The thing I dislike about the case is all the stuff about racism. Everyone wants to use this for their personal agendas. I dislike the media's choice of photos and consider it slanted and meant to make Zimmerman look like a wetback who ran out and killed a little kid. Since when is a half Latino considered white in Florida? By that line Obama is full of crap claiming to be the first "black" president. Whites in Florida would be just as likely to make a little mistake and shoot Zimmerman! To me it looks like a tragic incident for sure but I'm not convinced racial profiling had as much to with it as is made out. Zimmerman himself would have been subjected to racism in his life and I'm not sold on him falling prey to "black phobia" and shooting someone just because they were wearing thug gear (as it cost quite a bit to pull off that look cause that crap costs top dollar and can't just be bought at Walmart and everyone knows it!).
IMHO- I dont think the racial profiling or even race is the key issue here. The key issue here is that the NRA & ALEC cloned the stand your ground laws into 22 states. These organizations are indirectly creating havoc in America on many levels. Although ALEC just lost Pepsi, Coke, Kraft - thay are too big to fail
And even if the lost 90% of their companies, koch can sneeze up the balance

that can propose virtually anything:
All public schools – privatized
All medicare/Medicaid/SocialSecurity – privatized
No cap gains tax

Guns for whoever wants one is okay with me. But traceable guns. You have to live with where the bullets fly. The whole part and parcel of Globalization and the role the Banks are playing on a global scale is a greedy power grab to seize all the worlds resources and own all governments. These are not people who care about people's standard of living or whether or not people starve. They are not not trying to build a better world convinced of their own intellectual superiority and kind benevolence toward their fellow man. They are not trying to reshape the world or create a better system for the people. They want to exploit them. They want 1000 times the power of a king and none of the responsibly to the people that should accompany it. And as long as they can take a bullet about as well anyone, I think guns are must. Laws against gun simply means law abiding people are dis-empowered while criminals who care not about the law will use whatever means necessary to acquire and use them on defenseless people. Drugs are here, guns will be here too. Its a matter of whose hands they are in.

What's interesting is that Zimmerman is also a minority: he's Mexican.
Regardless of the truth. It is good to see the police not arresting a possible innocent man. If the fact are not presented that requires him to be arrested then why arrest him. It has never been a problem for a Latin to be arrested. The problem comes when an innocent man get arrested and processed. He would have to post bond (arrest tax), hire an attorney (pre-court tax), and be considered guilty by the public. Then a Latin man in front of a jury is more likely to be found guilty.
look at the treatment and laws to stop Latin's from coming to America.
They even accused him of being white.god help him. You think the race card has been played think again. If he was white then riots would have broke out and Zimmerman would have been killed.
If Zimmerman was black, then we would not have know. It would not even make the newspapers.
Regardless we need to get back to OWS business. This is a smoke screen to keep the public blind to the abuses of OWS protesters.
My two wishes:
A televised public trial will decrease race tension and show that at least sometimes, our system can work FOR THE PEOPLE
Just like the recent months of OWS actions woke up America to the inequality in America, I hope this case will wake up America to ALEC.

what is your opinion of nbc editing zimmermans 911 call,.............. the 911 dispatcher asked zimmerman " is he black , white or hispanic"?, zimmerman ansered that he ( martin) looked black. when nbc played the taped , the dispacthers question about race had been edited out. when anything is edited, a tape or a film, it has to be listened to or watched over and over before its edited. when caught on this , nbc said they made a " mistake". it was no mistake. it was done on purpose. are to comment on nbc's race baiting?

when editng a tape , it has to listened to over and over. nbc chose to edit out the qustion of the 911 dispatcher making it seem that zimmerman voluntarily said ' he looks black" zimmerman was responding to the questions asked of the 911 dispathcer,.." is he black, white or hispanic". by editing out the 911 dispatchers question , it gave the impression that zimmerman brought up the race indentification, he didnt, the dispatcher did. what nbc did was set up zimmerman as a racist.

i am not talking about fox, i AM talking about nbc , which did in fact purposely edit out a direct question from the 911 dispatcher about martins race. zimmerman did not talk about race until he was asked about it.
I'm just talking about the fact that NBC is playing follow the tabloid leader.

The Trayvon Martin murder hillbilly-coverup is all about preserving the ALEC endorsed Stand Your Ground law.
The SYG law (bringing back the wild west) pits people against each other and creates chaos. Very important in an election year, especially one that RepubliCons look so bad in.

Funny, but I see and hear a lot of people blaming Trayvon. If the media was really in control, as you say, wouldn't public opinion be unanimous against Zimmerman? Guess they didn't fool you, huh?
Then there is the group seemingly the largest one, who says, "It seems like the cops rushed to judgement saying there wouldn't be charges and an arrest. There should be equal protection under the law. Hold him as a suspect until the investigation was complete, there was enough evidence to corroborate the shooter's story or not, or there is a bail hearing. Then, after a thorough investigation an indictment and a trial by jury. That is the way for justice to be done." They don't seem to have rushed to judgement.
And I suppose there are those, as you say, who, although I haven't seen them, who are trying to form a lynch mob rather than calling for a fair trial.

I heard Holder saying there would be a federal investigation separate and independent of the local one. What if the results are different? What does that show? Didn't sound like he had made up his mind on anything but starting an investigation. Did I miss that?

There are federal statutes that may have been violated. That is why there is a federal investigation. Hate crimes are examples of federal civil rights issues that local/state justice systems don't touch.
How can you know that it is ONLY a local case without an investigation?
Do you or I know what threatened acts, or acts taken, are being investigated? I don't. If you do, do you have a source? People have put out wanted dead or alive posters on doctors. Are they being investigated? I don't know, but I would hope all conspiracies to commit murder would be investigated.

Had they arrested him in the first place the attention to the case wouldn't have been what it was. It was, in fact, the attention to the facts that shamed them into doing the right thing. A fair trial will still be had by Zimmerman.

All of the above was unfortunate, but you can't deny the fact that without that attention nothing would have been done. Zimmerman would have walked free without a trial. He will get a fair trial now. They will bend over backwards to ensure that.

Look, the Sanford Police Department should have made the arrest much more quickly. When you bungle a case such as this these types of things are going to happen. Now these matters will have to be dealt with in a courtroom. They will, and must, ensure that Zimmerman gets a fair trial, otherwise, we'll have two wrongs and I don't think anybody wants that.
