Has OWS given much thought to boycott? Seems if we could bring down just one odious corporation, literally take it out completely, then maybe the others will reform themselves without any need for government. If they don't we choose another target and keep taking them out till these fools wake up and help create the mixed economy we need and almost had in the mid 20th century. The implicit votes we make with our purchases could be leveraged to do far more than our political votes do. Caesar Chavez had pretty good results from his grape boycott and now we have the web to organize.

I have thought about this for a long time. To be successful, people would have to clearly distinguish between actual needs like food/clothing/shelter/etc. and wants like, well, everything else that's not a true necessity. How many people would really be willing to give up everything that is only truly a want, but that they actually believe they couldn't live without? You might be shocked by that number.

For greater insight into the challenges involved, watch "The Century of the Self", a documentary in four parts at the below link. It will tell you why you are up against a much bigger challenge regarding boycotts than you might believe.

But I like your spirit and the general idea of trying to hit the Corps in their Balance Sheets.
