His basic point is certainly valid. People can't help but have some natural bias. Media members are no different. If the top names in news happen to find your political view acceptable you're going to get favorable press. That can only help with the electorate.

No different with Occupy's image and acceptance problems. The media using the word riot instead of demonstration, or a picture of a demonstrator breaking a window instead of a policeman using his night stick on a protestor. Worse the media simply downplaying or ignoring Occupy altogether. These things all shape public opinion.

I agree with your points but consider this;

We live in the most awesome country that has ever existed, but acceptance of the fact that the "elites" and the media determine who is selected to run Washington is not even a major story. It confirms the coup is accomplished, as if we couldn't tell already. Democracy is dead.

People tend to be lazy and not look beyond a headline and a paragraph or two. If democracy is dead it was killed off by the general population through their apathy.

Apathy continues to be the problem. When the headlines scream that democracy is dead, (and something would have to spark that), the masses will recognize their power is in democracy. The masses don't even know yet that democracy is dead.

''We live in the most awesome country that has ever existed'' and '''Democracy is dead.''' !!! What's wrong with this picture ?!! So, hubris & 'Kool-Aid' much ?! Consider :

From the PCR link : ''You are motivated to find truth. You can think outside the box. ... You can see through propaganda. ... The US Constitution is the product of 900 years of human efforts to restrain brutal government and to make government subject to law. It only took Bush and Obama eleven years to get rid of it.'' & @ MsS & u, also further consider ...

“The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country.” And finally reflect upon :

e tenebris, lux ? ...

I think people forget that the US Constitution was the product of 900 years of experimental government. It was an attempt to create a more fair and equal system of government. Government that governs only with the consent of the governed! Hopefully we can be highly resolved;

"That government of the people, for the people, and by the people, SHALL NOT PERISH FROM THE EARTH"

Alas, what a sick joke demoCRAZY, deMOCKERYcy is turning out to be - this government ...

1) "OF The People" - The 99% - WE, The People - Us, the Vast and Potentially Overwhelming {if only!} Majority ;

2) "BY the People" - The 1% - take your pick of Politicians, Corporatists, MSM etc. ;

3) "FOR the People" - The 0.01% - 'A 1% of The 1%' ; "THEM" - the Usurious Banksters, Larcenous Plutocrats, Corporate Kleptocrats and Dynastic Despots.

Viva O.W.S !!! Viva The 99% !! Viva Real Democracy !

per aspera ad astra ...
