Drinking and Driving, a country into a ditch-------There must be laws against it.

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 10 years ago

No, no. There are laws against drinking and driving.

There are laws against drinking and receiving aid.

There are NO laws against drinking/drugging and legislating.

Apparently.........you have to be drunk to do that. At least in the GOP.

Breakdown: Here’s The Economic Cost Of Shutting Down The Government

By Annie-Rose Strasser | September 30, 2013 at 7:23 pm

If Congress doesn’t reach a deal by midnight tonight, the government shuts down.

A shutdown isn’t just bad politically, it can also be damaging to the United States’ economy, taking the paychecks of federal employees out of the mix, and disrupting tourism across the country.

Here’s a look at some of the latest numbers on how a shutdown might affect our economy:

1.) A shutdown that lasted between three and four week could cost the economy about $55 billion, by the estimate of Moody’s Analytics economist Brian Kessler.

2.) Washington, DC, would lose $200 million a day on lost wages and lost spending by those who get furloughed. That estimate doesn’t include tourism, and the huge losses DC will feel from the museums and national mall being closed.

3.) The shutdown would “reduce federal spending” by about $8 billion, which could reduce GDP growth by .8 percent annualized, according to a report released Monday by Goldman Sachs.

4.) Moody’s Analytics’ Mark Zandi pegs the amount lost in economic growth in the fourth quarter at as much as 1.4 percent.

5.) One billion dollars a week from the pay of the roughly 800,000 federal employees will be lost from the U.S. economy.

These numbers, of course, don’t count a lot of things: The loans that the Small Business Administration will stop making, the permits that the Environmental Protection Agency won’t issue, the contracts that will be put on hold, and the nutrition assistance for infants and mothers that won’t go out. Or, of course, a tanking stock market that could ruin consumer confidence.

As ThinkProgress’s Alan Pyke previously noted, “Most of the costs of a shutdown are hard to tabulate because they involve damage to consumer, investor, and business confidence coming out of a shutdown, and lost time spent preparing for the worst in the weeks before a shutdown.” But Republicans are already feeling the political costs of forcing a shutdown: Their business allies, who recognize the potential damage a shutdown could do, have broken ranks and urged Republicans to call off the shutdown.

Don't forget the Federal money to the States. It's projected that Michigan will lose $18,000,000 a day.

that kind of thing adds up.........quickly.

It was never really about the ACA.

[-] 1 points by WSmith (2698) from Cornelius, OR 10 years ago

It's been law and prefunded since 2009.

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 10 years ago

When did laws they didn't like matter to (R)epelican'ts?

The shutdown's main effect will be on exactly those laws they hate.

Here's the list of 48 again, in case you missed them in the rhetoric.

Thanks I posted that on "GOP to America..." yesterday.

This is their clarion call to their braindead base, they are gearing up for another 2010, which brought us all this GOP shit. Any chaos ~ GOP Shutdown, Debt Ceiling, Constitutional Crisis, etc... ~ they can cause will just be cover for looting, destruction and retrogression.

Notice all the False Flag naysayers and pooh-poohers coming out of the woodwork! "Voting won't help." "The Shutdown doesn't bother me."

Here it comes!

[-] -1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 10 years ago

No one here has questioned how much the Koch's have spent against the ACA.

http://www.politicususa.com/2013/10/02/its-amazing-people-obamacare.html

As if we'll ever really know.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2013/09/19/affordable-care-act-advertising-exchanges-health-care-president-obama-americans-for-prosperity-koch-brothers/2833979/

Well, perhaps when they go back to work, their staff will form a union and go on strike, they did, after all get tossed under the bus.

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2013/09/30/1242732/-GOP-staff-Our-bosses-threw-staff-under-the-bus#

If only they would spend as much money, time and effort, to get things to work, instead of the opposite, we would have a better World to live in.

Libe(R)topia, is such a painful place.

