Use existing Federal laws to create organizations that are tax-free (both Federal, State and Local) to further the Occupy Movement. Want to take back control of money, jobs, trade, commerce? Read what the IRS says and use it to our advantage.

DEFINING "CHURCH" - THE CONCEPT OF A CONGREGATION

"The term "church" is intended to be synonymous with the terms "denomination" or "sect" rather than to be used in the universal sense."

Example: [T]he word "church" implies that an otherwise qualified organization bring people together as the principle (sic) means of accomplishing its exempt purpose. The objects of such gatherings need not be conversion to a particular faith or segment of a faith nor the propagation of the views of a particular denomination or sect."

Im having a problem logging onto Facebook. Seems odd that Facebook was used as a crucial tool in the middle east to organize people to stand up for their rights and overthrow their dictators. Funny how now that protestors are gathering at Wall Street and around the world to demand Justice for plummitting the world economy into chaos that many people are having trouble logging on to facebook...this same senario happened in Iran when people starting organizing against their government. Seems to me that Facebook has been taken over by the.01% to prevent the 99% from organizing. The 99% must organize before Occupy Wall street becomes a faded memory... organize your groups around the world...elect leaders to stand together world wide. DO NOT GIVE IN!!!... DO NOT GIVE UP!! It is time to take our countries back from the greedy and corrupt. For those of you who still have access to Facebook it is your duty to spread the word.

The term church is not associated with religion. It is religion that confuses what a church is, according to U.S. law.

A church is nothing more than a group of like minded people coming together to accomplish a purpose.

The Occupy Movement is a nonprofit church by definition and their are great benefits to this type of organizational structure.

The common denominator being the 99%.

Why do churches feel they shouldn't be held responsible?

[-] 1 points by mutualminds (129) 13 years ago

Maybe we should just hold churches accountable for what they preach.
Using the word of God in vain should take them from their tax status.
What other reason is there for a church but to acknowledge the love of God? Michael,

Religion, God and Love are separate issues from Church. But it is good that you question all of the above and their purpose in your life. Be well and thrive.

I agree. Always question and remember who you are.

There are limits to charitable contributions... But are you saying OWS is not a non-profit? Now that would be really funny.

There is no law, rule or regulation on charitable contributions, monetarily or in-kind. You can donate every penny and possession to a nonprofit.
