''The Con-man Cornered : Obama and the Democratic Debacle of 2014'', by Prof. James Petras :

Now the real question is .. 'Dare You Read It', frf ?!! If so, I'll take any questions but keep it cool please.

[-] 0 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 9 years ago

congrats once again on sweeping out the evil Dems

[-] 5 points by ShadzSixtySix (1936) 9 years ago

Did I really do that ?! Or did OWS or this forum do it ?!! OR was it the Treachery & abject sell-out of The 99% by the DNC ?!!! You frf - after a cranial-rectal extraction exercise - need to read the following article and yeah, I know that you ''don't look at links'' but go on - make an exception - just like I did for your link from 'The Atlantic' above and re. your other reply below, I will get round to it asap and revert but perhaps you ought to reciprocate and ''break down the important points'' too :

multum in parvo ...

[+] -4 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 9 years ago

The evil Dems you hate so much have lost many seats and control of the Senate you must be ecstatic!

You do hate the Dems all your posts say so.

[-] 2 points by turbocharger (1756) 9 years ago

Yes, and he hates Republicans too.

What is it that most of you boomers just cant wrap your heads around with the term "Another world is possible"

Its almost as if you dont understand OWS at all?

[-] 2 points by spinoza34 (400) 9 years ago

Your comment has some truth to it, unfortunately. But as time goes on though, more and more older people become aware that we are at a very precarious point in our history. For some people, it's a crash course....an epiphany-like course... 'cause they have suddenly found themselves in jeopardy of losing their home because their son or daughter can't afford to pay back their college tuition loan (that was collateralized with their mortgage), while working at Walmart. The fact that their chance for a golden retirement may have been squandered by unaccountable banksters, or that they have an up-side down mortgage, etc., etc. ...might add to their awakening ...and f..ing anger too.

Don't underestimate the degree of discontent in this country from the older generation.

[-] 3 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 9 years ago

But - Hey - on the bright side - not everyone needs to be slave labor at walmart - cause the CEO of Starbucks announced that he is determined to hire at least 10,000 returning or returned veterans to work at his sweatshops for a wage that you can't live on - so - there are bright spots still out there in this economy - Hey?

[-] 0 points by WSmith (2698) from Cornelius, OR 9 years ago

But then there is such a block of easily played Voters, all bets are off.

The People Just got played into a giant WIN for the 1%-GOP!

Hey, on the bright side, people could WTFU!!!

[-] 2 points by flip (7101) 9 years ago

he doesn't - that seem obvious

[-] 1 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 9 years ago

Yet he posts not a word on that, you are known by your deeds so all in all a huge win for those of you who hate the Dems there will be fewer Dems in the US House than there has been in over 60 years. Shadz is ok with living under the rules written by the GOP as long as the Dems are not in charge and this is how he posts, he has had a huge win, I feel otherwise i understand the Dems are not perfect but allowing by omission of action or any other reason the GOP to win is stupid and harmful I realize that may not be convenient but it is still the truth.

[-] 1 points by turbocharger (1756) 9 years ago

Alan, you are obsessed with politicians. Go seek help. Or here's a novel idea...

Go work with some? I mean, you clearly have the time and the passion. And yet here you are, for years on end, telling everyone else what they are doing wrong while you yourself does really next to nothing.

Your time isnt out yet, youve got at least another entire decade. Why dont you try walking the walk instead of just talking all the time?

You may find it rewarding.

Go get used for corporate interests for a while. Put in hours on end, get lied to your face, etc. Get it going, get it hot, and then get waxed. After some experience with that, this entire voting thing may not seem like the end all be all to you.

[-] 1 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 9 years ago

ahhh a threat? really? are you that stupid? does it really bother you so much that I take a few minutes once in while to see what the site is doing? or are you just tired of getting your ass kick?

In any case you just had a huge win the GOP have the biggest house Majority in over 60 years, will you get some kind of bonus for that or do you just get a straight salary from your GOP corporate interest?

[-] 1 points by turbocharger (1756) 9 years ago

Thats not a threat, its a suggestion. Consider it.

[-] -1 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 9 years ago

So does the GOP give you a bonus for every poster you can run off the site?

[+] -4 points by WSmith (2698) from Cornelius, OR 9 years ago

What is it that you dumb/misinformed people just can't wrap your heads around with the term "democracy" where Another world is possible, when we all PARTICIPATE!!!! Because we out-number the 1% Bastards!!

Or are you in favor of 1% domination?!

[-] -3 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 9 years ago

have you read the story in the post? do you darn? why don't you break down the important points and post them here, or do you darn?

