What are your thoughts People? From the DAILY KOS.

Please read and consider the issue:

Dan, please sign our petition to Speaker John Boehner and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid demanding they pass legislation making all federal firefighters eligible for federal health insurance. Click here to sign.

Many of the men and women hired by the federal government to fight the wildfires in Colorado, and around the country, are doing so without health insurance. They are classified as temporary employees by the Forest Service, and as such, are not eligible for federal health care or retirement benefits.

It would take an act of Congress to fix this. While Republicans in Congress don't want to pass any expansion in public employee benefits, refusing to help the firefighters who are risking life and limb in order to save entire towns in one of the important swing states in the nation could be politically disastrous for them in an election year.

Putting pressure on Republicans and congressional leaders to help firefighters get affordable health care starts by showing them tens of thousands of voters are paying attention. Please, sign our petition to congressional leaders demanding they pass legislation making all federal firefighters eligible for health insurance.

Keep fighting,

Joan McCarter, Daily Kos

Yes they do deserve healthcare but they should drop Federal healthcare and make all Federal employees eat obamacare like we are going to have to do, unless it gets over turned

the pay out to private insurance companies is a money racket to keep that sector of the market moving

that sector is funding the hospitals through a system of rules too long for any sane person to read

Sending me to a government website promoting the ACA, doesn't make me feel warm and fuzzy inside; nor does it sway my opinion. The ACA is corporate welfare.

[-] 2 points by bensdad (8977) 11 years ago

Yes it is.

Can you describe ANY other medical re-system that could have been passed thru congress that is better?
Can you state anything on the ACA site that is not true?
Obama is not a king who can order anything. Congress is a roadblock that can only be
removed one way

No but BO could have taken a stand on Single-Payer; or at least the public option like he campaigned on. Instead he met with the healthcare corps. etc., behind closed doors, and the result was a corporate & government collusion and a repub plan with a mandate that he WAS against; that he NOW supports. -

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7FHzqY_9IPI He did an Etch-A-Sketch.

In this economy, when people are barely getting by, and living paycheck to paycheck, why in the world would you FORCE them to spend THOUSANDS of $'s that they don't have; or pay a fine for not buying this extortion? People are hurting man, and they just can't afford it. The ONLY reason is because it benefits the corps and it makes us slaves. If he couldn't improve the HC system, he should have moved on to the other important issue .......... JOBS !! Instead he sends more jobs overseas by continuing with similar clinton & bush trade agreements.

He hasn't improved anything with this plan; only perpetuated the same system that makes us #1st in HC costs & # 37th in HC service.

Now he's of the opinion, that "The private sector is doing just fine". -

I have voted in every election and have not missed one. Not because I think it makes a difference anymore; but because it's the ONLY tool I have. Although I DO vote; I think that a more resemblance of the truth can be found in this mans words -

Doesnt matter. You are locked into one of these two corporate parties, it doesnt matter what they do/dont/fuck up, and you will probably die as a supporter no matter how hard they screw you.

The power of the media is very strong.

[-] 2 points by bensdad (8977) 11 years ago

so there is no difference? GM = no GM ? expanding Medicaid = not expanding Medicaid ?
Sotomayor = Scalia ? Killing Binladen = not killing Binladen

I was for exapanding medicaid instead of punishing those who dont have coverage.

If you believe that Bin laden crap, that is on you.

Thank you. The radio is killing me with this stuff. I don't care what you call it.

By all legal definitions it's a tax. But so what? Our taxes go to the military killing people in other countries. Why can't our taxes go to helping people live in OUR country?

Forget circumventing the truth: it's a TAX. Let's just own it.

"Why can't our taxes go to helping people live in OUR country?" Ah, the Presidents plan.

[-] 2 points by brosefstalin (139) from Wantagh, NY 11 years ago

If it's anything like the Massachusetts plan, it won't change too much. The health. In MA, the Romneycare plan funneled most of the health care profits to just two companies, and the very basic health care plan isn't very good at all. I can't imagine Obamacare is going to be that different.

I am talking about the War money.
