GUN NUT MYTHS & Filthy RW Lies!

Every single advancement in this country has been preceded by GOP hysterics, paranoia, myths and filthy lies: from Women's Suffrage, Child Labor, Minimum Wage, Social Security, NASA, Civil Rights, Obama, Health Care Reform, and now Guns. Same specious and absurd arguments, different topic!

Cable news is now featuring freaks ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=An2g2Fi3YO4&feature=youtu.be ) who are comparing the idea of gun control to what happened under the Third Reich...  which from their point of view, was basically the tragic story of a crazed dictator denying people guns. Hitler’s priority wasn’t to ban the selling of high-capacity ammunition clips. He was too busy suppressing minorities and crushing the unions—the same things that today’s conservatives are obsessed with.

Despite the fantasies, of gun nuts, Adolf Hitler never enacted a ban on guns. Guns weren’t the first thing Adolf Hitler went after. In fact, he never got around to going after guns—and Adolf Hitler found the time to go after a LOT of things. Hitler knew that guns don’t free people from tyranny—people free people from tyranny. So he went after the people who would oppose him—like union members.

A new ad from an ammo company called USAAmmo compares President Obama to tyrants like Hitler and Stalin. I’m shocked. Mostly, I’m shocked that an ammo company feels the need to advertise. Isn’t that stuff flying off of the shelves? The video with the ad claims that the President and Attorney General Eric Holder “are secretly conspiring American Citizens of the right to bear arms.” This ad is based on inciting fear and paranoia among people who are completely misinformed. Give the ammo company this much—they know their customers. A spokesman for USAAmmo said Obama is “anti-gun and he’s obviously a socialist cramming healthcare down America’s throats.” Obama is cramming healthcare down America’s throats! Well a lot of good all those guns are doing you guys—you can’t even prevent yourselves from being given affordable healthcare!

Meanwhile, Mitch McConnell refuses to say if he would use the debt ceiling as a weapon... which is just another way of using the debt ceiling as a weapon. Republicans will always use any weapon they have. This is the party of 2nd Amendment solutions. They love weapons. The reason is obvious—if you don’t have the numbers, you better have the guns. It’s not easy running the country with a tiny base of elderly white men in the rural south. You have to be armed with things like assault rifles and debt ceilings.

A Modest Proposal … Take Two

Friday, 04 January 2013 | Bob Alexander | http://tvnewslies.org

Note: The first time I heard about "A Short History of Conservative Obstruction to Progress" was on Mike Malloy's radio program in 2008. I was so impressed with it I put it up in the "rants" section on Superbeans (http://superbeans.com/rant_02_01_08.htm) as a readily accessible reminder that The Elite, and the Crazy Stupid People that follow them, have unrelentingly opposed everything and anything that would benefit We The People. [Like ending the Bogus Bush Wars, Reforming Health Care, Taxing the Rich, and Controlling Guns so People don't get SHOT!!!]

The key word here is unrelentingly. Conservatives are like the movie monsters from the Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street, and Friday the 13th movies. You can’t stop them. You can stab them in the neck, set them on fire, or whack them in the head with a machete, but after a few seconds of getting their movie-monster-mojo together … they rise up again and again and again … and their murderous rampage continues until the closing credits. Unlike their victims, the movie monsters don’t need to stop to sleep, eat, or even catch their breath. But when their hapless quarry takes a breather … Watch Out … that’s when The Monsters Get You. [Zombies]

The Elite and their Crazed Conservative Shills in Congress are even more powerful than their silver screen counterparts. They can lose elections and still have the power to destroy. How could these people deny relief to hurricane Sandy victims? Because they’re monsters. Why are they still trying to destroy our social safety nets? George Carlin explained it all perfectly:

“They spend billions of dollars every year lobbying to get what they want. Well, we know what they want; they want more for themselves and less for everybody else. … And now they’re coming for your social security money. They want your retirement money. They want it back so they can give it to their criminal friends on Wall Street. And you know something? They’ll get it.”

They’ll get it because they’ve spent decades and untold billions to create and condition enough dumb-asses that don’t know what the hell is going on but believe, and deeply care about, gibberish.

Here are some Ugly American Facts. 61% of Americans don’t believe in evolution. 47% believe the universe is less than 10,000 years old. One child in four grows up not knowing how to read, 21 million Americans can't read at all, and the average American doesn’t read one book in a year. This means if you go outside … you’ve got more than a fifty-fifty chance of meeting a crazy stupid person. Hell … there’s a huge chance you’re related to crazy stupid people. I know I am.

My little circle of acquaintances and family members is positively teeming with crazy stupid people. Maybe you’re in the same boat. So how are we supposed to deal with people who fervently support war crimes, deny science, disregard facts, fear anyone with a skin color darker than their own, are completely unhinged by the concept of same-sex marriage, and believe it is more important to regulate vaginas instead of guns?