[-] 0 points by WSmith (2698) from Cornelius, OR 10 years ago

I did but it was way before OWS. It often seems that many on this board began political/apolitical involvement in Sept. 2011.

The whole one-sided (always against Dems ~ never against Cons ~ only against 1%/Big $ when it's against Dems ~ or both parties the same) bitch-fest here is VERY TELLING.

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 10 years ago

That kind of money can buy a hell of a marketing campaign.

As I recall, the GOP has already stripped the ACA of any marketing on how to use it.

Like they did with bush's 27 varieties of prescription plans for medicare.

They want to insure a maximum number of people don't make their optimal "choice".

It's more profitable, that way.

As to our particular "brand" of libe(R)tarian trolls?

Welp............their libe(R)tarian trolls.

What else would you expect?

[-] 1 points by WSmith (2698) from Cornelius, OR 10 years ago

According to reports ACA phone and web sites are working well despite GOP sabotage and public traffic: https://www.healthcare.gov/

Medicare Part D was a cruel and co$tly hoax on our needy elders.

They ~ the 1% & their GOP toadies ~ want Americans disgruntled, jealous, impoverished, divided and weak.

Differing opinions are one thing but outright lies and misinformation that could effect public opinion and government... wait, what am I saying, no one pays any attention to this board. You think someone is paying these "libe(R)tarian trolls"? They must literally have money to burn!

When will the GOP begin impeachment?

[-] -1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 10 years ago

GOP?

50% are functionally insane, and the rest are bought and paid for.

http://www.truth-out.org/opinion/item/19201-half-the-republicans-you-know-are-insane

[-] 0 points by IrishRevolt (5) 10 years ago

Being that one of their main platform beliefs is that lowering taxes and regulations for the multinationals will lead to a better life, I would put 100% at insane. And 100% bought out.

Buying out dumb, easily misled people is the way to go. Find some full grown adults that are desperate to get into the limelight, and exploit them to the fullest. The more gullible the better.

If they have an underlying disdain for the average guy/girl, thats a gold mine.

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 10 years ago

"an underlying disdain for the average guy/girl, thats a gold mine."

That would make you the miner, though I doubt you'd admit it.

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 10 years ago

"Yes Master."

Was that your idea of an insult?

Your complete lack of understanding of the information, "once again provided", shows your complete arrogance.

You want to talk about how the right wing lie machine has informed your thought processes?

Or do you want to talk about REAL events in Michigan, Wisconsin, or perhaps N. Carolina?

Or are you going to prove your arrogance, by continually makin' stuff up?

The "choices" are yours to make.

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 10 years ago

http://occupywallst.org/forum/understanding-flakesnews/

You need to understand that first.

Hmmmm, you never did comment on events in Michigan, Wisconsin, or N. Carolina.

[-] 0 points by IrishRevolt (5) 10 years ago

Correct.

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 10 years ago

When you're finished learning, I look forward to your informed comment on those on-going events, as well as your comments on the damage done by "outlets" like FLAKESnews. They are not alone.

Take your time to get it right.

[-] 0 points by IrishRevolt (5) 10 years ago

Yes Master.

[-] -1 points by WSmith (2698) from Cornelius, OR 10 years ago

With a horrid mix of belief over thought, authoritarianism, 24-365 Hate-Wing radio & Fox Lies, bigotry, racism and the pretzel logic of nonstop hypocrisy: How can a RepubliCon Cult who worship a greed-addled few in the 1% ~ who wouldn't piss on them if they were on fire ~ keep even a sliver of their followers in any form of sanity? Zombies!

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 10 years ago

Don't you know?

None of that's supposed to matter.

[-] 1 points by WSmith (2698) from Cornelius, OR 10 years ago

GOP insanity or zombies?

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 10 years ago

The massive onslaught of rightwing commentary.

There are those that believe it to be of no consequence.

That it somehow balances out the non-existent leftwing media.

they live in a dream world.

