The German police took off their helmets and escorted the Blockupy Frankfurt protest. Police are escorting, not participating. Reports of an estimated 20,000+ protesters took to the streets. Nice to see their faces…. masks off and their humanity coming through…
Strong unions are more important that we realize.
I remember in early November of last year talking to a guy on the perimeter of Zuccotti/Liberty Park who proudly told me that his daughter was staying there, and he pointed to her tent. As we started to talk more, he told me that he was in the NYPD, in one of the outer boroughs. I was stunned, and I regret walking away from our conversation.
Don't regret the missed opportunity.
If his daughter was impressed, he knows now anyway.
I'll likely be down voted for responding, but it's why I think stronger unions here can only help.
Yes, i just wish that I would have gotten a little more insight as to his feelings, but like I said he was proud of his daughter. That was very clear, and in the end, that says it all.
Yes, the concerted effort between business and government to rid the country of unions is one of the major factors for the huge wealth disparity in the country today.

Inspiring indeed, it's what can happen when there is strong support for unions.
We could use some of that here.

Our police are pretty well militarized these days, but you never know.
They too , may finally see the light.

maybe the german protesters are smarter than the goons here.
They encourage strong unions in Germany.
It makes for conditions of solidarity.
