Forum Post: FBI Spam aiming to demoralize and disrupt Occupy Movement

Posted 12 years ago on Jan. 11, 2012, 11:46 p.m. EST by zuleika (1)
This content is user submitted and not an official statement

Negative and disparaging comments, personal attacks against individuals and the Occupy Movement are hallmarks of intelligence agency activity designed to disrupt and demoralise the movement (psychological operations – ‘psy ops’ for short). They also waste peoples’ time with distracting and irrelevant comments.

The FBI and other agencies pay American agents to write these type of comments. FBI agents (and other ‘secret police’ activities) are a big part of the systemic corruption problem in our political/economic system – these people are a ‘scourge’ on strong democratic values (liberty, equality and justice), they are the foot soldiers at the front line helping undermine democracy. They savage legitimate protest movements and causes like OWS for the personal financial gain of the agents who are more interested in their careers than protecting democracy.

Just ignore their comments and ban them from the site. Stay focused on the OWS cause – corrupted democracy and corporate interests. As one US senator said, we are living with a new form of fascism – this is the problem the Occupy Movement is addressing.

Is there any proof to what you say. Without some proof it just looks like you can't understand why some people disagree with you, so you assume they are hired.

[-] 1 points by ARod1993 (2420) 12 years ago

Honestly, I could care less who's paying whom to do what or who's doing what on whose orders. Here's how it breaks down as far as I'm concerned:

There are two different groups of people on here who disagree with or disparage Occupy Wall Street. The first group is composed of rational, intelligent people who are unclear on our motives, uncomfortable with our tactics, or who simply don't see a need for our continued existence. We really should treasure that bunch for two reasons: first off, if there's something legitimately wrong with how things are being handled they'll be the first to catch it, and promptly acting on their criticisms when those criticisms are legitimate make us a far better movement. Second, people who disagree with you and are willing to be articulate about why make some of the best sparring partners out there, and if you're willing to engage them in legitimate debate, even if you wind up still disagreeing the experience will leave you a lot quicker on your feet and a lot more aware of what exactly you're arguing and that's an incredible asset to have.

The second group is composed of idiots who don't really have anything to add to the discussion and either get off on raising everyone's blood pressure or are simply full of hate or delusional. That group is collectively referred to as the trolls, and nobody really knows or cares why or how they originate, but the fact is that they're as much a part of unmoderated forums as vanishing socks are a part of doing laundry. I'd posit that it doesn't really matter who the trolls are or where they come from, and theorizing about COINTELPRO or the NSA or whatever other boogeyman we can think of just makes us look weak and paranoid.

[-] 3 points by JPB950 (2254) 12 years ago

I can pretty much agree with what you've said. There is that touch of paranoia in the air, when someone just assumes anyone that disagrees is being paid to do so. There really aren't any new ideas coming out of these posts that would warrant anyone bothering to pay someone to interfere. Your trolls are most likely just self motivated or whatever reason.

[-] 2 points by Gilbert (8) 12 years ago

is there any evidence for this?

[-] 0 points by Thrasymaque (-2138) 12 years ago

No. It's a conspiracy theory that has been created by a few users here. None of them have been able to produce evidence that paid trolls are lurking this forum. As you know, conspiracy theorists like to claim they have uncovered "truths" when all they have are possibilities. Of course, it's also entirely possible that no paid trolls lurk this forum ;-)

[-] 2 points by viperx86 (1) 12 years ago

Look up the U.S Counter- Insurgency manual, FM 31-20-3, I believe, or somewhere real close to that. Things are playing out just as they had outlined in that plan, written during the 1960's by intelligence officials monitoring rebellions in South America and Cuba. Not just here in America, but world- wide. I have this funny feeling a "conspiracy" is going to show it's true colors soon...

No doubt there are both hired disrupters and those who disrupt it for the love of doing it, and for their hatred against OWS. I don't see trying to figure out which is which as being constructive.

[-] 1 points by iamspartacus222 (8) 12 years ago

Let's try to remember that we are all one in this cause. We all have different opinions on a lot of things but diversity can be our strength I'd we DON'T let it seperate us! Odds are you are here because you recognize that our nation an planet have a problem and you have at least some level of concern. Let's focus on that! Let's focus on healing, repairing and building, rather than our egoic need to assert our correctness over others. This movement is a blessing and for now we still have the FREE SPEECH to do this, let us show the Universe that we deserve it and not abuse it with pettiness and bickering. WE can do so much more than you or I can. WE the people! Love and solidarity-spartacus

I haven't seen any evidence that the FBI is here to disrupt the movement. But yes, there are alot of people that post nonsense here in an attempt to disrupt. There is even a small organized group that advocates doing this. Saying that the FBI or other government agencies are here organized against us, without any proof, is nonsense. It's far more likely that it is simply dumbwits and idiots.

[-] 0 points by avirgintomorrow (2) 12 years ago

Why take any chances? It's not like its beyond them. The point is to be vigilant because the possibility is real enough to be assumed true, as far as I'm concerned. So if your point as that we should drop our guard in this regard, the answer is no. Your point is still taken, but the answer is still no.

