Capitalists have exploited areas around the globe with low environmental regulations.
Capitalists care nothing about the planet.
It's pure greed that motivates capitalism.
it is the definition OF capitalism; private ownership, with no regulation will always accentuate the greedy tenancies in people. We can develop a system of social organisation that works the other way around, one that discourages greed and promotes community. it is a simple choice.
Perhaps it is time we abolish private ownership/enterprise. And place the life of the planet in environmentalists hands. Give the decisions to people who care.
We will always have personal property, however that is not the problem. The private (corporate) ownership of large tracts of land and/or natural resources is what leads the greedy to dominate the debate, and gives them the power over our political and social systems. They extract value and pay next to nothing for doing so, while profiting excessively, at the expense of the whole community.
We are all 'environmentalists' in that we are all living inside the environment, and can not exist at all without it. The "environment" is simply the many systems that sustain all life. There is no need to concentrate power in the hands of any group (environmentalists), as the vast majority of people are quite sane, reasonable, and eager to make the changes needed to turn the culture away from terrible destructive greed and toward positive growth of community. All we need to do is remove (or vastly limit) the influence of the greedy few.
It's time we stop letting money influence our choices.
I think you mean humans. Because countries with money that arent capitalist are doing the same thing. And people keep buying this shit, knowing damn well what is going on.
Plenty of blame to go around.
So because everyone else is doing it than it's okay if you do it ?
That's even worse than pleading guilty.
No its not ok, but its silly to blame capitalism.
