Many of you have probably both read and seen the work of activists such as Noam Chomsky, Chris Hedges, Naomi Klein, Michael Moore, etc. They are all wonderful people who have contributed with many good ideas and useful analyzes.

I will now in this post draw attention to one that also deserves attention: The very knowlegable Johan Galtung.

Johan Galtung is from my home country, Norway. He is a Sociologist and the founder of peace and conflict research. In 1993 Galtung Founded the international "Transcend" network for peace and development.

Galtung has spent much of his time studying various empires, both previous ones and current, and their impact on society.

In connection with his research on conflict, war and empires, he has also launched the predictions of the future fate of empires. In 1980 he predicted that the Soviet empire would collapse within 10 years - exactly what happened. In 2001 he predicted that the American empire would collapse by 2020. So we'll have to see if he´ll be right on that one as well.

I heart conflict resolution folks. There are several issues that Galtung mentions that are very important. I am surprised that there has been little discussion of Yemen or Turkey in the last several years. I am surprised that there is no recognition of any of these countries relationships with Russia or China—unless it is coming from a place of fear. It is discussed on forums far more than in MSM. I think that this lack of information creates the inability for people to see the legitimacy of the other side. However, I disagree that Americans (the regular Joes and JoAnnas) are incapable. More importantly, I believe that this is an intentional marketing of stupidity.

I also agree that Afghanistan is an unwinnable war and those little pipeline dreams are not going to be realized. The US has to stop backing the oil industry. They have chosen this industry over all others consistently to the detriment of all others. I think that this is crucial to change. It is the continued pursuit of this goal that will eventually force the irrelevancy.

We have already had a large anti Israel and growing hatred of Jewish, Muslim as well as Mexican people in this country that is mind blowing. We are already seeing the scapegoating.

it's hard to make predictions especially when its about the future. Maybe choose more objective men i.e. men who don't hate the U.S. Maybe you should pay more attention to Norway and its future muslim invasion.

You haven´t payed attention. Galtung loves the United States.

Actually, atheist, or christian (or whatever belief they may have) Swedes top the "invation" list.

I dont have a problem with muslims (or any other religious or ethnic group) as long as they act in a peaceful respectful manner etc.

I have a problem with reactionary sexist and anti-gay attitudes that can be seen in som religiosu groups, but that goes for all of them.

anyone who says "U.S. Empire" is not pro American. The U.S. doesn't have an Empire. You should have problem with Muslims, you are a small country and the muslim population that you have there is already causing problems.

Actually, some months ago we had a pretty big problem with a right-wing anti-muslim extremist...

I don´t think I want to continue talking with you. Your opinions are really awful. So I should have a problem with an entire group of people, most of them who Ive never even met, just because they belong to a certain religion?? I´m sorry, this discussion is over. I hope you´ll change your mind soon. Yours sff

don't be such a euro-wimp. no one supports that crazy man who killed those innocents. But to put your head in the sand about muslim immigration is a big mistake. Look at your neighbor Sweden, has dealt with several muslim terrorist attacks, high rates of muslim immigrants raping native swedes, immigrant muslim dominated cities where the swedish police are afraid to go into, and anti-semitism. Your ancestors kicked ass, time for you to defend yourselves and your country.