[-] 3 points by ShadzSixtySix (1936) 9 years ago

''The news that Senate Democrats are adding Elizabeth Warren to their leadership team raises an important question about the trajectory of the party's most popular figure not named Hillary Clinton: Will she be co-opted by the establishment?

''It's a query that naturally comes up every time a politician who has made their mark as an outsider joins the official hierarchy in Washington. Warren's brand relies on her popularity with liberals who believe the Democratic Party of Obama, Clinton, and another Senate leader, Charles Schumer of New York, is no less a patron of Wall Street than is the GOP.

''It remains to be seen whether Warren's new role will be more than symbolic. With the exception of the top spot and a couple of other specific jobs, there's not a whole lot that members of congressional leadership do besides sit in meetings and help the party hash out policy and strategy. And there's an argument to be made that Warren is getting short shrift, being given a nominal post at the bottom of the ladder while Reid and other leaders win reelection despite presiding over the loss of at least eight seats and the majority. (Recall Warren's experience with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, when President Obama named her to build the agency she championed, but wouldn't let her actually run it.)

''As for whether Warren would have to become a saleswoman for policies she may not support, (Adam) Green said he was unconcerned. "Elizabeth Warren has kept it real since entering the Senate," he said. Added influence, even in the unpopular halls of official Washington, remains important. "The whole point of pressuring from the outside is to change what happens on the inside,"

{Excerpted from your link but with my italics & btw, EW does understand D's are "corporate sell outs!}

