Just get rid of it.

thanks for the honest - and wrong answer

[-] 0 points by Theeighthpieceuv8 (-32) from Seven Sisters, Wales 11 years ago

Derivatives are alive and well, thank you very much.

[-] 1 points by bensdad (8977) 11 years ago

"derivatives are alive and well" ? Dodd Frank was supposed to get rid of them?
Don't "derivatives" include ordinary stock options - puts and calls?

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

Stronger fin regs should prevent this slap on the wrist.

Keep it. And strengthen it. Bring back Glass Steagal

[-] 1 points by JackPulliam3rd (205) 11 years ago

do you have the guts to answer THIS question?

Do you like Chris Dodd ?

REMEMBER: Chris Dodd complained about the large AIG bonuses before it was revealed he not only wrote the laws giving them the large bonuses but that AIG the biggest contributer to his campaign. The same Chris Dodd was pushing SOPA on us as well

[-] 1 points by bensdad (8977) 11 years ago

Do I "like" Chris Dodd ?!?!?!? thoroughly irrelevant
I don't like pols, I like or dislike what they do

If you ask me do I like everything he did, my answer is no.

Do you vote for the party that repeals Dodd-Frank?
Or keeps Dodd Frank?

[-] 1 points by JackPulliam3rd (205) 11 years ago

if it works, sure, no problem. But Corzine, Chase, Barclays, etc... makes me think its just more bs to lull people into thinking they are protected

and btw, Chris Dodd sucks, but it's nice to see how understanding and forgiving you are of his flaws.

[-] 1 points by marvelpym (-184) 11 years ago

i'd keep it if it could stop crooks like former Democratic Governor John Corzine. Too bad it didn't do shit.

[-] 2 points by bensdad (8977) 11 years ago

And "crook" Corzine was convicted of which crime?
besides being a Democrat?
And what does that have to do with Dodd-Frank?

And unless you are doing a tally on both sides, what difference does party make? Nixon, Reagan, Bush, Clinton committed crimes that ranged from treason that caused 100,000+ deaths to lying about sex

[-] 2 points by JackPulliam3rd (205) 11 years ago

are you going to defend John Corzine?

[-] 1 points by ComeTogetherNOW (650) 11 years ago

why, rrrrrr, you............?

[-] 1 points by bensdad (8977) 11 years ago

why would I do that ? If i'm going to defend a crook,
I would defend the koch brothers -
they can afford to pay me

[-] 1 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

Come TOGETHER Now

[-] 1 points by bensdad (8977) 11 years ago

Dodd-Frank does not solve everything
Either you vote for the people who want to keep it
Or you vote for the deregulating crapitalists

[-] 1 points by JackPulliam3rd (205) 11 years ago

It doesn't matter if it's Dodd-Frank, Bush-Clinton or Opie-Anthony, they aren't going to work. Enron begat SOX. We're safe! Ooops. 2008 and Bernie Madoff. Dodd-Frank it is!. Now we're safe!. Uhoh, here comes (D) John Corzine. (repeat until infinite or bust)

the politicians will always be one step behind, closing the barn doors after the horses got out and that's because of the reason they are politicians: they can't do anything else to make a living. The smart and talented guys are out in the real world while the charmers are in Congress. Congress is just outgunned.

[-] 1 points by bensdad (8977) 11 years ago

congress is out-gunned because they are purchased by the 1%

[-] 1 points by JackPulliam3rd (205) 11 years ago

so why do you have faith in dodd-frank then?

[-] 1 points by bensdad (8977) 11 years ago

I have faith that until we stop the 1% from owning our government,
there is little we can do

[-] 1 points by JackPulliam3rd (205) 11 years ago

and who better to reel in the 1% than Chris Dodd, right? I'm sure he loaded Dodd-Frank with weapons. We can all sleep better.

OMG Bensdad! You are sooooooo right!

I AM 100% NOT VOTING FOR THE PARTY THAT WANTS TO REPEAL DODD-FRANK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND I HAVE THE GUTS TO SAY IT!

[-] 1 points by JackPulliam3rd (205) 11 years ago

and my dog isn't voting for them either!!!!!!!

[-] 1 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

Dodd Frank only punishes small banks and does nothing to hold bigger ones accountable....Go ask MF Global and PGF....

Stop settling for crumbs. You are being played.

[-] 1 points by ComeTogetherNOW (650) 11 years ago

So, if it's just crumbs why are the repubs foaming at mouth over this issue.

You know those do-nothing repubics who only know what their against. God help us if they did anything up there on the hill. No wonder this is this most hated and dysfunctional congress in our history. The Repubics have effectively shut down Washington as they hold the economy hostage. Wait for the next debt ceiling venture when they again put a gun to the head of our economy and demand a ransom to stop their madness. It's coming. Can you say Political Football?

[-] 1 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

Neither party has the balls to turn their backs on party promises and deals of the past.

[-] 0 points by salta (-1104) 11 years ago

repeal dodd-frank.

[-] 1 points by JesseHeffran (3903) 11 years ago

And replace it with what?

[-] -1 points by salta (-1104) 11 years ago

nothing.

[-] 1 points by JesseHeffran (3903) 11 years ago

you are such an ideologue. Why don't we also get rid of all the police? I mean if bankers can get a free run on society, why not let everyone have that liberty. no police officers. no regulators. no governmental supervision what so ever. Hmmm, what a thing to ponder.

