I'm trying to construct a dialogue about this issue. It is important to get it solved within a few days so the movement does not get distracted with infighting and the irony of the situation. Wouldn't it be terrible if the movement splintered because of money?
Yeah that would be irony alright. Transparency needs to be the main focus of the movement. It's not the government or the central bank that is fucking things up. I think It's part secrecy, part us not paying attention that's doing the most damage.

What issue? that link is to a post where you simply state/claim that 500k is "too much money" to have,. and that 1/2 should be given to a random charity, in other words,. utter pointless stupidity.
Prove it. Can you give me some proof of your claims or examples? If not I'm afraid I have no reason to place any weight on this.
The facts are in the books that no one but the GA has access to.
So what do you recommend? It seems to me that if the movement has books they should be open and that should be a subject of the next meeting. But until you have proof that they get a salary I think that PsillyCyban's approach is better than simply declaring that they are paid. If they are taking money and not even troubling to get porta-johns then I will have no truck with them but if there is another reason then they should make the books open and explain it.
It has been over a month and one of the most basic functions has been ignored, the treasury. Why do you suppose that is?
Right, I agree that books should be open I'm just not looking for a conspiracy so much as a concrete proposal to fix it. Again I don't assume that they are taking a salary until I see evidence to that effect.

You are correct that the GA should create the model of transparency. Maybe this is your chance to participate, Do you have accounting skills, or other other skills to contribute?
We need open source who is handling what and where and why are they allowed to do so, is it by concensus, reports of when the concensus reached this. Receipts of purchaces etc

OWS does not have a taxpayer status. All donations are funneled through another 501c that is facilitating the redistribution. My concern is that although much ofOWS is well organized, one of the most basic functions seems to be terribly disorganized and ratjer secretive. From an accounting standpoint something just does not seem right.
Maybe they just dont want donors to be scrutinized for donating to them. Maybe they don't want people knowing there next move in a protest. Yes they have to report all earning to the IRS u may not be able to go down there now and see but at sum time sumone is going to be held accountable for money coming in. If they are stealing I wouldn't want to be on the end of that sword. Most hated man in America status. The media would fry him America would eat him the protester would shit him out all because he funneled a little money off the top. Would be very stupid. Plus I donated money and food have you??? Why do you care about my 40 bucks here when the banks took 45000 dollars from me

No matter how much you scream and shout there will always be bad people who are charismatic speakers that trick the masses into listening to them. This is just another example. OWS now has it's own 1%.
