“The majority of Congress is being kept in the dark as to the substance of the TPP negotiations, while representatives of U.S. corporations — like Halliburton, Chevron, PhaRMA, Comcast and the Motion Picture Association of America — are being consulted and made privy to details of the agreement,” said Wyden, in a floor statement to Congress.

Holy Quadruple Crap!!@%#??, Trade Agreements are being Negotiated for US Voters by Corporations%#@!!!???

From you link above .... GlobalResearch.ca

[-] 3 points by Middleaged (5140) 10 years ago

President Nixon first developed the idea of "Fast Track" in 1973 as a way to secure Congressional approval of trade agreements, and it has been a key to passing many unpopular agreements such as the World Trade Organization (WTO) and NAFTA.

Holy Crap%#@?!!! This is how we got NAFTA and a Global Economy!!

As people have caught on to the offshoring of jobs and other detrimental consequences of these agreements, civil society now understands how important it is to not allow a president to circumvent the democratic role of Congress. Fast Track expired in 2007, so President Obama must have it re-instated in order to pass the TPP. His administration is moving to have Fast Track approved and hopes it will happen by this summer.

Holy Double Crap, and most of the US Voters are Asleep!!@%#

Fast Track meant that the Congressional committee processes were circumvented and the executive branch was empowered to write lengthy implementing legislation for each trade pact without Congress. These executive-only authored bills required US law to conform to the trade agreement. For example, Glass-Steagall had to be repealed under President Clinton to conform to the WTO.

Holy Triple Crap, the 2008 Financial Crisis is a partly the Result of the Repeal of Glass-Steagall Act of 1933 ... partly no Doubt to Turn the USA into a Third World Country!!@%#

What the conformists on this site don't like a dosage of the truth?

[-] 9 points by Renneye (3874) 10 years ago

Its surprising sometimes, which threads don't get attention on this forum. I was going to post a thread on this subject the other day, but didn't get to it. So, thanks.

Mega important topic. Our future is being sold out from under us. What is it now...the 16th round of secret discussions with the Corporate Globalists?

We're just a giant bar code to these people. They don't give a damn about people, countries, cultures, etc. Pretty soon areas of the globe will just be known as economic zones.

[-] 3 points by Nevada1 (5843) 10 years ago

Well said Renneye.

[-] 3 points by quantumystic (1710) from Memphis, TN 10 years ago

Why can't the people wake up? Is it really going to be just the anarchists and the socialists with the occasional civil rights libertarian in this fight? Guess they are just too selfishly wrapped up in their lives to look outside of their lives.

[-] 2 points by frovikleka (2563) from Island Heights, NJ 10 years ago

It's not always "selfish." It's just survival

~Odin~

[-] 7 points by Renneye (3874) 10 years ago

Agreed! The .01% hit the majority of the population from all angles & in the dark, while people are just busy raising families. It wasn't/isn't a level playing field. The .01% are cowards!

[-] 0 points by frovikleka (2563) from Island Heights, NJ 10 years ago

Young families are really busy with all the daily battles of feeding and clothing the kids, teaching them to say please and thank you, etc. I remember the evening news used to turn into the evening snooze for me. It was probabably just as well though

~Odin~

[-] 1 points by quantumystic (1710) from Memphis, TN 10 years ago

bullshit. just fucking lazy.

[-] 1 points by frovikleka (2563) from Island Heights, NJ 10 years ago

Some people are just really busy raising families, and other people just live in an insulated little world where they learn to 'adapt' to whatever is dished out, thinking they have no choice

~Odin~

[-] 1 points by quantumystic (1710) from Memphis, TN 10 years ago

LAZY. No such thing as too busy. Just too lazy.

[-] 1 points by frovikleka (2563) from Island Heights, NJ 10 years ago

Whatever you say, either way it is an obstacle for us to overcome

~Odin~

[-] 1 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 10 years ago

People are waking up there has been more and more discussion of wealth inequality. As far as OWS goes, while it did an excellent thing in raising awareness of wealth in America it has become more and more just a place to bitch about Obama, in large part due to the Anarchist but mostly the Green Party operatives that infect all areas of OWS, anyone who lived through 2000 and paid attention knows what evil and danger there is in the Greens (and there are a lot of us) stay away from OWS. Also the compete inability for OWS to make any statement really. However it matters not who puts forth the cause of wealth inequality as long as it is done.

Three trailers, the first is for American Winter a documentary about the middle class, the second is Elysium a revenge fantasy for the 99%, the last Two Americans a documentary about immigration shot here in Arizona. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=wJJR3lG72AA#!

"anyone who lived through 2000 and paid attention knows what evil and danger there is in the Greens (and there are a lot of us) stay away from OWS"

And the attempts by the establishment at coopting continue...I thought you guys gave up right after you started bashing us.

[-] 1 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 10 years ago

oh I've been to meetings and there's co-opting alright, you tell who's doing it by their constant whining about Obama while hardly ever talking about wealth or what can be done about it and who is trying to do something about it.

