for the Conservatives, put on some dirty clothes, and go walk the streets among the homeless for a day, your life will change for the better.

....

for the Liberals, put on some dirty clothes, and go walk around the failing projects of the 70's, and see how it's keeps people in poverty, your life will change for the better.

....

We are ALL F*CKED up ... Let's make a CHANGE

There is nothing that Ties this country together.

We don't have common Ground when we talk to other Americans (Norte/North Americans). We could not form a country or Union today if we wanted to. Matter of fact I heard there were 11 States that have pushed forward exploritory committees or some legislation toward "sessesion".

Okay we had a Bill of Rights and a US Constitution, but the Supreme Court has been bought off. And the 1% are corrupted by the possibilities of more money and bigger deals and more status and power. End Lobbying.

well... if we can't do it (unite beyond all barriers) ... after being so screwed over like we have been... well then we might as well call ourselves the 49% .. no ?

[-] 1 points by Middleaged (5140) 12 years ago

The many divisions I see are 1) repub & Democrat 2) Rich & Poor 3) Judgemental controllers & Laid back easy going 4) Religious & Non Religious 5) Those that want land in the country and guns & those that want to live in the city with many other people 6) Smart engineers, Technocrats & then the people that aren't so educated 7) People that have land and some house in the country & those that don't have property or much future 8) those with Jail Time, difficulty getting employment, difficulty getting apartments & those that have clean records that will say too bad 9) those that drink alcohol or take drugs & those that will say put those in jail 10) Those that don't see how we screwed the Native Americans and had a slavery economy and those that know the Shadow Side of US History 11) Those that know about US Covert Actions in Foreign Sovereign nations & those that don't admit any blemish on the US History.

[-] 2 points by BradB (2693) from Washington, DC 12 years ago

is that division or is that diversity ? .... can't we all come together right now ;) ... and demand our Country & our freedom & our prosperity back ?

[-] 2 points by Middleaged (5140) 12 years ago

[-] 1 points by Okay1 (20) 12 years ago

Nope. The regulars here still believe in the Magic Negro. And they still believe all the evil in the world is caused by republicans. They are too limited in intellect to see that they are one and the same.

[-] 1 points by BradB (2693) from Washington, DC 12 years ago

F*CK U ... too ... damn-it... we have to join together

[-] 2 points by ronniepaul2012 (214) 12 years ago

Yes we do, but there is a lot of negativeness tossed at anyone on this site who leans right. Witness your reply to Okay.

When I say lean right, I mean I fear the growing police state. I can't believe kids today get thrown out of school for an aspirin in their purse. I am extremenly unhappy about Patriot Act, Ndaa, TSA at train stations and our highways. Our federal govt spending more than we take in The rich buying elections Drones being deployed over our country to aid law enforcement Cameras on every corner More and more kids having babies without marriage, tho they live together and thus mommy gets food stamps.....I am talking about whie kids, btw

For whatevr reason, the msg of the 'right' politicans has resonated better with me and a lot of folks that are called trolls on this site.

We are not really different in our goals and dreams. We argue more about right/left than right/wrong.

[-] 1 points by godsbestjoke (122) 12 years ago

Are you ok?...Witness the reply?/? Okay practically called the President a nigger while calling anyone who slightly agrees with him stupid.

I agree with BradB.

I DO agree with the right/wrong comment though.

[-] 1 points by BradB (2693) from Washington, DC 12 years ago

I do it to.... BUT we ALL need to CHANGE.... we need to let go of the past ... if we are going to WIN the game....

and btw... I acknowledge your focus on issues... STATESMAN .. ;)

There is no perfection, there is only less bad and worse.

UNITY is our only chance.

Unite and Win! Unite and Win! 2010 Never EVER Again!!

[-] 1 points by godsbestjoke (122) 12 years ago

Jiffy is right. Unity really is our only chance. Thing is, it almost always takes a great divisional-conflict in order to bring that unity about. I believe this IS that great division.

OCCUPY!

[-] 0 points by JIFFYSQUID92 (-994) from Portland, OR 12 years ago

OK! Now let's do it!!

Unite and Win! Unite and Win! 2010 Never EVER Again!!

Don't denigrate Liberals. WE SUPPORT OWS.

Conservatives, if you haven't noticed, don't. They are, in fact, the 1% or their supporters.

The people are not one monolithic entity. There are supporters and detractors among us. Identifying our friends AND enemies is critical to our success. Lumping them together alienates our friends and gladdens the hearts of our enemies, because the latter knows we are lost.

[-] 3 points by BradB (2693) from Washington, DC 12 years ago

F*CK U ... too ... damn-it... we have to join together ... we need to talk ISSUES.... we need to be STATESMAN ... not POLITICIANS

[-] 1 points by epa1nter (4650) from Rutherford, NJ 12 years ago

You don't get it. The definition of conservative is one who want to CONSERVE the status quo. Is that what we want? The status quo?

I REJECT, categorically, your lumping me together with defenders of the Koch brothers, or the wars, or the banks and wall street. I reject your telling me that I am the same as a defender of the 1%.

We have to join together LIKE MINDED people, not those who would destroy us.

[-] 2 points by BradB (2693) from Washington, DC 12 years ago

Let it go Epa... please ...., WE are All in this together.... WE All have mis-guided Ideas .... we will NEVER Win against those in power if we are not united .... We need 99% ... that's ALL of us ....