I’ve spent years struggling with that question and I’ve spent years doing what all good little liberals do … countering nonsense with facts. You know how that’s worked out? So far I have a 100% failure rate. Not one crazy stupid person budged one millimeter from their position. The Iraq War was A Good Thing. There is no such thing as Global Climate Change. There is no such thing as Peak Oil. Brown People are Scary. Gay people are Scary. Women are Scary. Gun violence is caused by everything but guns.

So I quit talking to these people because I finally realized a very simple fact. You cannot use a rational argument with anyone who is irrational. So put down The Big Book of Facts and walk away. Just walk away.

I read an article by Alan Greenblatt on the NPR website the other day: When It Comes To Politics, States Are Barely United.

The “Red” states are getting redder and the “Blue” states are getting bluer. I don’t think that would be a surprise to anyone who has sat across the Thanksgiving table while the fat-assed brother-in-law holds forth on the dangers of gay marriage. There’s nothing you can say to him that’ll change his mind. If you counter any of his dumb-ass arguments he’ll simply double down on his dumb-assery and keep talking until he runs out of steam. You can’t have a “two-way street” discussion with this guy. It’s not allowed. So now we get to the Modest Proposal part.

It’s not enough to passively avoid these dumb-asses. I’m not talking about “drawing a line in the sand.” It’s already there. They drew the damn thing in the first place. It’s time to actively shun these people. If this yahoo believes in denying anyone their rights you tell him he’s a goddamned fool. If it’s your house … tell him to get the hell out. If it’s his house … gather up your coats and hats and family and get the hell out. We’ve got to stop tolerating these dumb-asses. Piers Morgan dispensed with Gun Nut Larry Pratt by simply telling him, “You're An Unbelievably Stupid Man, Aren't You?”

We need more of this type of response to dumb-assery. We have got to put these dumb-asses on notice that we’re not going to tolerate their insanity any longer. We’re done with these yahoos. Crazy Stupid People should not be invited to the conversation because of a misguided desire to appear to be fair and balanced. The most ridiculous position I can imagine is to ask the people who caused the problem to help with the solution.

We’ve got to shun the dumb-asses because they have no interest in solving the problem. Their agenda is to make it worse.

Now I realize that my Modest Proposal is in no way helping to bridge the political divide that exists in the United States. Some might say it exacerbates the problem.

Really?

The fat-assed bother-in-law vehemently against same sex marriage is the problem. Ignoring him is the problem. Tolerating his ignorance and inhumanity is the problem. Telling him to shut up might be the beginning of the solution.

See here’s the deal … This isn’t about politics anymore … it’s about survival. We can’t have a bunch of bible-thumping morons influence the decisions about what to do about Global Climate Change. We can’t have these dupes of the corporatocracy interfere anymore. We’ve got to tell them to shut the hell up and go sit in the corner until the adults figure out what to do.

So shun ‘em and see what happens. Will the Blue States get Blue-ier and the Red States get crazier?

Yeah.

But that’s already happening.

Will it get better if we negotiate with Crazy Stupid People?

No. We’ll just lose more ground as the oceans rise.

Is there a solution to The Political Divide?

Probably not … but at least we’ll have the satisfaction of giving the crazy bastards the finger before we all sail off the cliff.

Americans for Responsible Solutions

Dear fellow American,

Two years ago, a mentally ill young man shot me in the head, killed six of my constituents, and wounded 12 others. Since that terrible day, America has seen 11 more mass shootings – but no response from Congress to prevent gun violence. After the massacre of 20 children and six of their teachers at Sandy Hook Elementary though, it’s clear: This time must be different.

Americans for Responsible Solutions will encourage elected officials to stand up for solutions to prevent gun violence and protect responsible gun ownership by communicating directly with the constituents that elect them.

Join us today, and tell your elected leaders that Americans are demanding responsible solutions to reduce gun violence.

Please take a moment to read our op-ed.

Sincerely,

Gabby & Mark

Lets not put forced corporatism (Obamacare) on the same level as the other stuff. If that was the plan, he never would have beaten hillary in the primaries.

Its kind of opposite.

I love how the left voter considers the right nazis, and the right voter considers the left nazis, and meanwhile the people in power all hang out together and move us closer to fascism every year.

What is going to be the wakeup call?

Consider the real facts that your observations and evaluations and resolutions are simplistic, lame, presumptive and prejudiced.

You're a waste of time. A bus stop boxer. Go scream at the wind.

American lives trump guns, it was a nice run, but it should have ended decades ago. Time to adopt UK gun laws, and their universal health care, too. Bye bye Wild West! Hello 21st Century!!

Maybe you addicts can open well-regulated gun clubs or parks, but the guns don't leave the premises.

