Our advertising-funded media enables big money to persuade our national and global nervous system to select products, politicians, and policies that are bad for us. What are politicians in Washington selling their souls for? Advertising money.

Now some of the web’s brightest minds are trying to create a non-partisan, a non-profit, open source start-up to help make our media substantially more honest, truthful and democratic – by making media open to collaborative commenting and filtering. The start-up is called hypothes.is. (The “.is” is the top level domain so its name can be used as a URL.)