[-] 1 points by JadedCitizen (4277) 10 years ago

Drawing from my own personal experience of waking up to see how fucked up & corrupt this country really is right down through the core of both parties, my guess is fear plays a large role in people choosing to remain ignorant, despite their being a gazillion warning signs.

Basically, I think taking a minority viewpoint takes courage. Easier to go along with the mainstream like a puppet. Easier to act like a blind patriotic fool that sees America, or the democrats, or the republicans, as right all the time because we love apple pie and all that shit, than act like a true patriot and question, seek, and form your own opinion, free of rhetoric and apple pie.

[-] 1 points by Narley (272) 10 years ago

Now that’s a bit arrogant. To call the American people fools because they don’t see things the way you do is over the top. I understand your frustration. But to think you and your anarchist buddies are the only one who really understand is a bad way to look at things.

Surely you don’t believe calling people names will accomplish anything?

[-] 2 points by jrhirsch (4714) from Sun City, CA 10 years ago

98.5% of the people voted for just two parties in the last presidential election. Fools isn't the proper term, mind controlled is. Sheep would be better.

[-] 3 points by JadedCitizen (4277) 10 years ago

Damn, that's a lot of people voting in the oligarch's best interests.

[-] 1 points by jrhirsch (4714) from Sun City, CA 10 years ago

Fear of all hell breaking out if the other party is elected is what drives them into their respective corrals. The Oligarchs are master herders.

[-] 3 points by JadedCitizen (4277) 10 years ago

Divide and conquer - oldest trick in the book.

[-] 1 points by jrhirsch (4714) from Sun City, CA 10 years ago

Exactly. Some people here want to pen others in their corrals, but I say break free from every enclosure.

[-] 2 points by JadedCitizen (4277) 10 years ago

Then why call me Anarchist?

[-] -1 points by Narley (272) 10 years ago

Good point. I don't know if you are an anarchist. It just sounded like it in your post.

[-] 1 points by JadedCitizen (4277) 10 years ago

You must be well versed in the sounds of an anarchist. Myself, I'm not all that familiar with how anarchy sounds. Did I use some Anarchist terminology unknowingly? I reread my short comment and heard nothing anarchist sounding in it. I did pick up on a bit of a jaded sound, though.

[-] 0 points by Narley (272) 10 years ago

Yea, I also thought jaded. A little defensive also.

[-] -1 points by OTP (-203) from Tampa, FL 10 years ago

Waking up means the dream is over. Which leads to realizing that is WAS just a dream. Which means its time to get out of bed and start living.

Which requires energy.

Which requires a possible failed attempt.

Which scares the hell out of those people.

"Is it really going to be just the anarchists and the socialists with the occasional civil rights libertarian in this fight?" ...

Yes.

[-] 0 points by quantumystic (1710) from Memphis, TN 10 years ago

that is depressing.

[-] -1 points by OTP (-203) from Tampa, FL 10 years ago

Its not depressing at all. Its motivating. Its a clear look into what is needed with what its going to take. A nice sized challenge.

Hey, if it was easy, everyone would be doing it right? :)

[-] 2 points by Renneye (3874) 10 years ago

Yep. 'They' have areas of our beautiful world embroiled, from the shores of Somalia to the ghetto's of the U.S. Just under different war terminology, that's all...and of course with the accommodating headlines.

[-] -1 points by Builder (4202) 10 years ago

The TPP the megacorps are trying to sell across the Asia-Pacific zone isn't about partnerships, rather than it's about indemnifying the invading corporations from habitat destruction. They want everything, and they don't want to pay for it.

[-] 2 points by Renneye (3874) 10 years ago

Ahhh...interesting take. Kind of like with PNAC and the Superhighway corridor of the North American Union. Uh-oh, did I really just say that? ~.^

[-] -1 points by Builder (4202) 10 years ago

One of the big tobacco companies has found a loophole in an old law, and they currently attempting to sue our federal Aus govt over the recent shift to plain packaging on all tobacco products. This has alerted our govt to the ramifications of this TPP. Lucky, really.

Once bitten, twice shy. No news on how much this court case is likely to cost us, but it won't be cheap. Still, valuable lesson learned.

Not everyone appearing on the horizon, smiling, is friendly.

[-] 3 points by Renneye (3874) 10 years ago

Sad to say, but the higher the cost, the better. The more outrageous it becomes, the more attention it will get...thus alerting the masses and opening their mind to a more panoptic view of the crimes the .01% are perpetrating globally.

[-] -2 points by Builder (4202) 10 years ago

We got rid of the gold standard a while ago.

Our govt is trying to shift to the yuan as our reserve currency, and is learning the hard way about our situation as a US lapdog. Hopefully our independents in govt can maintain a sense of reason, and avoid further disaster capitalism.

Time will tell. There's probably not much left to sell.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 10 years ago

And they do not want to be clean or safe about it - not one least little bit.

[-] -1 points by Builder (4202) 10 years ago

It gets worse.

They also want to bypass our work health laws, and our quarantine requirements, and be allowed to bring their own cheap labour in, via their own airports.

