Forum Post: Are occupiers ready to withstand the coming of the witch hunt?

Posted 12 years ago on Oct. 11, 2011, 5:01 p.m. EST by abmebratu (349) from Washington, DC
This content is user submitted and not an official statement

We know damn well the corporate media and its affiliates are just waiting for the opportune moment to unleash their full contempt and loathing on the Occupy movement.

Are we ready to withstand?

Where are we most weak?

What mechanisms can we utilize to guarantee the survival of the occupy movement in the aftermath of the inevitable corporate media backlash?

Guarantee the survival of the occupy movement by helping it to understand that the issues can only find the authority needed to address them through an Article V convention. Congress will not do it. Lawrence Lessig has a good video desribing why.---

Some choice resources about Article V,

the survival of the movement in the gurantee of germinating accurate and vaild concensus upon Article V of the constitution, then go after government like these observant posters define for various reasons.

Posting in those thread counters the infiltration of disruptive non productive influence with significant certainty.

See Rome this weekend as an example of what you don't want

[-] 2 points by abmebratu (349) from Washington, DC 12 years ago

Rome was caused by right wing extremists, who infiltrated the peaceful protests....These guys might have been sent by Burlosconi's corrupts spies.

[-] 1 points by thecenterpath (26) 12 years ago

You made my point... and you don't want it

WE ARE WEAK because there are too many hot heads and not enough sense

How can we turn anger into precision and concise thinking.

If our peaceful demands are not met, we will have to think of other options.

If we lost the right to assemble our government is illegitimate because it does not follow the constitution and is therefore an occupying power.

And right to assemble in a fenced in area(read: jail) provided by the government is not the right to assemble.

Of course, the rest of the bill of rights has already been revoked without consent of the people, so whose counting?

Either way it goes, there will be conflict. I would prefer that to the eternal squeeze into eternal debt at the hands of an illegitimate economic royalty.

If anyone gives into your demands, then our government is illegitimate. Long live the rights of the individual. Long live the Republic.

all of that can be made irrelevant by a good wiki and 1001 sub forums.

which is why its particularly troubling we still don't have either, proving that the adminship around here is about cotntrolling the message not helping an evolutionary process.

as soon as somebody puts up a good wiki and a long list of sub forums, hopefully we can move out of this place.

OR MAYBE they will finally get their act together- but somehow.. i don;'t think so- i think the promise of more sub forums was just to string me along.

In any case. I have the solutions to that- organization... it would behoove us all to get attention back to that because without it, the movement is going to be in over its head and up shit creek without a paddle.

You better hope it happens. If they go back to ignoring us, we're screwed.

The ideologically opposed media will jump on it of course, but only because their viewers will consume the product. Any media format that sells to a sympathetic base will carry a much different tune. MSNBC for example will and has vocalized support in many ways. Fox, has done the opposite.

This charge that "the corporate mainstream media" will do this or that as an intentional collective sort of underrates the nuanced dynamics of the media machine. Its not a cabal of conspiratorial social orchestrators, but more a gaggle of money hungry infotainment outlets that sells specific messages to willing and ready audiences. Its business. Not remotely virtuous nor specifically intent on being malicious...unless its profitable.

Now...the ownership of said outlets, in terms of cabals...well, thats another discussion entirely.

Your enemy is amoral, you enemy is ruthless, your enemy has every resource at its disposal. What you are doing may cost you or someone else their life. Your enemy plays very dirty and does not like opposition. Are you really ready?

[-] 1 points by abmebratu (349) from Washington, DC 12 years ago

This is the question we are faced with??? Ruling elites in the country are determined and working day and night to undermined the gains of working people.....The Class warfare waged from the echelons of corporate power has been raging for several decades. The poor have felt the lashing of its flames over and over again. What is it about this time around that makes it different????Are we ready to look the beast in the eye and tell it to take a hike?

[-] 1 points by ohnezu (47) from Orlando, FL 12 years ago

31 days of non-violence and counting.

Most revolutions start that way.
