The wealthy profit when you take a sip of coke, eat broccoli, flush the toilet, drive to work, turn on the cable, pay the internet bill cut down the AC. And they profit if you get sick, if you go to jail. Much of this is inescapable, true. The current system demands we work in joyless jobs most of the time so we can get dollars and buy joy in the form of Iphones, music, internet, cable, fancy cars, fancy homes. If the jobs were a joy then we wouldn't need so many means of escaping our reality. The demand for entertainment would in fact decrease as we sang and joked and amused ourselves. We need to restructure what is considered successful. We need to redefine success. Hell, we need to redefine what passes for entertainment. What if no one would take a student loan? What if the 1% were the only ones to show up for college? What if people cut their cable? What if people opted to drive cheap used cars, what if we started saving for retirement in glorious mason jars? What if we bought a set of water color pencils and colored sheets printed off the internet instead of renting a movie? What if we sat around stringing beads and re-stringing and gifting them instead of buying jewelry? What if people who had lawns invested in a rototiller and some heirloom seeds? What if we saved money driving used cars and bought the equipment to make bread or pasta from grain? If the 1% wants to make it a third-world country so damn bad, why can't we give them a preview early? Why don't we cut the crap and stop taking the crap? Yeah we got to eat, but we can stop being so darn profitable. I am for directly attacking the symbols of success as symbols of success. $50,000 cars? Come on! We can play a different game. "Get what can and sit on it!" In stead of get what you can and try and buy back the joy that you have been robbed of!

Oh, come on! Even if Republicans run around buying name brand clothes, going to salons, over paying for cars and homes, the rest of us don't have to! We don't have to bow and scape because someone has a nicer car, hang our heads and do the "I'm so humble in the presence of your greatness!" shuffle to kiss the royal hiney. We need a social and cultural revolution and our values must change. I've heard a lot of crap about how the protesters are dressed as the Trolls try impose rank created threw a class system built on the glorious color of green and who has it and is therefore valuable and who doesn't and therefore isn't. Break that system down! You can be rewarded monetarily, the 99% doesn't have to reward you socially with status as well. Change the game. We need a movement to change the game.

Well put. You may be mildly attacked for saying these things, though. I made a comment a couple nights ago about Americans needing to change their mindset in regards to our rampant consumerism, for one. Among other things I was accused of thinking I was better than everyone else for suggesting this. Of course, that paled in comparison to the attack hchc received a couple weeks ago for saying essentially the same thing. Of course, he pisses people off a lot more than I.
