Forum Post: Is this worth Occupy's attention? Green Party of California "Money Bloom" - February 4, 2012

I am organizing a "Money Bloom" for the California Green Party, and hopefully starting a trend for more Green Party Money Blooms going forward. Is this worth the attention of Occupy? Is this something that could be deemed a worth while strategy for effecting political change and getting corporate money out of politics (as the Green Party does not accept PAC money)?

I believe we need a 'money out of politics' coalition. I haven't heard anything specific on this issue from the Green Party but I have a feeling they are in support. Rocky Anderson and Buddy Roemer are both running campaigns on 'money out of politics' platforms. Anderson and Roemer would create a convincing Left-Right coalition, I would support Green Party involvement in a coalition as well.

Independent (from Corporate money) candidates are not getting enough attention, probably because of the orgy of money and press coverage going into the GOP Primary, I think a coalition would get more press than any of these movements will by themselves.

One could say that the Green Party is a "money out of politics coalition." They invited Rocky Anderson to join and run for President on their ticket. In my article I have a link to another article I wrote about how to run campaigns without a lot of money (as in, overcoming money in politics).

I think we need to start winning some election before we can have a system that doesn't respond to money as much as the one we have. It is the people in power that make the system the way it is.

The Greens have supported publicly financed election, open debates, equal ballot access, etc.

The Green Party is a Party, not a coalition. I understand why they would invite Rocky to run on their ticket, and I also understand why Rocky declined. I hope the two movements can work together to get some momentum.

I do too. A Party could be seen as a coalition, but I understand what you mean. A non-partisan coalition would be nice, and I'm sure they are willing to work on that. The Justice Party will be a good addition to the American Political System.

I think that Rocky and Jill will do best promoting the concepts and issues they are campaigning on, but as far as electoral victories, we will be most effective in local, state, and even Congressional races. For that purpose, the Green Party is far better suited as a venue to make that happen.

There is a lot of potential for progress this year if we work together and stay focused. I'm not on the mainstream social networks, if you are please help promote the Money Bloom.

I'm voting for the green party. They can become the democrat's answer to the tea party by steering the democrat party in the right direction. I think they haven't picked the nominee yet, but I'm almost positive it'll be Jill Stein.

Stein seems to be who will win the Nomination. I think she'll be great and will help promote candidates nation wide. I think we can get a Green in Congress, or higher State Office, this year if we focus properly.

What state are you in?

Florida.

There is a Green Party Meet-Up group in Daytona Beach, not sure if that is your area:

Oh cool, I'm actually in Florida right now. I got the chance to interview Anita Stewart for an article (she is a Florida Green that won her Water and Soil Board seat with less than $300!):

She is now the co-chair for Florida. Great person!

It'd be nice to talk about something productive, anyone want to talk about this idea?

NO

Like Ron Paul, even if the Green Party won, they would lose:

Thanks for posting about H.R. 3166. What do you propose to do about it?

If we lock them up for passing NDAA, we won't have to worry about SOPA, PIPA or EEA:

How do you lock them up? Are you proposing bring charges against them? Have you consulted any lawyers and gotten them on your side?

Maybe you should read some of the links I have provided for you:

I have read your article, it talks about a protest on Feb. 3. How did that go?
