Everyone should find what their passion is in connection with OWS and stand up for it. Mine is protecting the environment. OWS is mostly about corporate greed, but corporations use resources so it all boils down to being an environmentalist IMO. I don't care is some one is richer than me, i care about the 1 and only planet we live on. If you haven't seen "If a tree falls" you should watch it.

Whatever happens in the realm of society and politics, unless we revolutionize our relationship to nature, we won't survive.

If you were about protecting the environment, and someone trying to share the solution to oil dependence, or proposing methods to create sustainability, and utube blocked their video inspired by the gulf, BP leak from being posted as a response to gulf oil leak videos; you would be upset, right?

My video was blocked from being posted as a response video.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aek2xO4kFXQ

My channels were blocked from posting text comments to stop me from posting the video urls.

Would big oil block the solution to oil dependency? THINK, do you pay attention to what is easy to find that you are told about over all forms of popular media?

How do you find out about that which is blocked from popularity?

Environmentalists are the pawns of international fascism created by a lie with the goal of de-sovereignizing America and the rest of the world to benefit the power of a few men.

[-] 2 points by luparb (290) 12 years ago

Environmental destruction is a reality, and raising this awareness is detrimental to industrial capitalism and the fascism it spawns. Corporate power is the force destroying the environment for profit, it is not trying to save it.

Besides there is nothing 'sovereign' about America, it was born from the genocide of the native American Indians, just like the rest of the commonwealth.

Industrial development could be the best resource for the preservation and development of the environment. Consider a project like NAWAPA, the North American Water and Power Authority. First conceptualized during the JFK administration, it was researched and designed by the Army Corp of Engineers.

This program was intended to take the 50% of America's fresh water, which falls in Alaska, and redistribute it by the worlds most comprehensive system of aqueducts into the central American desert. Here it would provide water for agricultural land and eventually towns and cities.

Once used in agriculture, the water would evaporate and be distributed around America as rainfall encouraging the growth of both wild and agricultural vegetation. It would replenish our underground water supplies, which are rapidly being depleted.

A massive infrastructure development program would need to be put in place, employing millions of people, while our industrial, manufacturing base would need to be redeveloped to provide the products and materials needed for infrastructure development, providing millions of more good paying jobs.

The project would require both hydro and nuclear power generation plants to power it, also providing power to nearby communities, along with an advanced bullet train route to allow its construction and maintenance.

Projects like this are also needed in other areas of the world, for example to redistribute the abundant water from Siberia to arid central Asia, and could be connected to the American system through a bridge over or a tunnel under the Bering Strait.

Such a route would also allow trains to cross from Asia to America and back, improving the economies of both east and west, by increasing travel and trade.

I've supported OWS since the adbusters memo went out. I see people on here claiming to be a part of the movement, but have conflicting views such as supporting gun ownership or catholic sexual discrimination. I have always stood solidly against corporate greed, the rising federal debt, and floods of campaign cash coming from corporations, to name a few. I've solidly supported state's rights, economic justice, wealth redistribution, environmentalism, compulsory education, sterilization and volunteerism, and literary cleansing in certain circumstances.

It's not the "corporate greed" that most people think are the ones affecting the enviornment - it's the consumers - the people who buy things - they are the ones - the evil ones who are destroying this planet.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 12 years ago

That would be because the consumer controls the manufacturing process?????

[-] -2 points by SteveKJR (-497) 12 years ago

Yes indeedy they do. If they don't buy then people are out of work, plants shut down, and people complain because they don't have a job and can't afford to fulfil their wants and desires. Sort of like whats happening today.

People are unemployed because there are no jobs. I wonder what happened to all those good paying American jobs back in 2007 when everyone was on a roll and buying everything up.

I know they weren't overseas jobs because everyone here was working and spending like there was no tomorrow. Wonder if we will ever see them again? - they had to be good paying jobs because everyone was fat and happy

Environmentalist are the greatest hypocrites on this planet.

If true Environmentalists really believed in their own bullshit they would all take a self imposed dirt nap. Everyday they exist they deplete finite resources selfishly, while complaining and bitching and moaning about the rest of humanity destroying the planet.

Environmentalists are anathema to all things green and natural, yet they do nothing to lead by example. Showing the rest of us that they have the courage of their convictions would mean a Jim Jones Koolaid party, but they don't have the integrity it takes to walk the walk and talk the talk.

How can Environmentalists criticize anybody else about polluting or ruining the earth when in fact they are guilty of the same offense but have no courage to rectify the situation?

[-] 3 points by arcticaardvark (54) 12 years ago

So people should just do nothing about our resources being diminished? Saying they do nothing is a very weak argument. Chaining themselves to trees and being pepper-sprayed for 7 hours is a lot to take. HUMANS ARE DESTROYING THE PLANET!! THIS IS A FACT!! They should be bitching about it.

"Environmentalists are anathema to all things green and natural" huh??

Comparing environmentalist to Jim Jones is ridiculous. Get a life pal.

[-] -2 points by jaxxen (-19) 12 years ago

You need to actually read the post to understand what it is about.

"HUMANS ARE DESTROYING THE PLANET!! THIS IS A FACT!!"

If this is what you believe why don't you follow the advice in the post, otherwise you're being a hypocrite.

Key words are "self imposed dirt nap".

[-] 1 points by forourfutures (393) 12 years ago

Hah, someone is more than bitching, they seem to be offering a solutuion, but can you notice? This video is heavy, I'm glad you made this thread just cause some environmentalist/videographer was trying to find support by linking to their video that was blocked from video response promotions. WTF is with that 'cause iits right on, artful too? There is a mass of activism behind the video it if you remember the link at the end and use it.

You might be right, arcticaardvark is completely ignoring what looks like real solution. That is Bad Behavior LOL! That video,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aek2xO4kFXQ

really does point at the problem, behavior and arcticaardvark exhibits a default behavior that avoids the solution by not viewing and commenting. BTW, the url at the end, if you read the law there, you'll see, the producer encountered behaviors by US district courts, the 9th circuit AND the supreme court which also evade the solution!

The video actually addresses behavior in a scientific, psychological way, which all government evaded.

OMG, and they will not examine the solution. Blows me away. I can't believe you actually may be very correct. AND, it's only social courage they need. wtf?