[-] 0 points by WSmith (2003) from Cornelius, OR 1 year ago

Dear Vice President Joe Biden:

Please just ban all guns and ammo. Any piecemeal plan will be like a small hole in a dike, eventually we'll be back to where we were, flooded and shot. Let the gun nuts open gun clubs and parks, but the guns don't leave the premises. Fine $10K per weapon and have a generous whistle blower reward. People's lives trump gun ownership. The Wild West is long gone.

Let's join the UK in banning all guns, and their public health care system, TOO! It's the 21st Century, we have some catching up to do!!

Sincerely, America

"guns don’t free people from tyranny—people free people from tyranny."

And what do these "people" use TO free themselves???

Asinine, ignorant Leftist diatribe's such as yours???

Why do you keep parading your ignorance with such pomposity?

Do you seek others pity?

[-] 1 points by WSmith (2003) from Cornelius, OR 1 year ago

You crazy fucks just won't accept democracy will ya! You just want your nice warm authoritarian rulers! Rule by the weapon, the sword! And die by it, too. Primitive knuckledraggers!

Guns are history!

[-] -1 points by outlawtumor (-162) 1 year ago

And the parade continues...........

[-] -1 points by bigjoe (-117) 1 year ago

Obama is a tyrant. Our government becomes more tyrannical everyday; and I suspect most OWS supporters already know that.

Gun nut? What me a gun nut? Is it because I’ve never been arrested? Is it because I vote and pay taxes? Is it because I went to work every day to take care of my wife and three daughters? Is it because I own gun to protect my family? Is it because I used to hunt in my younger days?

This demonizing of honest, hardworking, mostly middle class citizens because they own guns is wrong. We seem to have come to a place where our hate for each other defines us. Not just on guns, but EVERYTHING. OWS is no exception.

[-] 0 points by WSmith (2003) from Cornelius, OR 1 year ago

You're nothing special, plenty of us work, pay tax, Vote, reduce our carbon foot print, play, recycle, create, keep informed; and support green living, green energy, the elimination of fossil fuels and the adoption of gun laws similar to those in the UK. We have a big problem with getting SHOT!

The hobby is too dangerous to allow, and some gun owners have made it clear that the old practice has used up it's welcome. Like slavery, the time to end open gun ownership HAS BEEN REACHED. We should have banned them decades ago.

People who just can't live without squeezing off some rounds can start well-regulated gun clubs and parks, but the weapons do not leave the premises. The number of people murdered or shot by accident overwhelm by far the numbers of actual incidents of defense. UK and other countries have banned guns for a reason, it's about time we realize the Wild West is long gone and ban them too.

The life of just ONE child trumps the continued allowance of open gun ownership, NOW MULTIPLY THAT CHILD BY THOUSANDS!! The rhetoric from the Right against everything has always been the same (as I wrote above), and it is always BS! Hysterics! and Lies!

Don't put your antiquated and irreversibly dangerous obsession over American's lives!!

Al gore is a great warrior for the 99% in his efforts to inform us and fight climate change.

[-] 2 points by OTP (-203) from Tampa, FL 1 year ago

Yes, right after he shipped all our jobs to China and Mexico. '

What a great human being. Actually he's just another 1%er that did what his corporate masters told him to.

Hagel votes for war, eh who cares. Gore ships all the jobs to 3rd world no regulation countries, eh who cares.

Lets just forget about all of it and give those two a big hug and open arms welcoming!!

[-] -2 points by VQkag2 (16478) 1 year ago

"he shipped all our jobs to China and Mexico." ? ALL our jobs? We've been dealing with outsourcing for 40 years, The criminals who are responsible for that (and the resulting wage stagnation) are the corps who did it, as well as the conservative policies that Gore may or may not have supported.

All pols (D/R) who support anti 99% conservative policies shuld be held accountable. Al Gore is a great warrior for the 99% in his efforts to inform us and fight climate change.

[-] 2 points by OTP (-203) from Tampa, FL 1 year ago

The guy who was VP during NAFTA and GATT, repealing Glass STeagall and the Commodities Futures Act s now a "great warrior".

He is the exact opposite. One movie does not reverser that record that led to an exlplosion in pollution.

Or at least it shouldnt.

[-] -2 points by VQkag2 (16478) 1 year ago

As VP I think he had very little to do with those anti labor conservative trade deals, or the conservative policy to weaken fin regs by repealing Glass steagal.

However ALL pols (D/R) who supported those conservative policies should be held accountable.

That doesn't change Gores Massive work forthe 99% way beyond that oscar winning film, not the least of which is the Occupy supporting Current tv.

[-] 2 points by OTP (-203) from Tampa, FL 1 year ago

Ya, VP is just another puppet position. I would have resigned. As would almost any other real person.