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Those were the points I took away from your piece from 'The Atlantic' frf. Desperate and optimistic ; too-little-too-late (that's not an opinion btw - it's a straight out fact - given the midterm results) ; potential co-option to be ; sop to the progressives and 'smoke & mirrors' - are my judgement on this piece & exactly wtf were you expecting me to say ?!!! I'm NOT a Dem-Pols-On-The-Hill lover ffs !! So keep pissing in the wind frf and keep trying to work out wtf OWS is all about ! Meanwhile, read this by an OWS off-shoot ...
did you get any points from your link? if you did post them, congrats again on your great midterm victory defeating the evil Dems, do you really believe OWS like the Green Party is about electing Republicans? That would explain why so many people fighting for fair wages and such have lost interest in it.
[-] 4 points by ShadzSixtySix (1936) 9 years ago
Are you on the autistic spectrum ?! Do you think that just repeating your absurdities somehow validates them ?!! I've read your link and critiqued it whereas you don't analyse your own nor read others' links, so how d'you expect to show your line of thought ?!!! The ''people'' have not ''lost interest'' in ''fair wages'' nor all the other things that they need ... Corporate Controlled Dem-Pols-On-The-Hill have done that and the ''people'' know they've been sold off, sold out and sold down the river by your side of the crooked coin & nobody expects shit from the fkn Repugnants - but Democrap Pols are The Real Traitors to The 99% !!!!
Still tongue tied from all your shouts of joy from the evil Dems losing the Senate, your hatred of them is really paying off, I guess you could be celebrating keeping the status quo alive and well, by making the GOP look as good as the Dems so they both stay in power.
That is your plan right, make people think they have no real choice so they both stay in power and the GOP can keep making the rich richer, because hell if people knew that the whole damn thing would fall apart because nobody would vote for the GOP.
[-] 6 points by ShadzSixtySix (1936) 9 years ago
I think you'll find that I've been very far indeed from ''tongue tied'' in my dealings with you, frf !!! Constantly repeating mendacious clap-trap, will NEVER make it true, you graceless nincompoop !! You really need to look beyond just 1 or 2 (s)election (re)cycles & realise the truths in front of your myopic eyes & stop constantly spewing gobbledegook like your pal WendySquid/JiffySmith below ! Now maybe read these :
Get this factsy - The DNC/Dem-Pols are just a paler version of The Repugnants & yes, the voter base is massively different but on The Hill they are owned by the very same Corporate MIC !!! They have enabled Wall Street and The War Machine & screwed The 99% with Wars Of Choice and Austerity !! Yes, you'll get Hitlary in 2016 .. but do you think that that'll make any or much difference to The 99% in the U$A or abroad - especially without the likes of 99% focussed folk like Dennis Kucinich or Cynthia McKinney ?!
Btw, tho' of course I'd rather you did read the links and comment .. nevertheless I don't ultimately give a flying fck whether you read the links or don't - as they go down for you or others to read later and for the standing record.
Duopoly, triopoly, quadopoly. quintopoly, ect. As long as the concept of extreme personal wealth is on the table, individuals from this opoly and that opoly will be ready and willing to sell out in order to attain it.
That being said, America WILL elect a new President from one of the two major parties. The more fiscally liberal candidate will almost certainly be the Democrat. For that reason, I intend to help get the Democrat elected UNLESS a Republican with a proven willingness to compromise is nominated in which case I may support him or her depending on the circumstances.
Then again, I'm not aware of any fiscally liberal Republican. To the best of my knowledge there has never been any such thing.
By the way, I see the conservative posers (at least four of them posing as disgruntled liberals) have been marking down my comments in order to reduce my overall user rating. That's fine. From now on, I will post the following link with each comment.
Letting the GOP win is like not wiping your ass after you crap, you stink up the place but you get to smell your own shit, people with their heads up their ass often love the smell of their own shit.
[-] 3 points by ShadzSixtySix (1936) 9 years ago
Voting Dem is like wiping your ass ... NOT a pleasant, polite or appropriate subject of conversation at a dinner party, after coming back to the table from a trip to the toilet .. but, wtf was the option if you are a left / liberal / progressive, right ? However millions of people feel utterly dejected at the lack of a genuine choice & - the extent to which Democrap Pols-On-The-Hill and DNC have sold out to the 1%, 0.1% & of course The 0.01% & their Corporations. Now you really need to get that through your gin-sodden head !!
As you well know, I have sweet fck-all to do with The Repugnants but I suppose you subscribe to Josef Goebbels' old dictum : ''If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.'' - but on this forum, all you do when you bleat blindly for Dems, is look schtupid !!! Are we all clear now ?!! I suspect not but we'll persevere and oh, btw .. see what WSmith thinks of Greens below !
[-] -2 points by WSmith (2698) from Cornelius, OR 9 years ago
As an Agent Provocateur, a fraud, it's you who pretends, as well as lie. With all your ad nausium complaints about Dems ~ as if they were even a fraction of the evil Cons are, whom you are tellingly silent about ~ YOU should be the band leader for Third Parties. Fan Club President! But the only thing you promote is denunciation, slander, vilification and misinformation, against Dems. Which makes you a de facto campaigner for the RepubliCon Cult. Old news, we know.
I think a legitimate and viable Third Party would be a great addition to our political system. I think with Instant Runoff elections this could be accomplished. But Cons would fight to the death to obstruct Third Parties, unless it was Tea Bag, Libertarian, or some other RW pseudonym. Because a Third Party like the Greens would make stealing elections nearly impossible for Cons.
But despite the RepubliCon's scandalous obstruction and sabotage of late, people who care about America and Americans would be hard pressed to find a better record of achievements than that of Dems. It's hard to believe that people who act like they know something about politics don't know about the myriad Dem accomplishments. This was not hard to find:
"The social and economical gains we have made in the last seventy years are worth fighting to keep. Short changing our children and grandchildren, by turning over a bankrupt, environmentally spoiled world with a crumbling infrastructure in a nation intellectually unprepared for the future is not an option. We will not go back!"
A win which was Self-Fulfilling for the Oblivious and Snotty American Non-Voters (encouraged here) ~ who in their fathomlessly arrogant ignorance have enabled the political equivalent of Ebola and ISIS to run roughshod all over and through America's Political-Governmental world.
[-] 3 points by gsw (3406) from Woodbridge Township, NJ 9 years ago
Yes I had to hold my nose and vote for the slate of wimpy Dems, and they won somewhat in my liberal- light lands, but in much of the country the Dems look much like the repubs, yes slightly more rational.
We need minimum wage increase, but dem pols should be in the street leading the charge, not being silent or mostly mute with whimpers, and no minimum wage raise in 7 years.
This is still an OWS site. The same 2 choices won't lead to much increase in votes, as the pols do what they want, it has been researched and proven. You are correct on voter suppression and equal rights, but MLK also,said we need economic justice, too.
Ows did not cause the Dems to loose once more .
The Founding Fathers of the American constitution, explicitly warned against the dangers of party factionalism. Madison, Hamilton, and Washington expressed the belief that factions would create divides that would ultimately dismantle the government. These sentiments can be found the The Federalist Papers, specifically Federalist 10 and 51 written by Madison....wikipedia
Why not America based on rationalism, and expose the parties for what they are, dividers and the ruin of government and future. Say no To factions
Warren as an alternative to Clinton? Watch out, or least we be fooled again. Elizabeth Warren's foreign policy stance, that foreign policy that's been getting us U.S.A. into so much trouble, is about the same as Hillary Clinton's as is the same as the rest of the core of the Democratic party:
https://firstlook.org/theintercept/2014/08/28/elizabeth-warren-speaks-israelgaza-sounds-like-netanyahu/
If the Democrats ever want to win another presidential election again, they need to get off the warmongering facist neocon balony,
I am sure the GOP can look forward to many more wins bolster by the efforts of Dem haters everywhere. It is so easy to hate so hard to work for real change.
[-] 4 points by UnFriendlyObserverC (43) 9 years ago
frf "so hard to work for real change"
Your idea of "real change" is to support THE Political establishment?????
In your mind supporting the status quo will bring "real change".?????
"real change" will come from supporting a political party that thrives in a money based political system?????
We have given both duopoly parties a chance to make real changes that benefit the 99% and they have failed again and again and again and again and again and again and again. Yet your big idea for "real change" is to keep going back to drink from that poisoned well???
[-] -3 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 9 years ago
I can see you are late to the party so to speak I have outlined this path many times over the past few years but here it is in simple form:
The current system of two political parties depend on each other to stand, much like an "A" frame ladder.
Take out one of the legs and the ladder falls.
If the people were made aware of just how hard the GOP work to keep their wages low, the GOP would fall.
The bloated Dems would then break apart and an "Elizabeth Warren" type people's party could emerge.
But Elizabeth Warren is but just another "Corporate" hag in disguise; just like Obama (so much for that great black hope.) Warren's policy platforms are nearly the same as war whore Hillary's on all major issues. With Demcrats like that who needs Republicans!
The way things are today there is really no loss in not voting Democrat. No reason to waste one's time with that farce.
Perfection does not really exist! And the difference between Warren flaws and 1%-GOP abject Evil is LEGION and LIGHT YEARS!! You and RW propaganda are the FARCE!!
[-] 5 points by Shule (2638) 9 years ago
Congrats on your big expose on revealing yourself as a Democratic Party Hack out to get that Bootlicker of Wall street Clinton elected.
Instead of the Democratic party trying to subvert OWS into voting for the Hillary hag, OWS ought be subverting the Democratic party to get somebody decent to run for Prez.
Damn you must still be drunk from the party but your love of the GOP and is well known as you celebrate this huge historic win giving the GOP the biggest House Majority in over 60 years!
Are you paid by the GOP to defeat the Dems or do you do it out of love of their make the rich richer policies?
My guess is that Romney and Ryan will run against Clinton and/or Warren. We better get started exposing Romney for the greedy and corrupt wealth concentrating bitch that he is.
And not only here but all over the web and radio.
I'll be on the lookout for well written and informative rips on Romney. If you don't mind, I'll save them and repost them all over the web making clear that they were copied from another site.
A timeline history of his job cutting with stats would probably make some waves.
By the way, I see Clinton as greedy, corrupt, and wealth concentrating also but as the lesser of two evils.
[-] 5 points by spinoza34 (400) 9 years ago
Voting for "the lesser of two evils," or for someone who we believed to 'be telling the truth' is the reason we are so screwed, and why most of us are here. For me, anyone who has an R or a D after their name is part of the problem.
[-] -1 points by StillModestCapitalist (343) 9 years ago
Are you suggesting we don't vote at all? If not, what act of God are you counting on to give us a better choice?
[-] 5 points by spinoza34 (400) 9 years ago
No,I am not suggesting that "we don't vote at all", but by YOU suggesting that we should vote for "the lesser of two evils," you seem to suggest that things will be different this time if we get more Democrats in. Both parties have been irreparably corrupted for a long time, and for the things in life that are the most important...THEY do NOT work in our interests.
By continuing to promote one party over the other on here, you are just continuing the left/rigt battle that helped get us here in the first place. Bernays would be content tho...
[-] 6 points by Shule (2638) 9 years ago
Yep, that is about right. I wouldn't say, don't go and vote for whatever lesser or greater one feels, but I surely would not hang my hat for change on any election. Only alternative action (outside of what is sanctioned by the rulling powers) can bring about change..
