Autonomy. By implementing new urbanism http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Urbanism and autonomous building http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autonomous_building methods, as well as the practices of permaculture http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Permaculture and aquaponics http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aquaponics we can break their backs. By developing communities where you can walk, bike, or take efficient public transportation to shopping, entertainment and leisure activities, school, and work. As well as produce your own food. merchandise and services regionally under the control of cooperatives http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Co-op and b corporations http://www.bcorporation.net/. We can greatly reduce not only the destruction caused by wanton consumerism but begin to remediate the destruction we have caused to not just the environment but the human condition. We can do this people we can green deserts http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Ra89Y3WefQ . We can change the world!!! Here are some good sites to help us. I encourage you to post any other sites that would be helpful to achieving these goals. http://www.slowmovement.com/ http://www.newurbanism.org/ http://earthship.com/ http://www.bfi.org/ http://aquaponicsassociation.org/ http://www.slowfoodusa.org/ http://www.permaculture.org/nm/index.php/site/index/ http://www.evolver.net/ http://www.realitysandwich.com/ http://www.evolvernetwork.org/ http://www.occupy.com/ http://www.maps.org/ http://opensourceecology.org/

Thank you so much for all of those great sources. Fascinating. I will spend some time looking at each one. And, yes, we can do it! We can change the world!

Well, re electing Obama or electing Romney ( or any republicrat for that matter) is not the way to do it.

[-] 2 points by quantumystic (1710) from Memphis, TN 11 years ago

did anywhere in my post mention those two globalists??? please lets not discuss those two they are simply not worth discussing unless it is about how long the jail sentence should be.

You realize that if you were to make good on this, you would actually be creating a new order that would be most effective on a global level, creating a New World Order?

Ironic, isn't it?

[-] 1 points by quantumystic (1710) from Memphis, TN 11 years ago

i don't think anyone rational opposes the idea of a global community where we all have a stake in it. what people oppose is the concept that the individual will no longer be a factor. these principals are diametrically opposed to the concept that the individual does not matter and are about the empowerment of the individual.

[-] 1 points by gsw (3410) from Woodbridge Township, NJ 11 years ago

why would the individual matter not it such a society?

there would be some narrowing of choices we may have now, new choices would open: robotics, etc

Just so long as you understand the irony.

Welcome to the "new and improved........New World Order"!

it's irony at a base level but i can dig it-------bill hicks

Not every one here gets him though.

His thoughts on marketers and ad men was met with ..........trepidation.

A global governemnt would be even bigger than our current one, and if you think that people will not be taken over eventually by some form of power, you need to get out more often.

We need decentralization, not more freakin consolidation.

[-] 1 points by gsw (3410) from Woodbridge Township, NJ 11 years ago

maybe the focus of the current governments would shift:

if there was a uniting principal, like "Universal Human Rights" for everyone on planet, based on universal human need" and the existing government would coordinate with other "nation" governments so resources would be shared so everyone's human right would be met. Added to USA right would be a basic health system (think community clinics) higher levels of service of current system would be available to those who have, or wish to buy in -captalism wouldn't be replaced, just refocus of society on "kindness, cooperation, and the universal human rights: Basic Health, Basic Healthy food, productive work, basic shelter (i'm thinking yurt, tp, or minicabin on wheels) of course people could keep current dwelling, job, etc a portapoty and a solar panel. Open borders too.

Trade off: ban oil fuels. (ethanol, electric, ok old cars convert to ok)

so rather than department of defense, a much smaller department of peace. most countries would want to do away with their army, or could allie with dept of peace, by sending say 2000 citizens to US army, which would be international department of peace coordinator.

the presidents would be facilitators, "bargainers or barterers" to attain needed resources from other places they exist. but most things produced more locally I would hope.

Government is only as loyal as the people are aware of it. Its why this one is such a mess. And looking around the globe, I dont see a ton of countries with decent governments.

We are our own worst enemy.

[-] 1 points by gsw (3410) from Woodbridge Township, NJ 11 years ago

government's role would only be to achieve the basic human rights for all world citizens.

Instead of a right to life it would be a right to a humane life.

each country would keep own government as needed, which would sort of be like states are now. states would be like counties.

people could keep their arms, or turn in for a horse, camel or cow.

doctors would be asked to donate 1 day at local clinic. in exchange their education would be free.

people could go work on farms which would be open to community to aquire additional healthy foods, for those who like to eat a bit more, they should work a few hours a week on the farm.

Basic free food for all $200 food card, people could get healthy food with at farmer's markets.

[-] -1 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

Our current government could care less about states rights, or the individuals rights, and I cant see that improving by growing it.

[-] 1 points by gsw (3410) from Woodbridge Township, NJ 11 years ago

then they would not be fulfulling any legitimate duty and could be fired by recall, as another of our universal human rights.

there role would be coordinating road building and infrastructure,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fundamental_human_needs http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nonviolent_Communication http://thirdearproject.org/site/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/four-components-of-ic.pdf

and that our universal human rights are protected

This is decentralization at its finest. This puts the power back into the hands of individuals and communities.

How? start by getting the US out of the UN and the UN out of the USA.

[-] 1 points by quantumystic (1710) from Memphis, TN 11 years ago

yeah cause the solution to global problems is isolationism.
