1250, found at 1250now.org, is a brand new group I'm involved in, a kind of complement to McKibben's 350 (although McKibben's promise to help us has not come to much thus far), and is organized around a methane target of 1250. We just came online and we have a new petition - see link below - which hopefully you'll want to sign and circulate to friends.

This isn't meant to be some kind of all-in-one promise of a climate change cure-all. That doesn't exist, folks. However, we have top-level science behind us, with Mike MacCracken, chief scientist at Climate Institute, as our top advisor, Peter Wadhams, perhaps the world's best sea ice scientist, etc. And basically, much more has to be done about near-term climate, and most just don't understand that there are few options for impacting that - most CO2 source reductions have no impact until after about 2040, although we of course need to be making them, if we want to have a livable world after 2040! But arctic risks are getting very high now, and this is a program of things put together that could really help.......lowering methane is a key part of it, so it ties right in to the fight on fracking.....