Im aware of current tv. He's a 20% stake holder in it. I like most of current tv. One would think he would have bought out the 80% instead of selling it to al jazeera

But with Gore, like the rest of em, it isnt about fighting the machine. Its about BEING the machine.

Stop falling for propaganda and start holding them to the level of accountability you would hold yourself to.

[-] -1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 1 year ago

YOU would resign"? Haha ha! that's rich. Easy to say when you will never be in that position.

Al Gore ain't the machine, He fights the machine absolutely. I'm sure he couldn't buy the 80% stake because it was almost $1 Billion. And how he makes money is his business. Nothing wrong with selling current tv, nothing wrong with selling to Qatari owned Al Jazeera.

You don't like Al Jazeera? A little too Arab royalty leaning, & anti Iranian for you.?

You gotta be smart enough to watch between the lines, they actually have many good stories if you can navigate through the slant of their propaganda.

[-] 0 points by OTP (-203) from Tampa, FL 1 year ago

" if you can navigate through the slant of their propaganda."

You are all the proof we need that the propaganda machine is functioning just fine.

Glad to see you have forgiven those that caused this mess and the Iraq war.

Sell out. Anything to fit into the club for you, eh? You would make a perfect congressman.... "Ya, you did vote for the Iraq war, but fuck it!! Come on over here big guy!!!!"

[-] 0 points by VQkag2 (16478) 1 year ago

What ARE you talkin about?

I ain't forgiven anyone. That's you blatantly lying cause you can't argue the truth.

What club are you babbling about?

You are losing your grip on reality. Slow down, take a pill or something, you may have a stroke. LOL

[-] 0 points by OTP (-203) from Tampa, FL 1 year ago

Taking a pill is always your answer?

"I believe whatever mistakes he's made, whatever support he (like so many Dems) gave to conservative policies he made a change at some point."

"I believe" being the key part. What happened that you are now willing to overlook all those absolutely devastating policies to the country and the planet?

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 1 year ago

What are you talkin about?. You have made no specific accusation against Al Gore. Just specious unfounded smears.

You're just anti dem. You got nothing specific. I assume he's made some mistakes, no one is perfect, (I'm sure YOU would be but the rest of us are flawed) but you have nothing specific against VP Gore.

So stop lying

[-] 0 points by OTP (-203) from Tampa, FL 1 year ago

If you dont know the specifics youre just an idiot. Its politcs 101.

Want a lesson why the sky is blue too?

Heres a few- repeal glass steagall, commodities act, and NATFAT/GATT union fuckover.

I guess if those three dont seal the deal for you, nothing will.

But you are fine with making Republican and Iraq War voting Chuck Hagel the SoD so I guess your bar is just really really really low.

Dont worry.

U R Not Alone.

[-] 0 points by VQkag2 (16478) 1 year ago

But Al Gore wasn't involved with the conservative policies you've listed. No votes, no signature.

I think you are reaching. Aintcha got no real accusations, not Clinton sloppy seconds.?

Hagel certainly has real problems in his past. but the current fact is that the war mongering right wing wacko neocons are against his demilitarization positions.

So that is the overriding fact to consider. Not poor votes decades ago.

[-] 0 points by reneth (-2) 1 year ago

"he shipped all our jobs to China and Mexico."///////////////////////////Just like the current "so called job czar Immelt is doing" Sending about all of GE's jobs to China and Mexico.

[-] -1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 1 year ago

So we haven't increased manufactiring jobs in America? (not enough but definitely an increase)

[-] 0 points by reneth (-2) 1 year ago

Yes a great warrior and a poster child for the so called 99%. He sold out to big oil and also sold before the start of the year to evade the higher taxes. You have to be real proud of him

[-] -1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 1 year ago

I am certainly proud of the excellent station (current tv) he created. Sorry to see TYT go.

His personal finances are not really my concern. I don't usually begrudge people making money.

I want economic equity and in regards to Al Gore he should pay much more taxes but I support his efforts in support of the 99%.

He is one ofthe Many 1%'rs that support the progressive tax changes that would benefit the 99%.

Go Al!

[-] 1 points by OTP (-203) from Tampa, FL 1 year ago

When did this love of the 99% start for him? After he got out of congress and realized he destroyed million of jobs, the environment and effectively helped to crash the economy and crush housing?

Oh ya, and all the work he did with our food supply in relation to Wall St.

Ya, if I was him, I'd be on a mission to turn my image around too.

[-] 0 points by VQkag2 (16478) 1 year ago

I believe whatever mistakes he's made, whatever support he (like so many Dems) gave to conservative policies he made a change at some point.

When? Who knows.? Who cares? No politician is innocent, all are guilty of failure. THAT is the nature of the control the conservative 1% corp oligarchs have over the peoples govt.

I support Al Gore not because of his failures (which you have NOT listed specifically) but for his successes.
