Maybe it really need to ge worst before it gets better!

If you elect Obama we may can expect more humanistic conditions. Will corporations still dictate and influence politics? Will the superpacks continue to influence media and media brain damage?

Will it activate a majority to the streets and reach out for fundamentally change?

What are the options?

[-] 2 points by bensdad (8977) 11 years ago

here is the ONLY option to sever money from politics

Because of the Supreme Court's Citizens United decision,
we cannot accomplish anything significant,
without FIRST ending corporate personhood.
Because 83% of Americans already agree on it - we don’t have to explain or persuade people to accept our position – we only have to persuade them to ACT based on their own position. Pursuing this goal will prove to the world that we, at OWS, are a serious realistic Movement, with serious realistic goals.
Achieving this goal will make virtually every other goal –
jobs, taxes, infrastructure, Medicare – much easier to achieve –
by disarming our greatest enemy – GREED.
I feel that using the tactics of the NRA, the AARP an the TP – who all represent a minority – who have successfully used their voting power to achieve their minority goals - plus the Prohibition Amendment tactics – bringing all sides together - is a straight path for us to success

Our current project is developing and implementing,
a voting bloc petition to create voter support for candidates throughout the country.
We want to vote for candidates who pledge to support a Constitutional Amendment that includes:

Overturning the 2010 Citizens United Supreme Court decision which enabled the flood of secret money that is drowning our political system,
Overturning the 1976 Buckley Supreme Court decision which equates money and speech,
Eradicating the corporate personhood rights invented in the courts that
have enabled corporations to buy our democracy,
Supports campaign finance reform to level the playing field for all candidates.

The People For the American Way found 74% of Americans
want to vote for candidates who support an amendment.

Koch and the tea party and ALEC have ..the money –
….and the government –
……and they use them.

We have
..the people -
….and the vote -
……and we must use them!

About an hour ago I voted for Romney in our early voting primary. In my mind he's the lesser of two evils. No good choices this time around.

For Mitt Romney! Obama do hopes but so do nothing. Romney is clever man.

[-] 1 points by SteveKJR1 (8) 11 years ago

I din't know Rommney had four surplus wives.

[-] 1 points by bensdad (8977) 11 years ago

Romney's great grandfater had five wives
Romney's great grandfater had 12
If willard was president in 1880 www ?
what would willard do ?

[-] 1 points by TrevorMnemonic (5827) 11 years ago

lulz I was glad to see this post was a joke.

Does the whole one man and one woman thing go against his religion? I thought Mormons were all about multiple wives? I don't really know much about Mormonism outside of an episode of South Park.

[-] 2 points by bensdad (8977) 11 years ago

Mormons , like catholics - want MORE
thats why catholics ban birth control - even condoms
catholics never got into multiple wives like Moses & Solomon , but the practice existed until Utah wanted to become a state, and the US said OK -
if you put an anti-polygamy law in the Utah constitution.
This was around 1880 and many polygamists incluiding Miles Park Romney moved to Mexico [ with 5 wives ] in 1890

[-] 1 points by LeoYo (5909) 11 years ago

Actually, it was at that time in response to the Mormons that the US confined marriage to being a monogamous institution throughout the land. Such is America's love of liberty.

That South Park episode pretty much said it all :)

having four wives is biblical, just ask abraham, isaac, jacob, david, solomon. The unchanging God who is the same in the old testament and the new, and modern day with no testament of the true and living God. What is more biblical is when a man isnt a "busybody involved in other mens matters" , a quote from mathew.

The scope of business should not be limited by Male to Male relationships only

demand elections be national and state holidays

You know, you are a complete asshole. Go fuck yourself.

You guys want to denigrate slave holding founding fathers or persecuted religions from 130 years ago. No regard for those times or how things hve changed.

Based on that focus Hitler should be a hero to OWS because he tried to exterminate the first usury bankers i.e. the Jews.

[-] 2 points by TitusMoans (2451) from Boulder City, NV 11 years ago

My goodness, you've certainly formulated a well-reasoned reply.

I don't want to denigrate the founding fathers, nor do I want to deify them. They were simply humans like you and me, nothing special, just living creatures on an infinitely small planet, almost unnoticeable in an infinitely large universe.

I don't believe the Latter Day Saints, Mormons, have ever achieved the status of a religion, but of a cult, sort of a bizarre offshoot of Christianity.

I apologize if that offends you, but before you rush to the defense of the Latter Day Saints, I really suggest you study their beliefs. If you can reply (with a straight face) that their beliefs come from the mind of a reasonably sane man (Joseph Smith), please, present your arguments. Oh, yes, please, leave out the name calling. It really does make me ill,.

[-] -1 points by Pequod (17) 11 years ago

I have read the Book of Mormon and I know Mormon history, very very well. I dont judge religions, they all have crazy beliefs.

I do know lots of LDS and a very large percentage are decent people. Thsts more than i can say about most other faiths.

[-] 2 points by bensdad (8977) 11 years ago

I am not criticizing polygamy or mormon practice
I am criticizing the pompous hypocrisy that IS the republican party

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

You do realize you will be attacked for picking on (R)epelican'ts?

It's been happening more and more around here, although I'm still waiting for proof of a real (R)epelican't that supports OWS..

[-] 0 points by Pequod (17) 11 years ago

No you arent. And you know it.

[-] 2 points by TitusMoans (2451) from Boulder City, NV 11 years ago

I agree, though I don't in any way think you can say (with a straight face) that the Book of Mormon, the angel Moroni (bologna), or Joseph Smith make any sense.

Yes, most religions have some crazy beliefs, but no true religion (that I know of) is founded on such ridiculous nonsense as Joseph Smith wrote.

[-] 1 points by Pequod (17) 11 years ago

And Mary was a virgin, Hebrews slaughtering a lamb on a stone and not eating pork, and stoning women by Muslims is not wacky?

There is a Holy Spirit? God was a vengeful tyrant in Book one of the Bible and then got sensibilty training for Book 2?

Yes Smith was to my thinking a loon but so was Mohamed.

[-] 1 points by TitusMoans (2451) from Boulder City, NV 11 years ago

Most religion is based on blind faith; so adherents choose whatever rituals suit their concepts of a supreme being(s).

To me, the evolution of such concepts over an extended period of time, as in the Bible, indicates a progression in thinking to better fit the vagaries of human nature, which does explain the shifting nature of the Biblical god from Genesis to Revelation.
