The Tea Party organization launching a multi-pronged voter suppression effort this election is under investigation by Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD) for a possible “criminal conspiracy to deny legitimate voters their constitutional rights.”

Cummings sent a letter to True the Vote founder Catherine Engelbrecht warning her that the Ohio branch of the group, in suing to throw thousands of students, trailer park residents, homeless people and African Americans off the voting rolls, may be violating the law:

At some point, an effort to challenge voter registrations by the thousands without any legitimate basis may be evidence of illegal voter suppression. If these efforts are intentional, politically motivated and widespread across multiple states, they could amount to a criminal conspiracy to deny legitimate voters their constitutional rights.

NationofChange is a 501(c)3 nonprofit funded directly by our readers. Please make a small donation to support our work. True the Vote released a statement affirming their support for the Ohio voter purge advocates on Monday:

True the Vote stands by the well-intentioned efforts of these citizens and is disgusted by the attempts of some within government and media to warp what should have been a simple, legal process into a calculated partisan charade.

The most radical voter suppression efforts — including voter ID laws, voter purges, gerrymandered districts and restrictions on voter registration — have been killed in the courts or delayed till after the election. In many cases, judges concluded that minorities would be disproportionately affected by these efforts. Indeed, an analysis of the failed voter purge in Texas, True the Vote’s home state, found that African American and Latino names were much more likely to be flagged for removal, and African American districts received more letters questioning their eligibility to vote than any other districts.

Rather than rely solely on these initiatives, True the Vote is also mobilizing a national network of volunteer poll watchers to challenge and intimidate voters on Election Day. In light of the misinformation and questionable tactics disseminated in these volunteer trainings, Rep. Cummings is seeking “the data you have been using to challenge voter registrations, the training you have been providing volunteers to conduct these activities, and the manner in which you have been determining where to deploy your resources in select jurisdictions.”

OOOO whooo whoo! Sounds like we're gettin' medieval on their ass!

[-] 0 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

I hear you. I wouldn't object if that was the consensus.

[-] 0 points by podman73 (-652) 11 years ago

What about when the consensus is to kill you? You are a sick fuck, I can only imagine what a shirt life you have and you seem to blame everyone else for it.

[-] -2 points by podman73 (-652) 11 years ago

The huffington post really? Figures you would use that as your "proof". All that aside it doesn't add up to deserve being hung. What if the consenes was what you do is hangable? For you to go along with the consenes show what a piece if garbage you are.

Ok you are simpler than I thought I'll try this again...anyone breaking laws should stand trial and even if convicted the crime does not rise to the hang em attitude you have. I can't make it any simpler for you. What you suggest is just another form of authoritarian dictator ship. No your not a decent a decent man would never agree to hang someone for non violent crimes even if it was the concensus that person would be garbage, that was your exact quote so yes you are.

[-] 0 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

I don't have a hang 'em attitude. That's you lyin'

I've never told you I agree with "hanging someone for non violent crimes". More of your lies about me. Please refrain. BTW I'm against the death penalty.

So you are against the republican efforts to cheat in the election, but you are adamantly against the death penalty for them? Ok. I think we agree.

Peace. Good luck in all your good efforts.

I am against capitol punishment. Notwithstanding the satirical comment you claim I made in a conversation with someone other than you. Weeks ago. I have no recollection ofthis comment you allege. Do you have a link.?

So. I don't really know what you are talkin about.

Do you support the death penalty?

All bets were off when they failed to throw those old funky Panther dudes in jail; do you think those guys bathe between highs?

Stupid is as stupid does around here.

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

I ain't blamin anyone else. My life is actually pretty good. I just don't like the injustice of how the plutocrats have rigged the system against the 99% and taking our money. WE let that happen so I blame us (the 99%)

Please refrain from the obscene name calling.

[-] -2 points by podman73 (-652) 11 years ago

Stop saying its ok to murder people you disagree with you twisted fuck. Your post shows how sick you are.

[-] 0 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

Please refrain from the obscene insults.

Do you think it is right to suppress dem voters?

[-] -1 points by podman73 (-652) 11 years ago

No and it's not an offense that rises to the death penalty. You have serious issues that you need help with. Your post was obscene and shows you for what you are.

[-] 0 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

Then Why do you support the massive republican effort (in 38 states) to suppress dem votes?

Why Poddy, why?

[-] -2 points by podman73 (-652) 11 years ago

You are a twisted fuck, that doesn't give you the right to murder them you sick fuck. They have jails for those who break laws, I don't remember electing you judge jury and executioner. Sick sick sick you need help badly.

the psychotherapist face drew a blank, and his form fell among the shadows like the spiders that weave their web in the upside-down corners of my bedroom.

as if pebbles broke the reflective surface of a mountain lake, an ink blot flowered.

