Forum Post: It seems humans cannot be trusted to run any type of government. Would you accept a world run by non-humans then?

Technology, Government and Artificial Intelligence:

As long as people start with why, we will always have a need for a higher, more powerful and more trustworthy authority. Mitchell & Webb - Vectron: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=agJ2xCionlY

Government seeks to spy on its citizens to keep the peace and keep order, but do we trust government - as impressive as it is what with having on its side the best stalwart military, scientific and mathematical minds the nations of NATO has to offer - that is still, at the end of the day, run by men with power they could abuse?

One of Occupy Wallstreet's motto's is "A Better World Is Possible" and I ask this question here because you are the ones who are not afraid to reject the status quo and the way things are, and many of you are anarchists who wouldn't mind abandoning current civilization for a new one -refer to thread http://occupywallst.org/forum/wild-proposal-raise-1billion/

Perhaps the challenges we face are not Republican, Democrat or even American problems but perhaps they are human problems. Would you live in a world where government is replaced with a single artificial intelligence with the surveillance capabilities the government has now and will have in the future but built to secure every individual's self interests as if we were all equals? (what a revelation!) Would we adopt the American constitution for this new state?

Main Point

If we can have a perfect world why not aim to bring it into existence and make it a reality? Instead of going through this game of humans against humans like all of the generations before us, dying, and then having the next generation who have not learned those lessons go through the same thing. Western society has tried for millenia to push men past their limits but we are the same as we were 2039 years ago when a stable republic existed for 500 years but was easily broken down by a military general who proclaimed himself emperor with his army to support him (that old you and whose army quirk in our personality).

Also, artificial intelligence is to be a crowd-sourced and purpose-driven endeavour due to the impossibly limitless scope of what intelligence is (Do we need the greatest a.i. on Earth to know how many stars there are in every Andromeda galaxy and what their positions are at every minute? More useful knowledge would be knowing the position of all of the cattle in the mountains and hillsides of Afghanistan), which means it will be a culmination of the efforts of many inept, inefficient and greedy humans, already making it more adept than the minds of its individual constituents. This will be a case where the whole is lesser than the sum of its parts.

Also, old but https://www.mturk.com/mturk/welcome Make a bit of cash on the side why dont you, you buncha hobos ;)

They can't be trusted to "run" without one either.

In the video there is clearly a hierarchy of authority with Chancellor and Ambassador like in the Federal Republic of Germany or the Federal Galactic Republic in the Star Wars films, with the addition of a super authority resembling a God but actually "helping" with the endeavours of the people.

the world is on the brink of revolution, crazy is good (Crazy but rational, based on all of the lessons of history and the current level of technology we have assimilated). Help me rationalize this vision of the world I would like to create.

I've decided I will start a project on Kikstarter to make this a reality on the colonies on Mars where we will need all the technological aids we can get and it shall be an experiment of a new form of government and social structure just as America was founded as an experiment.

If I had the choice of basing this intelligence off a world view, however, I would base it off of this evangel of truth of how the world of man really works https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jxiT30N6ti4

People educated to be rocket scientists come up with the formulas that run Wall Street. Wall Street has their culture of being unaccountable.

We're already there.

People with power have this mindset that they need not be accountable. They change the physical world and stand back to see what you have to say and complain about it, whether it's rocket scientists, Nazi physicists who were captured after WW2 and were forced to work on developing new rockets for America (these guys once calibrated a rocket to fly in a projectile path towards Mexico to try to get them to invade the US, and after it was successful and the rocket landed on Mexican land tensions were high between the 2 countries after that event), American physicists like Richard Feynman and Oppenheimer who helped build the atomic bomb, politicians like Dick Cheney who deceived the world into allowing American armed forces to invade Iraq and all the rest. The world is made of those who have and accumulate power and those who do not, because the physical world allows it, regardless of any inter-human agreements made.

But I don't know what you mean by we're already there because I don't see the world implementing a new governmental system where an omnipotent and omniscient(through surveillance) intelligence is governing the world.

Its programing would be like a constitution that would actually be followed!!!

Listen, I'm a realist, futurist and technologist and I see a utopia where flaws in humans have been systematically answered and provided a solution to by technology and law (like how the constitution easily predicts and deters unimaginative thuggish brutes like those in law enforcement and the armed forces from forcing their will on others and making us believe we shouldn't be allowed to have what we want, a sentiment that the elite mock all of us with because they are allowed to have everything they want while, and as a means of achieving this, they do their best to have us believe that we cant-by pitting ourselves against each other).

If we can have a perfect world why not aim to bring it into existence and make it a reality? Instead of going through this game of humans against humans like all of the generations before us, dying, and then having the next generation who have not learned those lessons go through the same thing. and I prefer this one http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0343818 if you want to use Hollywood as a means to predict the future

I prefer this one

Zen, the best 'good' technology the government has come up with in the past few years is that half-broken website for Obamacare, as their main efforts have been concentrated on finding more targets to blow the shit out of with their hellfire missiles on their drones and the $10 million backdoor exploit in encryption software led by the NSA. Even the government knows decision making is futile without the technology to employ it. Let us develop the technology and do the hard things before the talking and show of prideful confrontations among peers begins.

I don't know what you mean by endless series of choices when I've said this a.i. must be purpose-driven for that exact reason, so it is not endless. And it may seem like nonsense now, but it is nonsense being worked on all around the world http://www.wired.com/wiredenterprise/2014/02/watson-mobile/ http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2589183/The-men-Facebook-Tesla-PayPal-unite-create-computer-works-like-HUMAN-BRAIN.html

Developing the software would only require a small team of developers and the data would be crowd-sourced like with Amazon's MT, but the obstacle would be integrating the a.i. with all and I mean ALL of the government's surveillance tech, meaning every camera at every street corner and every computer they've managed to turn into their slave. If you are not capable of this feat or believe you have the ability to replicate such conditions with a 'new civilization' then you are all washouts and know nothing of how the world works nor how to make it work. You want to know why it's only me and hc? It's because most of you have realized this fact. Pfft.
