it does...

oh yes all is not lost by any means, has "Jart" not done an awesome thing already? by just creating the forum. oh money will do it's petty attempts but compared to the power of actual truth, well money ain't shit.

Busy with another project, still up at the computer but doing other work, Tuscon is about 125 miles, hour and a half or so on a good day.

curious, when did you realize jart was/is thrasy?

[+] -6 points by AlaskanHusky (-6) 10 years ago

jart likes money more than anarchy. she chose google over anarchy. real anarchists don't work for companies that do NSA and stuff like that. perhaps she was a mole from the start. if not, it's clear money can buy her.

she was bought, then took control of the site by blocking out the NYCGA, then appointed bad moderators on purpose. we don't see her around much because she's trashy. she makes Occupy look bad by attacking the bad moderators who fight back. this creates an infinite loop of insults.

both are programmers. it explains the bad moderators. it explains why jart doesn't care about Occupy or the site. it explains why thrasy is always here (he's a paid mole jart/thrasy). it explains why he was never stopped. it explains why the NYCGA detached itself from this site, just like many other groups. it explains why this site never followed Occupy principles like trying to work together instead of having jart as the director in charge.

you might be right. your theory makes a lot of sense.

maybe trashy is jart's male personality? justin/justine?

it does seem strange that she's addressing a non-issue here and pretending it will somehow make the forum better. i don't even think there are bots. very strange. meanwhile, gnomunny and our other friends remain banned.

No problem :)

[-] -2 points by Builder (4202) 10 years ago

Hey, it cost me five hundred points to say that? LOL.

No biggie. Good one Jart.

[-] 6 points by jart (1186) from New York, NY 10 years ago

Karma should stabilize pretty soon. Things just might be a little erratic with all the housecleaning that's been happening. But hey, you've got the #2 comment of the day.

[-] 0 points by Builder (4202) 10 years ago

LOL. I've said several times before that the whole points thing has led to some rather crossed wires on this board. I'd be comfortable with no points, but that's just me.

Do what you have to do to get this place back on track, Jart.

I come here to get information, and to share what I've found. It's what the place is all about, IMHO.

[-] 7 points by jart (1186) from New York, NY 10 years ago

Well, now that the point system will start working again, you might warm up to it. At least I'm crossing my fingers...

[-] 1 points by Builder (4202) 10 years ago

Aaah yeah, it's working. LOL.

Every one of my posts on this thread is now in the negative. Meaning seven or eight down-votes per post on some of them. This place is a zoo. Chuckles.

Now if you could do something about the madd ban hammer. You fixed the post-a-point and it would seem I've been banned again, sort of. Posted on the Goldman Sachs thread, can see the comment but it didn't move the thread counter or pop it back to the top???? In fact, the comment disappeared at save, but then reappeared at refresh?

edit: this post posted ok???

[-] -1 points by Builder (4202) 10 years ago

It's visible to me.

[-] -2 points by geovind (-56) 10 years ago

btw, thanks for letting me know about this post!

[-] -3 points by geovind (-56) 10 years ago

Yes, this one worked, but right before I posted here, I posted a comment to this thread http://occupywallst.org/forum/goldman-sachs-states-bailouts-to-continue-to-atlea/ and it didn't take. Pretty innocuous observation that the Fed is shooting for 6.5% unemployment and my thoughts are that perhaps we should be looking at the labor force participation rate since there are so many permanent unemployed (these people drop out of the unemployment numbers once their unemployment insurance runs out) and too many underemployed.

Anyway, I guess I'm not banned, it's just now and then comments get dropped or something. I take it that's not happened to you?

[-] -1 points by Builder (4202) 10 years ago

No. Unless it's been overlooked.

I've heard that shadow bans can be seen by the poster but nobody else.

It's none of my business what other people think of me.

As I've mentioned to other regulars here, forums often get to the stage where the regulars start openly attacking eachother. Familiarity breeds contempt.

I tend to not go there, although there are times when I have, and no doubt I will again.

Suffice to say, I'm not that interested in debating personalities these days. I'd rather share facts, and learn from others.

Half a century on earth tends to mellow some of us.

if there was just a way for users to bust people, perhaps by exposing everyone's point-giving activity to date with a summary of +/- beside their points total. It sounds like a self-moderating system that would deter people from abusing it.

Now imagine if the + and - numbers were links to a search result of that person's twink/stinkles... intrusive but effective. just a thought.

[-] -1 points by geovind (-56) 10 years ago

Would be nice if we got a point for our posts instead of starting at zero. Kinda hard to build any karma unless you have whatever score it takes to twinkle/stinkle and thereby get a point when you post. That little glitch was part of the fall out when you made the change about who can vote.

[-] 6 points by jart (1186) from New York, NY 10 years ago

Should be fixed.

[-] -2 points by geovind (-56) 10 years ago

Cool! Thanks

[-] -3 points by HalfManHalfDog (-9) from Cleveland, OH 10 years ago

It wont until the person with the ability to moderate is addressed, and its three favorite people get a does of justice and kicked off for the constant harassing and lies they perpetuate.

This is blatantly obvious to anyone who visits for even the shortest time.

GirlFriday has the trashiest mouth of all time, Zendog threatens violence to anyone it feels like, and Shooz goes around claiming anyone who has a brain is a libertarians tea partier.

The moderator is picking winners and losers, and the three people who get a pass on anything they say have never occupied a piece of pavement or grass, yet speak as if its their way or the highway.

Until that is addressed, expect more chaos.

This is a horrific representation of occupy. And until the power center is adjusted and justice is restored, more of the same will happen. Just as it does where any level of oppression occurs.

Doesnt matter if its a website or an entire country. When power corrupts, and it always does -hence horizontal occupy- expect the rising ups to always be more than the power can handle.

The more is rises up, the more they squeeze. The more they squeeze, the more rise up.

The revolutionist mindset.

Well, it takes a reactionary mindset....to react.

I choose to not react.

To not be drawn into the circular issues.

It's been two years now.

Easy enough to recognise the humps and hollows.

Abraham Lincoln: “Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man’s character, give him power.”

I'm looking at 50 signs in my living room ready for March on Monsanto. I'll be stopping by the peace protest on Gandy this afternoon to go discuss some other things. Our sustainable energy conference for October 14th is going very well.

I do my part, and these nuts here can kiss my ass.

[+] -4 points by HalfManHalfDog (-9) from Cleveland, OH 10 years ago

It is, its just discouraging to see this place- one of the central places for occupy in the country via online- turned into a pro Democrat landmark when in reality its so much more than that.

People are sick of the D vs R nonsense. And thats all you get on here, is Vs R nonsense.

I do more organizing than the four with all the points ever thought about doing, and yet Im the right winger. That lie and attack has been going on for as long as the site.

Toss in their obsession with Libertarians- this is the only place you see it- and its obviously a skewed representation.

Personally, I'm not going to let them destroy something I'm actually part of. They can kiss my ass. When they want to start reflecting what this thing is about, and stop unilaterally deciding whats good vs bad, the place will go back to a point of discussion.

In the meantime, they have pissed off so many people there is no way to stop the uprising.

[-] -1 points by Builder (4202) 10 years ago

Well, I'm not reacting.

I'll continue to contribute, when I have news to share.

Just be aware that by flaming those you disagree with, you are feeding their fire. Playing into their game. Extinguishing your own fire, to add fuel to theirs.
