I saw this article yesterday and this was the first I have heard of this. I don't know if this guy who reported on this has his facts right, but has anyone else heard similar things of the Occupy DC being...well occupied by others "special interest" groups? Or is thus some crazy Conspiracy Theory. I can't confirm it in DC.

If so this is very disturbing indeed. Link: http://newsjunkiepost.com/2012/01/22/has-ex-goldmann-sachs-staff-turned-democrat-campaigner-infiltrated-occupy/

I don't know if anyone knows enough about the people involved in Occupy DC to know what the truth is. There is some sense to it though. The whole Occupy movement offers a pool of campaign workers if demonstrations can be nudged toward supporting union or democratic party goals.

My own belief is that Occupy should have recruited candidates to run for congress right from the start. They've tried to stay out of politics, but it's often a matter of use or be used.

Good point. I just find it off nobody really knows abouth this. But you are right, it was a matter of time before the movement got co-opted by someone.

Tho' I appreciate your post and think that the link raises some rather important questions, you do not really have the evidence to say that OWS or 'The Occupy Movement' has been co-opted.

OccupyDC however, is so geographically close to the 'den of vipers' that it was always going to be susceptible to various attempts at infiltration from various directions and agencies, not least amongst which will be the 'K Street' lobbyist interests, the myriad 'Think Tanks' as well as the various 'Intelligence Agencies'. Frankly everyone of these 'agencies' and parties which can, is going to have a go at subversion and infiltration - if for no other reason, than simply to out do each other.

The Occupy Movement is deeply threatening to many and varied interests from across the 'Right Wing Spectrum' that comprises The Establishment in The U$A. I write this as an European and as someone who regards the overwhelming majority of 'Socio-Politics' in The U$A as variations on the theme of 'Right-Wing' !

Finally, please reflect that the leaderless and amorphous and indeed 'somewhat anarchic' nature of The Occupy Movement, greatly mitigates the risk of any comprehensive co-option. Indeed, I wouldn't be at all surprised IF that was what vexes 'THEM' (les autres ie any would be co-opters) so much !!

Good post and link though and as someone said somewhere at sometime, "The Price Of Freedom Is Eternal Vigilance" !!!

caveat actor ...