"fill the void" railed tortured silence

"ants" I lied

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

Please refrain from the obscene insults.

You didn't answer the question, Poddy.

Then Why do you support the massive republican effort (in 38 states) to suppress dem votes?

Why Poddy, why?

[-] -3 points by podman73 (-652) 11 years ago

Actually you twisted fuck I did answer it. If you would take a break from tying nooses in rope you would see the answer.

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

Which repubs paid for the vote suppressing ohio billboards in minority neighborhoods? Can we put them in jail?

"murder people who don't agree"??? I have made no such comment to you.

[-] 0 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

Please refrain from the excessive vulgarity. It is clearly out of place and irrelevant.

Who should go to jail.?

"tying nooses" What does that mean?

[-] -2 points by podman73 (-652) 11 years ago

It's very relevant and on place. Jail is for the people who break the law (you know the answer you said I didn't give) tying nooses is a reference to you wanting to murder people you disagree with. Go back and read the post again slowly maybe that will help.

[-] -3 points by podman73 (-652) 11 years ago

I'm against right wing vote suppression. Ain't you.?

[-] -1 points by yobstreet (-575) 11 years ago

I support up and down voting, as in, "good" or "bad"; I am steadfastly against the horizontal vote as in: "either, or." And in this country there's a whole lotta "either or" going on, isn't there?

The best suppression occurs right in the home. It works like this: "Honey, we have to go vote." And it's legal.

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

Voting is a precious right that people fought, bled & died for. We should have mandatory voting foe all.

[-] -1 points by yobstreet (-575) 11 years ago

That's not true; we died in the defense of liberty and never to gain a vote. And no one who is not a contributing member of society should be permitted a vote - the elderly, the infirm, the disabled, etc., excepted.

[-] 0 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

Many people fought, bled & died for the right to vote.

And all people should be made to vote, prisoners, homeless even green card residents.

[-] -2 points by yobstreet (-575) 11 years ago

Oh yea? How many felons do you think fought for the vote? And how many of your green card illegals?

No one who is not of an adult age and a financially contributing member of society should be permitted to vote.

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

Wrong! All people regardless of income.

[-] -2 points by yobstreet (-575) 11 years ago

haha... ok, I get it - you're down and out, trying to vote yourself out of jail so you can go back to living on the man; each to his own.

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

LOL. that's funny and offensive at the same time. Seems useless interacting with you.

[-] -1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

Can we get this investigation to reach into the realm of ALEC and the Kochs?

Indeed into all the front groups, think tanks and astroturfers?

Now that would serve justice.

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

Would that we could. I support an expansion, of course.

1st & foremost Koch/Rove, & of course if we're discussing investigations I gotta mention the wall st criminals.

In that case I say restore the almost $200 million House repubs removed from the fin prosecution budget. But I digress.

I need a pHoto ID to catch a fish.

Maybe the only photos Obama fans have are mugshots.

This was not a mistake. This is more republican cheating schemes!

Why 'cause we're all criminals? Is that some kinda racist slur? LMFAO Clearly the article shows it's you right wing wackos who are the criminals! And unamerican as well.

[-] 0 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

You support these criminals?

Top posting your own posts again?

[-] 0 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

Is that allowed.?

I found a news story about more election shenanigans by repubs and posted it.

Are you providing defense for your republicans again?

[-] -1 points by frogmanofborneo (602) from New York, NY 11 years ago

Asshole. Voter suppression is a Human rights issue. Were it in Russia it would be a OWS priority to protest it, but since it's only about African Americans it slides.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

U R sick - seek help.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

You are an OWS attacker - an apparently misguided one - though I think you have motives that have nothing to do with discrimination. You just like playing a hate angle - to try and discredit OWS.

PS - Go Fuck Yourself.

[-] 1 points by ShubeLMorgan2 (1088) from New York, NY 11 years ago

you are an arrogant little male and skin privileged twerp. and OWS needs to be corrected in such an obvious act of arrogance.

[-] 0 points by frogmanofborneo (602) from New York, NY 11 years ago

you took the words right out of my own mouth!

[-] 0 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Your reply should have been addressed to froggy. I expect it was an error that you sent it to me. If it was not in error - then you and froggy may be able to join group therapy together.

[-] -2 points by Grimreaper2 (-318) 11 years ago

So let's see: one says it's "UN American" and one says it's a reason to kill people. I think I'm starting to see the real face of OWS.

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

Repubs lost in court & resort to these billboards to suppress the votes of minorities.

http://news.yahoo.com/ohio-voter-fraud-billboards-come-down-sponsor-stays-225217520--sector.html

Repubs can't win without cheating.!

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

Are you confused? Did you think every OWS supporter thinks the same way.
