The Masters of the Universe are getting ready to shove an Austerity Package down the throats of Americans.They are dragging their feet,but they will have to do it soon.They apparently are feeling nervous about it,and the nervousness of The Masters is spreading downwards through to their Tools,Indentured Servants and Slaves.One thing I happen to know about the Masters of the Universe-any level of discomfort of any cause makes them Super Grouchy and it is in times like these that they abuse the Servants.

OK,Bensdad-you lovable old curmugeon-THEY-The Masters of the Universe-have names.They are all Billionaires,or well placed individuals who have received permission to eventually parlay their tens or hundreds of millions into multi-billion dollar fortunes.To name a few?Lloyd Blankfein,Jamie Dimon,Mike Bloomberg,Bibi Netanyahu,The Bush Family,Eric Prince,The Walton Family,The Rothchild Family,The Rockefeller Family,The Koch Brothers,Sheldon Adelson,The Murdock Family...and so on.These Billionaires and others are the owners of our government.At least 80% of state and federal elected politicians are Hand Puppets controlled by these Oligarchs.For the moment,they are acting cooperatively.There are Factions among them-they are also surrounded by a crew of Wannabees like Trump who would do ANYTHING to get in their club.So the nightmare is true-we are all condemned to a horrible,cruel and terrifying version of High School that never ends.We have got to do whatever we can to destroy this class of Oligarchs because they are dreadful,perverse,murderous.freakish incarnations of The Popular Kids and Jocks of High School.
There needs to be a study of trolls.
Why do they troll? Are they taunting? Are they curious to hear our responses to their right wing propaganda? How often do they switch to real discussion? What do they get out of talking to us?
Do they regard us as evil or stupid? Do we regard them as evil or stupid? What about the gender roles in trolling?
Bottom line: I think communication across the ideological divide is fascinating, and I wish we could be a little more tolerant and exploratory.
I know we've all had nasty experiences with right wing crazies, but I'd like us to step back and reflect on the lessons of these exchanges.
I'd like to hear from others on this.

Some trolls are corporate shills and PR fronts, some are ardent right wingers, some are sad, loney, angry - mainly men, I'd say. Hard right wing thinking can not stand the light or love of leftist logic I think. I know most don't get 'left and right' because they think that The Democratic Party or Obama are somehow 'left', but really they are only 'left' viewed whilst being deeply embedded on the right.
The MSM are corporate owned. 'Liberal' is just a word that means you could invite that person to a dinner party, but liberals can hold the most unthinking, prejudiced positions too. Main stream politics in our country only occupies a tiny spectrum over there somewhere to my right, because I'm old enough to know 'left from right', lol.

I think a fair number of trolls have never really been exposed to real leftist thinking. As you point out, their notion of left is often just mainstream dem.
They dismiss us rudely, but I suspect that we add a piece to their puzzle.
After all, where would one acquire the rudiments of leftist thinking in the US? Even people who have attended real 4 year colleges often get just a course or 2 in the social sciences or humanities, generally a stale intro.
My experience with rightists sometimes reminds me of listening to meat eaters trying to justify themselves to vegetarians. "If we didn't eat meat the cows would overpopulate the world." They're improvising badly because they've never been to this strange argument.
PR trolls from ALEC, the NRA & other right-wing think-tanks and lobbyists infest these threads for sure but are not able to maintain poor arguments so must resort to subversion. And please also try to see -

They are relentless in their attempts to change the narrative from anti-corporate to anti-Obama. That is their agenda here. It should tell us something about why, while re-electing Obama wasn't the solution, it was a first step to a solution. The Republican Party needs to be over . . . no more than a piece of history in America.

I tend to not pay attention
If a poster uses specific examples and numbers, I tend to pay attention
I am surprised at how easily I get pulled into debates with the trolls and the crazies. I avoid it very well in person, but the internet hooks me!
