This post is a response to the excellant post: "NOTE TO ALL OWS supporters: If we engage in great TACTICS WITHOUT THE RIGHT MINDSET the end result won't be nearly as powerful" by therising @ http://occupywallst.org/forum/note-to-all-ows-supporters-if-we-engage-in-great-t/

Gandhi and King had one other thing in common, purpose. There needs to be purpose to give focus to change. If there is no purpose no one knows what to change.

MLK's 1963 march on Washington was titled "The March on Washington for Jobs and Justice". It had specific purpose. It achieved much of the purpose of justice with the 1964 Civil Rights Act and the 1965 Voting Rights Act. It did not get the jobs and this injustice resulted in five years of city burning civil unrest across America. This unrest was then used by Richard Nixon in 1971 to set back the Voting Rights Act by creating, in collusion with the Dixie-crats in Congress, the Drug War that has since mass disenfranchised millions poverty oppressed and mostly minority urban Americans effectively neutralizing the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

I'm a bit confused, I'm a half supporter, big pro for parts, vehemently against others, but these seem to be periphery causes of OWS. What is the core, central ideal, or is this movement merely trying to be a cure-all? (the kind warned about in the above post)

We think that Martin Luther King was one of the greatest heroes of our time. He accomplished more than any of his contemporaries. Martin Luther King lived during troubled times. He was in search of truth and find a mentor in Thoreau. He was a Christian minister so he did believe in Jesus Christ.

Martin wanted to keep up the family tradition, so he decided to become a minister. He graduated from Morehouse College in 1948 and then went to Crozer Seminary to become a minister. It was at Crozer that Martin learned about the Disneyland version of Gandhi. He must have learned that Gandhi was an important leader in India. It is very doubtful if Dr. King did any depth study of Gandhi’s action in South Africa.

It is doubtful if The Reverend Martin Luther ever heard about Gandhi’s support for all the British wars, and that Gandhi was the self-proclaimed “Recruiter in Chief” for the Empire sending thousands to be used as connon fodder.

GANDHI ON BLACKS AND RACE RELATIONS (Zulus and Kaffirs were African tribes in South Africa)

* “A general belief seems to prevail in the colony that the Indians are little better, if at all, than the savages or natives of Africa. Even the children are taught to believe in that manner, with the result that the Indian is being dragged down to the position of a raw Kaffir.” (Reference: The Collected Works of Mahatma Gandhi, Government of India (CWMG), Vol I, p. 150)
* Regarding forcible registration with the state of blacks: “One can understand the necessity for registration of Kaffirs who will not work.” (Reference: CWMG, Vol I, p. 105)
* “Why, of all places in Johannesburg, the Indian Location should be chosen for dumping down all the Kaffirs of the town passes my comprehension…the Town Council must withdraw the Kaffirs from the Location.” (Reference: CWMG, Vol I, pp. 244-245)
* His description of black inmates: “Only a degree removed from the animal.” Also, “Kaffirs are as a rule uncivilized - the convicts even more so. They are troublesome, very dirty and live almost like animals.” - Mar. 7, 1908 (Reference: CWMG, Vol VIII, pp. 135-136)
* The Durban Post Office: One of Gandhi’s major “achievements” in South Africa was to promote racial segregation by refusing to share a post office door with the black natives.
* Sergeant Major Gandhi: Learn how Gandhi became a Sgt. Major in the British Army and eagerly participated in the 1906 British war against the black Zulus.
* Gandhi and South African Blacks: Gandhi wrote extensively about his experiences with the blacks of South Africa. He always termed them “Kaffirs” and his writings reveal a deep-seated disdain for these African natives

If Dr. King had known about about the Zulus (African tribe) and the Kaffirs (African tribe), he surely would have voiced his concern.Gandhi condones Zulu massacres and defends the British.

INDIVIDUAL SOVEREIGNTY is the PURPOSE of: White House website sponsored petition PUBLIC VOTE on the COMPETING FINAL DEMOCRATIC vs FINAL REPUBLICAN vs INDEPENDENT VERSIONS of a CONGRESSIONAL BILL. http://wh.gov/bhC For example, both the Republican and Democratic parties claim to have tax code and healthcare reform plans, etc. Fine, put them in writing. Here the media polls and media talk shows would have something real to talk about before submitting the competing versions to the final decision-making responsibility of We the People.

OWS protesters could act on this SIGNING STATEMENT demanding a PUBLIC VOTE OPTION be incorporated as a new legislative continuing JOINT RESOLUTION. Binding on Congress itself to pass along the public majority winning version of a bill to the President. The legislative precedent being no legal difference between a joint resolution and a bill.

White House rules are Petitions receiving 25,000 votes in 30 days, are referred to evaluation followed by official White House statement. Petitions CANNOT be SEARCHED on WHITE HOUSE WEBSITE until it gets 150 VOTES. This link, same as above, is only way to initiate petition: http://wh.gov/bhC

Legislative PUBLIC VOTE OPTION re-strikes the BALANCE OF POWER between representation and democracy, effecting CAMPAIGN FINANCE REFORM via re-directing the CASH FLOW. Not sure how? Sign the petition and find out, effect starts immediately.

Pick a point and make it. I can't make sense of your posting.

Justice is the point: "In his A Theory of Justice, John Rawls used a social contract argument to show that justice, and especially distributive justice, is a form of fairness: an impartial distribution of goods. Rawls asks us to imagine ourselves behind a veil of ignorance that denies us all knowledge of our personalities, social statuses, moral characters, wealth, talents and life plans, and then asks what theory of justice we would choose to govern our society when the veil is lifted, if we wanted to do the best that we could for ourselves" (wiki).

My posting is suggested as a means "to do the best that we could for ourselves" collectively on a legislative basis (i.e., fix the psychologically broken system).