[-] 0 points by salta (-1104) 11 years ago

dodd frank , another criminal enterprise to give help to dems.

[-] -1 points by betuadollar (-313) 11 years ago

Repeal.

[-] 1 points by bensdad (8977) 11 years ago

Why?

[-] 0 points by betuadollar (-313) 11 years ago

Because my wife and I live just outside the subsidized zone. Not only are we going to see increases to federal, state, and local taxes due to the medicaid expansion but we're also going to see increases to our employers for health insurance, that's if we retain it at all. We're looking at a minimum salary loss of at least 20%. What's worse, as an historical scholar, is that I know the bill violates our constitutional rights on at least five separate grounds, and for what, to provide illegals with health coverage? It's insane.

[-] 1 points by bensdad (8977) 11 years ago

What does any of that have to do with Dodd-Frank?
And we already provide illegals with health coverage in our emergency rooms
And the ACA has nothing to do with illegals.

[-] 0 points by betuadollar (-313) 11 years ago

Read it - the ACA provides illegals with healthcare unbounded by any "133%" income cap. And you're right, we do pay for illegals in increased healthcare and insurance costs; transferring that burden to an historically incompetent federal government does NOTHING to alleviate those costs.

Dodd-Frank - read it. We don't know what it has to do with health insurance but believe me the people who wrote the bill do or these clauses would not be in there, would they?

Hopelessly gullible - you are all so hopelessly gullible.

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

You are mistaken. None of what you claim will happen to you.

Get over it .the ACA is constitutional. The penalty is miniscule and if we can get more progressives in office we will implement a public option and put the criminal private insurance corps out of business for good.

Peace

[-] 0 points by betuadollar (-313) 11 years ago

It's already happening in NY. Our municipalities are beyond broke, with deficits in the hundreds of millions - they cannot afford the expansion or the increases to health insurance. As a result my personal nut has already gone up at least 10% of our total combined salary for the upcoming year. This in light of already higher taxes, higher gas and fuel prices, higher consumer products, food... the loss of market value, the loss of investments. Under Obama, and this rather sick brand of politics, it will only get worse.

The ACA is definitely NOT constitutional in any way, shape, or form. This is corrupt governance upheld by a politically corrupt court, and many Americans are tired of it.

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

I live in ny. ACA is hardly even in place. The medicaid expension comes with a 100% fed payment. What are yuo talkin about. Your blaming um implemented ACA on the high gas prices, and higher food costs.

You are clearly makin this up. Is it 'cause you are an anti Obama partisan?

[-] 0 points by betuadollar (-313) 11 years ago

Who do you think pays our Federal taxes? Who do you think pays the remaining 10% of that 90% Medicaid expansion? Who do you think pays for the healthcare of the elderly that Medicare does not cover? That's the problem here, you all see this money as falling from the sky; it does not. And you're only so far removed from reality because you do not pay taxes.

Obama has fully succeeded at pitting majority against minority; of a reduced pluralism... he's lumped illegals and our poor and pit them against the working class, the working class comfortable, and the lower middle class... and them against the wealthy.

He's pit us against the Congress as the Federal usurper of our rights. It's really sad.

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

I get it. You don't like Pres Obama. But your comments do not stand up to reality.

The medicaid expansion will begin in 2014! Ny will get more fed money (100%) than they do now (50%) to cover that cost. It will drop to 90% in 2018. Thats a long time. Lets get them to cover 100% for more years we got 1/2 a decade to protest and agitate for that.

Pres Obama hasn't created the Class War. We have been in a class war for all of human history. The difference now is that the 1% have crashed the world economy in 2008. The 1% plutocrats have rigged the political/financial system to redistribute the wealth of the 99% to the 1%.

So the 1% plutocrats don't want to pay for their crimes and they are squeeling about "class war"cause they are scared shit.

Now we just have to get enough of the 99% to recognize these realities and vote their interests. Don't advocate for the 1%. They have armies of lawyers, lobbyists and accountants to advocate for them.

You should vote your interests and those of your family.

Prosecute the bankster criminals, Take their money and use it to help the middle class minimize their cr card debt, student loans, and mtg.

Peace

[-] 0 points by betuadollar (-313) 11 years ago

It's not the 1% plutocrats - it's the failures of Congress because they have a duty to the prosperity of the people higher than that to the corporation.

Somebody is paying for Medicaid expansion... this money does not fall from the sky, although it should, in the form of import tariffs imposed and no more.

The Medicaid expansion has already begun and our county execs in NY are already crying poverty the result of this expansion; there is no room when deficits are already in the hundreds of millions.

You will NEVER have single payer; this is a country with medical costs that are two to three times the inflation rate; with a population of 300 million plus - this is NOT Canada or Germany. It cannot happen here (unless we take the money from the Rothschilds; good luck with that). People need to get a grip.

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

Take our money back from the 1% plutocrats who have stolen it over the last 30 years.

Drive private health insurance corps out of business. Lotta money there. Cut the costs of all health care, prescriptions,. that will do it.

Peace

[-] 0 points by betuadollar (-313) 11 years ago

haha ... well, good luck with that.

[-] -1 points by salta (-1104) 11 years ago

you're not insane, you see this criminal administration for what it is.
