As most of you know, part of the budget deal made last week, allows us to continue to use that evil, energy sucking invention, Edison provided so graciously to us over 100 years ago. Early in December I was going to buy some, to have on hand for those areas of the house the phony lead laced fluorescents don't give off the proper light I need. I didn't purchase however, as the cost was prohibitive: 7 dollars for four 60 watt bulbs. It looks like Obamas jobs czar pal, who just so happens to run the the non taxpaying company, General Electric, is laughing all the way to the bank.

Hopefully LED lights will become more popular.

  1. They don't use mercury like CFLs
  2. They last 10 times longer than CFLs
  3. They use less power than CFLs
  4. They are brighter than CFLs and Incandescents.

We don't need the government legislating what we can use. People will buy the LED lights because they are better in every way.

Yep, for the government to have it's hand in picking market winners is a bad bad bad deal for free enterprise, and nothing good has come out of it for the people, other than billions up in smoke.

RE General Electric, is laughing all the way to the bank

Yes it always struck me as odd that manufacturers sought and welcomed this ban Why would anyone welcome being told what they can or can't make? ;-)

Here's why http://ceolas.net/#li12ax

(articles, documentation and copies of communications re GE, Philips etc and Dept of Energy etc)

I've been converting to LED's and hope the prices on them will fall as rapidly as flat panel TV's, actually faster would be nice and there is no reason for it not to happen fast.

The power supply of my server mother boarded five axis drawing computer, will easily run 5 of my big flat panel touch screen all in one machines, which have far more processing power and storage.

Shutting off two 650 watt towers, not to mention the big CRT's cut my electric consumption by more than half. Going flat panel LCD/LED bigger tv instead of a big CRT or rear projection, huge savings and amazing quality.

However, the florescent bulbs worked well for me for quite a while and do save quite a bit of money, even in my dark cave.

The only reason they shoved these new bulbs down our throats was because GE makes double the money off the new bulbs. The Obummer admin is backing this 100% because GE is one of his supporters not to mention that the CEO of GE is also buckwheat's so called job czar