[-] 1 points by April (3196) 12 years ago

What do I have to be vigilant about? I hope the FBI is here, monitoring the forum. OWS has already been involved with clashes with authority. OWS wants to be a revolution to overthrow our government. So, I hope the FBI is here. If they want to chit chat with me about the economy or banking reform, why should I care? They have every right to voice their opinions here, as much as anyone else does.

[-] 0 points by Thrasymaque (-2138) 12 years ago

What's the point of keeping your guard up? Paid agents can only post comments like anyone else. If they pose arguments on the table, you can only counter-argue in proper fashion or ignore their arguments. Saying they are paid agents is a logical fallacy: appeal to motive, or ad hominem.

[-] 1 points by nomdeguerre (1775) from Brooklyn, NY 12 years ago

We need to educate ourselves on their COINTELPRO tactics. http://occupywallst.org/forum/cointelpro-psyops-we-need-to-be-aware-of-their-tac/

[-] 1 points by buphiloman (840) 12 years ago

Correction nomdeguerre...you need to educate yourself on the location of the nearest therapist. And stop listing to Alex Jones 24/7.

[-] 1 points by avirgintomorrow (2) 12 years ago

I don't listen to Alex Jones at all but I know you'd have to be a total moron to believe that the government is above this sort of thing. They stoop lower than this in public, so it it's only nature to assume that what goes on beyond the public witness is worse than we can imagine. You've been conditioned to trust the government without question. If that doesn't require therapy....

[-] 0 points by nomdeguerre (1775) from Brooklyn, NY 12 years ago

buphiloman - let me remember that idiot's name.

Well J. Edgar Hoover was their God. So much for the best and the brightest.

[-] 3 points by JenLynn (692) 12 years ago

Yet when Hoover first became the director he reformed the agency, made it more efficient. Too bad the power corrupted him and he's only remembered for the abuses.

Yet another new conspiracy theory. Every day that I come to this site, there is a new conspiracy theory. I'm coming to this site, and paying attention to the Occupy movement in general, less and less with each passing week. Partly because of this kind of thing.

[-] 3 points by avirgintomorrow (2) 12 years ago

Here's something that might burn. The now anemic accusation of a conspiracy theory isn't effective in forcing people to back away from what they see as true. So you can repeat the tired, over-used standard until you're blue in the face, people will continue to call it as they see it, despite your efforts. That tactic may work on the Fox News devotees, but if the people here were that easily manipulated, we wouldn't be here. And by the way. You seem an awful lot like the very type of individual this article refers too. Which means you will not be granted the credibility to have the effect you hoped to have.

[-] -2 points by Thrasymaque (-2138) 12 years ago

TechJunkie is one of the few good posters around here.

[-] 1 points by TechJunkie (3029) from Miami Beach, FL 12 years ago

Wow, this thread devolved in a very predictable way.

I'm taking longer and longer breaks between visits to this site, and it doesn't look like I'm missing very much.

[-] -3 points by Thrasymaque (-2138) 12 years ago

Indeed. The forum moderators need to take care of this. It's time to zap all the conspiracy theorists back to their wacko sites where they came from.

[+] -4 points by shadz66 (19985) 12 years ago

Who needs the "FBI (to) Spam aiming to demoralize and disrupt Occupy Movement", when we've got You and your porn-posting alter-egos, eh ?!

[-] -2 points by Thrasymaque (-2138) 12 years ago

You're still going on about the porn? Wow! You conspiracy theorists are too much! Do you ever look for evidence, or do you build all your claims from mountains of dubious assumptions?

You make OWS look like it's made up of young illogical high school students.

[+] -6 points by shadz66 (19985) 12 years ago

When faced with your towering intellect, I shudder and wonder how to emulate you ! NOT !!

Your opinion of OWS and posters on this forum is so low that your increasingly reactionary posts here make me wonder exactly what it is you think you are contributing or even doing here. Unless of course you're being remunerated for your time by your 'Dark Overlords', lol !!!

Keep Trolling (no matter, how subtly) from the sidelines, your irrelevance and 'Conservatism' become ever more clearly evident with every post that you make (& get paid for ?, lolx2!!)

Your name may not be 'Ozymandias' but I"look upon your works and despair".

Alius Et Idem ...

[-] -2 points by Thrasymaque (-2138) 12 years ago

If you think it helps OWS to pass off assumptions as truths and to spread conspiracy theories around as if they were legitimate science, then you should keep doing what you're doing.

I help OWS by promoting logical thought and destroying the postings of mentally ill conspiracy theorists.

We all do what we have to do.

[+] -5 points by shadz66 (19985) 12 years ago

And what you "have to do" is a function of your arrogance and hubris, as evidenced by your own profile :

"We are all born sophists, and our only cure is Socrates. But, Socrates never faced Socrates, his sophistry was therefore never expunged. Sophists, like my former self and your current self, only appear as sophists because Socrates shines his light on us, but, as this light is being shun so is our sophistry diminished, until, finally, the day we are fully cleansed. I am no longer the Thrasymaque you once knew. I have died, been washed, and am now reborn. I am the Socrates who has faced Socrates. My mission is the betterment of manmind."

