GOP approach, which slices more than $300 billion from domestic programs over the coming decade to prevent the Pentagon from absorbing a $55 billion blow to its budget next year and also hits domestic agencies with an 8 percent cut to their day-to-day operating budgets.

while the pentagon spends 79 billion on jets for airshows.

The F-22 Raptor jet is made by the Locheed Martin and Boeing and the US Air Force bought 187 of them by 2009 figures the whole F-22 program costs taxpayers 79 billion dollars for a faulty product.

There is plenty of evidence that the Air Force will not admit the dangers of flying this aircraft that was purchased with no real necessity and is a waste of taxpayers dollars.

It appears the GOP got it backwards on this.

The defense budget is so bit that the money would have been a much smaller percentage. The food stamps program is much smaller in comparison so the cuts will run deep.

We need to end military occupation and intervention over seas. Bring the troops home from Japan, Germany, and many other countries. Have them work on core projects here and then they will be spending their money here. It costs a lot more to keep them in 81 countries.

Huge cuts to food stamps and 300,000 children will lose their health insurance due to cuts to CHIP. WTF? Is this the country we want?

Agreed. We cannot afford to be apathetic anymore. Things are just getting bad to the point of no return.

Apathy is our enemy.

Vicarious liability is when you know a crime is happening, but you turn your head and look the other way.

Sometimes I wonder how bad it has to get before people really wake up.

I'm thinking that it will take a violent street revolution, with overturned cars, burning shops, tear-gassing and molotov cocktails before the sheeple actually understand that things are really, really bad.

Or, simply turn off the power grid, but that's a bit too obvious, I guess.

It would appear that the BIG DUMBING DOWN actually worked, and the usual divisive tactics, with the old abortion debate and same sex marriage doozies tossed in for good measure actually still work.

Bloody amazing, really. Hard to believe that most people consider themselves to be smarter than animals.

You're right. I was watching the news last night and all they were talking about was gay marriage. Now, that's a very important issue to me as well, but Afghanistan until 2024? Jobs? Declining wages? Housing crisis? No mention. We'll just divert attention away from all the economic problems by making a comment about gay marriage that is so freaking obviously the right thing to say, big deal! Should have been said and legislated years ago.

It's bloody amazing how easily distracted today's populace has become. And I really did think that there was an affirmation, or at least acceptance of same sex marriage ages ago.

Get rid of the pretend religious kooks at the wheel, and maybe we can actually focus upon some really important issues, like the global food shortage looming because of the energy crisis.

Oh, and generating power without playing caveman, and burning something flammable. You think all those satellites out there have a coal-burner on board? Or a fusion-cell nuclear reactor? Perhaps there's a dozen rats on board running around and around on a wheel to power those things? Hmmm? (rant over)

Very well said. Wake up, people!
