Capitalist provide the means of production and intellectual capital. Labor does the work. Only together do they produce added value.
The current conflict is about how to divide the created value between capital and labor.
Democracy is based on the idea that every member of society should have an equal say in how to split the pie.
The 1% want to avoid that at all costs