Good luck with perfecting your sophistry and with "the betterment" of Your Own 'Mind', man !!

"We all do what we have to do." & I end by agreeing with that.

[-] -3 points by Thrasymaque (-2138) 12 years ago

I have nothing to learn from conspiracy theorists, and I'm not about to leave while your kind is still around. You need to be exterminated if OWS wants a chance to be taken seriously, and that's exactly what I'm here for.

[+] -6 points by shadz66 (19985) 12 years ago

"Exterminated" ?!!! Niiice !! I'll now add 'Quasi-Totalitarian, Crypto-Fascist' to your list of attributes ! lol ...

[-] -2 points by Thrasymaque (-2138) 12 years ago

I consider conspiracy theorists as the cockroaches of humankind. They must be exterminated from this forum if OWS wants to be perceived as a group of logical individuals.

[+] -5 points by shadz66 (19985) 12 years ago

Oi, numbnuts ... I've posted on Much More than 9/!! and you know it & further, your puppy-dog loyalty to "The Official 9/!! Conspiracy Theory" (you know, The One whose 'Report' doesn't even acknowledge the existence of WTC7 !!!) is really rather sweet, no matter how misguided !!!

Although it is you, yourself bringing up the matter ; I do accept that 9/!! is a potentially a major distraction to all things OWS & though I absolutely reserve the right to comment on any thread as I see fit, I have never instigated a 'forum-post' & thread on the matter - unlike your (schizoid?) self as I recall !!

Finally, your insistence on again using the word "exterminated" firmly cements my previous post !

You're not an acolyte or protege of Alan Dershowitz are you ?! (cf. "Alan Dershowitz’ Attempt to Destroy a Memorial to Martin Luther King", by Gilad Atzmon : http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article30240.htm ) lux ?

You never stop with your mountains of assumptions do you? Anything else?

[-] 3 points by ShubeLMorgan2 (1088) from New York, NY 12 years ago

What are Atzmon's views on 9/11?

http://911scholars.org/ He participated in a 911 Truth event

AN INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM

DEBUNKING THE "WAR ON TERROR": THREE PERSPECTIVES

To view Part 1 (Fetzer)

The "war on terror" has been justified by 9/11, by religious and moral arguments, and by political persuasion. These speakers will address the crucial arguments for war: Have we been told the truth about 9/11? Do religion and morality support these wars? Does an analysis of the political language employed to justify them reveal a hidden agenda? They will demonstrate that the "war on terror" is a complete and unjustifiable fraud.

EXPERT SPEAKERS and POLITICAL COMMENTATORS:

Ken O'Keefe (Ireland/Palestine), Master of Ceremonies

James Fetzer (US), Founder, Scholars for 9/11 Truth "Are wars in Iraq and Afghanistan justified by 9/11?"

Kevin Barrett (US), Co-Founder, Muslims for 9/11 Truth "Islam, Neoconservatism, and the Unwarranted 'War on Terror'"

Gilad Atzmon (UK), Jazz Musician and Political Commentator "From Promised Land to Promised Planet: Zionism and Neoconservatism"

6:30-9:30 PM, 14 JULY 2010, FRIENDS HOUSE (OPPOSITE EUSTON STATION)

ADMISSION: £5 ON DOOR FROM 6:00 PM

I ask because at one time he had featured on his blog the famous "Building Seven collapse". Must be he at least thinks it merits discussion.

I am indeed quite weary. Conspiracy theorists are destroying logical thought. They are very dangerous.

[-] -2 points by Thrasymaque (-2138) 12 years ago

You're nothing but a conspiracy theorist who loves to dabble in seas of assumptions. That only drowns OWS in nonsense. It doesn't help.

[+] -6 points by shadz66 (19985) 12 years ago

You're an idiot & a "one trick pony", who seems to enjoy parading your intellectual limitations here. Honestly, I expect better from the FBI. They cannot possibly be this lame. This rhetoric is coming from some little uneducated paid for right wing group.

Even so, I am not demoralized in the least.

Here, just in case: Hi little FBI peeps!!! Ready for another 24 hours on the forum? Got some coffee? At some point, you are going to need it!!

Hi little right wing paid for shills!!! You guys must be shaking in your boots!!! Hi little Ron Paul wing nuts!!!! Hi little Alex Jones freaks!!!!

I believe that I have everybody covered.

[-] 1 points by avirgintomorrow (2) 12 years ago

If you think that's beneath the government, you must not know the government very well. My guess is that there is no concrete, smoking gun proof to support this assertion, nonetheless it would be foolish to act as though it's out of the question. But if it were me, I'd be more inclined to see that is a CIA sort of thing, they tend to be far more lowlife than the FBI.

[+] -6 points by GirlFriday (17435) 12 years ago

I don't think it's beneath either group. I do think that they would be better trolls though.