[-] 1 points by epa1nter (4650) from Rutherford, NJ 12 years ago

Let it go, Brad. Yes, we are indeed all in this together, but there are some who don't understand this simple fact, and are doing everything they can to hurt us. They don't understand that they're hurting themselves too, but that makes no difference; they still fight us at every turn. They are the unwitting agents of the 1%. And they are called conservatives, not liberals. Just look around these fora. Do GypsyKing, or Zendog or you or me sound like smartcapitalist of headlesscross or any of the other conservative trolls defecating their fear and hatred here? I'm frankly insulted that you would lump me in their category. And I'm surprised that you don't see how dangerous that is.

[-] 2 points by BradB (2693) from Washington, DC 12 years ago

epa... I luv u...but let me tell u a story...

I spent 2 & a half yrs lobbying congress to help me build a school for the drug inflicted, incarcerated & homeless ... teaching Architectural Art's ... and they would have been paid while going thru the program... everyone liked it.... I had endorsements from a slew of members of congress.... and agency's ... finally Robert Woodson decided to fund it... (little money) .... and he was a republican.... I told one of my strong dem supporters that Robert picked it up... and she replied "You went to the enemy... don't ever talk to me again"... now... she was a powerful person in DC.... and I was only trying to do something good.... I didn't care who supported it.... I just wanted it supported... the division of our govt and our people is killing us.... we need to let go.... it's like the feud of the Hatfield's & the McCoy's ... we need to let the past go past or we will never win this fight ...

[-] 1 points by Middleaged (5140) 12 years ago

Wow! get a friend to threaten her with exposure in the press. Sounds like Hard Ball time.

[-] 1 points by BradB (2693) from Washington, DC 12 years ago

hehehe... but she is friend too ;)

[-] 1 points by Middleaged (5140) 12 years ago

She isn't being much help now. your goal is worth the risk. And you have to be able to look yourself in the eye everyday. I wish I had accompished more in my career, but now don't see anyself respect at this point (in myself). Everyone has to move forward and doing what you know is right and important will raise you to a new level of respect for yourself as well as in other peoples eyes.

[-] 1 points by BradB (2693) from Washington, DC 12 years ago

;) hey Middleaged ;) ... I know compared to you I am OldAged... I was part of the 60;s sds stuff... on the tail end... all that matters in life imo... is being able to hold u're head up high and know that you have learned and will not compromise your values anymore... life it a fantastic learning curve... and this is only first grade ... I hope I don't flunk and have to come back... hehehe

[-] 2 points by Middleaged (5140) 12 years ago

Thanks, Buddy. It is slow progress this year. But there is a sun rising in the East.

[-] 1 points by epa1nter (4650) from Rutherford, NJ 12 years ago

I understand where you are coming from. We all have similar stories. (Though not, perhaps as dramatic as yours.) But you have to understand the the conservatives (of both parties) are the ones who created the mess we are in. Not an individual one or two, but the ideology as a whole. It is in fact this very ideology that we are fighting, the very reason the OWS's existence.

Simply because it was a Democrat who turned you down doesn't mean much. She was engaged more in power politics that being a decent Liberal. It was, in fact, her abandoning of liberal principles that is so disturbing. Nor was the underfunding offered by a conservative meaningful. He might have been willing to throw a few crumbs your way, but it is his ideology that helped make your school necessary in the first place.

I get that you're talking about people, not ideologies. But people are generally ideological creatures. And although we can't be opposed to individual people, the overall agenda of the right is absolutely pernicious, and must be fought will all the strength and resources we have available. Perhaps we are talking past each other a bit. But I reacted strongly and negatively to your incendiary tone in the OP. Although I know a few kind hearted people who call themselves conservatives, (as well as the converse) it is a set of ideas and broad practices we we must oppose. It's just like when we demonize the 1%. We're nat talking about individuals. "the 1%" is only a meme. We are talking about en entire system, and that system, and the desire to preserve it, is conservative. And frankly, I refuse to be lumped together with that system.

[-] 1 points by BradB (2693) from Washington, DC 12 years ago

I believe I understand where you are coming from... and I do agree w/ most of it... but we have to also look past our defenses a bit imo... and see thru to what many of the opposing side are thinking and desiring...maybe together we might actually develop something better than by ourselves...

anyway... I know it's hard when someone come here shouting F*CK OWS.... and I have blasted them too ... but really we need us all... and all do have something valuable to say... once we get past our politics.... we do need to unite.... and the more of us that do... the easier it will be for others to join.... we need to get together .... and honestly a lot of what we think... All of us... has been brain-washed into us .... ;)

oh... btw.. I apologize for the FCK u too comment... but we got to be fair ;) & FCK me too ... I've been part of the partisanship too ...

[-] 1 points by Kirby (104) 12 years ago

You must accept 99%, that is the gig here. If you can't, and start ruling out any of the 99%, the group becomes a house of phoniness. We are the 99% means ALL must be accepted, or the slogan must die and morph to something true.

[-] 2 points by epa1nter (4650) from Rutherford, NJ 12 years ago

Conservatism is an idea. That idea created the mess we are in. It is not about individuals, but the central ideas. Conflating liberalism with conservatism is like conflating the oppressor with the oppressed, the imperialist with the slave. Yes they are all people, but they don't serve the same cause. confusing the two is dangerous.