[-] 4 points by SerfingUSA (451) 9 years ago
You are so right. We must remember it was only in 2008 that the democraps were voted President and majority in CONgress and the Senate. They did astonishingly little for the 99%. All they did was bitch and moan about ONLY having majority control. They needed "Super Majority" control, or nothing could get done!!!
That was the Democraps Big Chance and they BLEW IT. When/if you get your "Big Chance" in life, you better take it!
All they did was force us to purchase corporate healthcare. The ACA in comparison to other western industrialized countries is pathetic.
Most people get few Big Chances in life. Some get one once in a lifetime, and far too many never get their Big Chance. In 2008 the Democraps were given their Big Chance to prove establishment politics is legitimate. The only thing they proved is that our political system is a sham. They proved that no matter which duopoly party is elected, they will always come up with excuses of why they can't do things for the 99%.
[-] 5 points by grapes (5232) 9 years ago
You nailed it. The Democrats were the ones blocking the agenda that had got them into majority in Both chambers of the Congress and the control of the Presidency and the executive branch. I suspect that it was fun and profitable for pork-barrel politics to hold up the "unstoppable" train of even your own party to get some gravy.
Then when things got jammed up, the Democrats said, "It is time to campaign for our next terms in office. Let us not get nailed down with doing anything hard before facing our constituents." They retired and went back to their districts to campaign WITHOUT doing anything while in office. "It's too hard!" Yeah, if it were easy, anyone else could have become a representative.
[-] 3 points by Shule (2638) 9 years ago
Yep, when Obama and the Democrats won back in 2008 they were in quite a pickle. They had the power and a mandate for change. What did they do... If anything the whole affair pulled the cloak off the Democratic party, and U.S.A. politics in general.
[-] 1 points by grapes (5232) 9 years ago
They had to fight for gravy among themselves to fumble the ball and then drop bombs to make up. Mickey Mouse roared around the world and wielded more influence for Pax Americana.
[-] 5 points by spinoza34 (400) 9 years ago
Thanks, I believe your perceptions to be right too. What really seems to be different to me, today is that, when a person has reached near, or perhaps the actual pinnacle in life as our representatives have....that unlike in past times... not near as many of them do the right thing, the noble thing. I guess the aphrodisiac-like pull of money for them out-does integrity by a long-shot now.
[-] 4 points by trashyharry (3084) from Waterville, NY 9 years ago
The Democrats really are the Total Package.Losers when they Lose,Losers when they Win.Classic controlled opposition.Then The Base can get all fired up and get solidly behind Total Losers who have an Uncanny ability to grapple Defeat from the Jaws of any and all political victories.The Democrats are willing to do whatever it takes to make sure nothing ever changes,which is exactly what the Kleptogarchs want.
[-] 1 points by StillModestCapitalist (343) 9 years ago
I am disgusted with the very concept of political parties. I would much rather have individuals subject to the corrupt influence of extreme personal wealth than to have two opposing parties made up of individuals subject to the corrupt influnce of extreme personal wealth AND partisan puppet loyalty.
Unfortunately, our choices are almost always limited to one major political party or the other, the lesser of two evils. I appreciate your position but I will not disregard my belief that one major political party, in general, does slightly less harm than the other.
If you watch the videos you will probably wonder, like, me: Will they believe anything the guy in the white pants has to say about what happened? He seems to have witnessed the whole thing, up close, and then we see him running away.
Here are the 3 videos of the shooting that are currently available:
"Stop Kidding Yourself : The Police Were Created to Control Working Class and Poor People'' :
''In most of the liberal discussions of the recent police killings of unarmed black men, there is an underlying assumption that the police are supposed to protect and serve the population. That is, after all, what they were created to do. If only the normal, decent relations between the police and the community could be re-established, this problem could be resolved. Poor people in general are more likely to be the victims of crime than anyone else, this reasoning goes, and in that way, they are in more need than anyone else of police protection. Maybe there are a few bad apples, but if only the police weren’t so racist, or didn’t carry out policies like stop-and-frisk, or weren’t so afraid of black people, or shot fewer unarmed men, they could function as a useful service that we all need.
''This liberal way of viewing the problem rests on a misunderstanding of the origins of the police and what they were created to do. The police were not created to protect and serve the population. They were not created to stop crime, at least not as most people understand it. And they were certainly not created to promote justice. They were created to protect the new form of wage-labor capitalism that emerged in the mid to late nineteenth century from the threat posed by that system’s offspring, the working class.
''This is a blunt way of stating a nuanced truth, but sometimes nuance just serves to obfuscate.''
RIP Antonio Martin ; Tamir Rice ; Eric Garner ; Kajiemi Powell ; Michael Brown ; Edzell Ford et al and verily - "Hoping for peace is not enough this holiday season. We have to make peace, as a world, as a nation, as human beings.''
I hear he has entered the race, it's tough to trust a southern from a coal state,
I have my back pocket choice, Al Gore he would be the richest person in the race, turns out being crazy smart is handy when it comes to making money.
I was wanting Hillary in 2008 because I figured she would go in fighting that reach across to the GOP always screws the Dems and she would have put some bankers in jail, but that is yesterday, I doubt she will be the nominee of course if she is you know me I feel the GOP is just about perfect, perfectly evil so it is what it is.
The key is to be involved in the primaries once that's done, it's time to focus on beating the GOP whatever that takes, many here work to elect the GOP instead of beating them that's where it all goes to hell like it did this last time when folks who hate the Dems had a huge win many of them who post on here.