[-] 1 points by WSmith (2698) from Cornelius, OR 10 years ago

We have to support the many but scattered underground "LW"-Common Sense holdouts: Thom, Randi, Ring of Fire, Bill Press, Mike, Norman, Stephanie, Rachel and Ed. These voices of reason (& myriad associates) from outside this 1%-owned RW Media Asylum Monopoly, needs to get Main Stream access. They all have plans and sources to help. We should Unite!

[-] -2 points by MattLHolck (16833) from San Diego, CA 10 years ago

you don't suppose that money got public healt5h insurance out of the picture ?

next week if the shut down goes on

I suggest the government employees organize to demand a public health care option

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 10 years ago

Koch money tends to get what it wants, or else they will spend even more against what went against it.

There was no way, they were going to bite on the offered public health insurance option. They don't want actual competition.

I though we've been over that before?

Anyway

It would work too well, and be far too effective and responsive.

Hell, it might work as well as the USPS and they've been trying to kill that for a while now.

[-] 1 points by trashyharry (3084) from Waterville, NY 10 years ago

We shall be treated to many bizarre spectacles-no doubt.A reading of Tacitus gives a clue to what we can expect.I took to studying The Histories constantly when the Last Enormous Fart broke forth in the form of The Iraq War.Imagine a huge, hideous beast-flailing and flopping, blindly destroying both Friend and Foe-Capitalism-heaving and wheezing and breathing its last. The stench of the Carcass it leaves behind will even be dire and homicidal.

tax

stop war

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 10 years ago

Sure, but that's not what entitled drunks do.

Not at all unlike the trolls around here, they don't answer direct questions.

[-] -1 points by MattLHolck (16833) from San Diego, CA 10 years ago

the government shut down is just another circus side show

the dems know it The repubs know it

Money numbers are all but meaningless arbitrarily parceled out to the affluent

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 10 years ago

Side show????

That would depend on whether you are one of those that will be cut off.

http://thinkprogress.org/economy/2013/09/30/2701131/shutdown-wic/

Some thought the sequester was a side show too.

It wasn't.

[-] 1 points by MattLHolck (16833) from San Diego, CA 10 years ago

yes ofcourse some plebeians will having to suffer

we must take these money arbitrators seriously

a few deaths would improve ratings

.

sorry if I believe US currency has not consistency

I guess it started with my 20^ annual interest student loan

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 10 years ago

Then of course, you do understand that it's anything but a "side show".

http://thinkprogress.org/economy/2013/09/28/2696941/al-cardenas-default-shutdown/

I just read where one of the major airlines is hiring 1,500 pilots.

[-] 1 points by MattLHolck (16833) from San Diego, CA 10 years ago

we are discussing money when we should be providing healthcare for the public

we can't take money seriously since the supply is in control of private individuals

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 10 years ago

Actually, I'm describing drunks trying to run a country into the ground...... ........again.

Your comment about that being a "side show" is where it got off course.

Then again, if drunks are a side show, it makes you wonder why they hold the positions that they do.

[-] -2 points by MattLHolck (16833) from San Diego, CA 10 years ago

elections are rigged by that same arbitrary money

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 10 years ago

Explain how the election of Snyder in Michigan was somehow arbitrary.

Also please explain what that arbitrariness has to do with a bunch of drunken Congressmen threatening the Nation as a whole.

In complete sentences please.

[-] 0 points by MattLHolck (16833) from San Diego, CA 10 years ago

Snyder in Michigan

who?

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 10 years ago

Drunken teabagge(R)y has shut down the government for the good of the libe(R)tarians.

And some folks have wondered why I use the (R).

http://www.alternet.org/personal-health/obamacare-such-serious-threat-right-wing-project-theyve-shut-down-govt-try-stop-it

But of course, this won't be mentioned anywhere, but here, and even here, few understand what that really means.

Here's another short list of SOME of the damage it's going to do.

http://www.addictinginfo.org/2013/10/01/government-shutdown-affect/