You can see why they are pushing for a world without borders. They won't have to deal with red tape, or regulations.

[-] 2 points by JadedCitizen (4277) 10 years ago

I think pretty soon is already here, I keep hearing about this Eurozone place.

[-] 6 points by Renneye (3874) 10 years ago

Heheheh...looks like I stand corrected!

For their sake...these Corporate Globalist/Banksters/.01% better have some island they can flee to. I don't know how these slugs think they can walk among us when the SHTF!

[-] 5 points by JadedCitizen (4277) 10 years ago

You're too kind. I don't even give a damn about their sake....and slugs are only good for stepping on.

[-] 5 points by Renneye (3874) 10 years ago

O, brutal 'JC'! Lol!!

I recently told someone here that if one could be imprisoned for their thoughts...then I'd be in jail. 'Cause I dream about doing some pretty horrible, gruesome things to the .01%!!

There...is that better? ~.^

[-] 3 points by Renneye (3874) 10 years ago

Oh my...careful, you'll make me blush, 'gm'. ~.^

Frankly, I can't get away with posting anything even remotely conspiratorial. Many others do, and manage to talk quite openly about it, which is great by the way...but I get railed for it, every time! Lol!!

[-] 2 points by gnomunny (6819) from St Louis, MO 10 years ago

Personally, I miss some of your more conspiratorial posts. It gave the forum a more 'well-rounded' feel. Hell, if all we talked about on here was politics, I'd have gone away a long time ago.

[-] 2 points by Renneye (3874) 10 years ago

From below; Ahh, thanks for the reminder of Fritz Springmeier and the 'slides' info. It's been a while.

Yep, there are a few here that would greatly benefit from that information. Hmmmm...

I have it on good authority that Sovaye and Leynna only come out to play for emergencies. I'll do my best to summon them from their Swedish pagan forest rituals, and let them know you're asking.

Nah, your delivery has always been fine. It's more of a "first they ridicule you, etc . . . "

Besides, there are a whole host of people that suffer from what Springmeier called, 'slides,' something I think you may have pointed out to me. I can think of at least one glaring example of a forum member that suffers from this (speaking of Bigfoot!).

But, if you really don't want to post any more subjects that skirt the boundaries of C-T's, that's okay. Maybe I can get a hold of Sovaye, or Leynna to do it instead. ;-)

Hmmmm....don't tempt me 'gm'!

I just have to say the words 'TPP' and 'secret meetings', and I get 'bigfoot' back! Lol!! Even though several others here have raised the issue of TPP (which is great btw!). I don't know...maybe its something in my delivery!

As it is, I've already gone my rounds with Thras...and he has been conspicuously quiet as of late. We wouldn't want to resurrect those tempestuous times, now would we?

He'd get all huffy and say something silly...I'd have to call him something back.... like 'nincompoop'...he'd throw a fit and toss his animal crackers, and round, and round we'd go.

But ...it sure was fun sometimes. ~.^

We got screwed over royally in the last round of "free trade" agreements. Maybe that's why govt's only get four years to play. Time for some new players, new bribes, new "partnerships" in crime.

[-] 4 points by JadedCitizen (4277) 10 years ago

Yeah, the four year hiatus should stop power from getting to entrenched, but the new players just end up using the same old playbook. We need a new playbook.

When I did some further reading about the ND state Bank, I read that it is in jeopardy because of the TPP/ Something about the ND Bank having some sort of unfair advantage over Foreign banks that would be let loose here if that treasonous treaty is passed.

This issue is the big one for all to be in the streets nationwide.

When are we doing something on tihis issue. Most people never heard of it.

Ps I voted r. Anderson, (I had safe state--would have considered Obama as lesser evil, if it had been close here. We should not let repubs in any national position of power.) on that we should all agree.

There needs to be an electable green party candidate all the progressives can get behind, and we need more candidates at all levels.

Looks like justice party is recruiting requesting candidates at all levels, looks like they're focusing more at local levels. See forum if interested http://www.justicepartyusa.org/

[-] 1 points by quantumystic (1710) from Memphis, TN 10 years ago

no what we need is a libertarian-progressive party like the old bull-moose party. some of the main platform issues would be monopoly/too big to fail busting, direct democracy, preservation of the environment, balancing the budget, free healthcare and free education, living wage, restoration of civil rights and liberties, end the war on drugs, end to the war on terror and close foreign bases, end the fed, secure the borders and enforce existing legislation focusing on the the prosecution of those who hire illegal aliens(if you can't pay americans enough to do it i guess you need to find a new line of work or modernize and pay a skilled wage for the operators of machinery) while at the same time crafting reasonable legislation to deal with those presently in country to achieve citizenship with in 15 years(yeah up to 15 years to be a citizen with some kind of legal worker program for the period till it is achieved), throw the book at those who sheltered their money in off shore accounts, things along these lines are what the majority of americans wants. and there is a good chance that social media will facilitate this happening sooner than later. look you are never going to get a candidate that says everything you want but there is enough on the right and the left and middle for a candidate like this to fuck the NWO all up.
