Forum Post: A Political Alternative in a Status Quo World

Another participant here on the OWS forums turned me onto rocky Anderson and his new Justice Party. Personally, I looked sideways at this at first because I had known of Anderson as a Democrat and I really dislike the Democrats almost as much as I dislike the Republicans. But Rocky Anderson, it seems, has had that same epiphany and took the action of not just leaving the Democrats but also creating a new political party based on the kind of social justice, civil liberties and human rights, Constitution based values that I seek out in candidates.

I don't tell others how to think politically but I recommend folks look at Rocky Anderson and his Justice Party. They may well be the viable alternative to the Democrats that this nation has needed for a long time.

If someone starts a party I like, I'll vote with that party.

I quit the Democratic Party and became an Independent in 1996 so it is not easy for me to look at anyone within any party structure. Anderson and his Justice Party reflect many of my social justice values so I look at them with a less jaundiced eye than I do any of the other political whore houses/parties.

Anderson's opposition to the War on Drugs, and for all of the right reasons, is especially important to me. I have opposed the Drug War since the day Richard Nixon declared it in 1971 so having someone who understands it and opposes it is a unique opportunity for real change.

The Justice Party is holding a convention on July 4th in Philadelphia and I just may go.

Thanks for the contribution to the thread.

Anderson comes off like a very well reasoned, informed and articulate social justice advocate. Something that Barack Obama pretended to be in 2008 but has since proven to be anything but. Anderson at least has an established record for the values that he represents.

they have no platform for social justice not much of a justice party if you ask me it is all economic justice and leaning libertarian.

Blah, blah, blah....

so i guess he wants to keep building prisons and filling them that is not a justice party i can support. that he wants to continue the status quo of illegal immigration that represses u.s. citizen wages and benefits that is not a justice party i can support. that he wants people to be wage slaves still that is not a justice party i can support. i cannot stand people acting like a little legislation and a new president will change a thing the oligarchy is still in place and until they are summarily decapitated by guillotine in the public square they will never give up their strangle hold on power plus isn't this guy a mormon cult follower?

Rather than make blind assumptions based on no information at all why the fuck don't you go to the links and research the guy for yourself. Are you such an infantile child that you need to have information spoon fed to you?

I provided links for anyone who wants to think for themselves. Try it.

your name should be asshat. because they advocate for all kinds of justice except social.

[-] 1 points by aahpat (1407) 12 years ago

You offer no reason for me to attempt reasoned adult discourse with you.

[-] -1 points by blackbloc (-19) 12 years ago

i went to the links i checked him out weeks ago they still don't have much of a platform i thought since you were endorsing this tool you might know more about his platform the website says nothing on social issues just economic.

[-] 1 points by aahpat (1407) 12 years ago

Well then you don't read well.

For one thing he is highly regarded by the Drug Policy Alliance.

For another he is considered a leader in lesbian and gay legal rights advocacy.

His anti poverty and racial equality work legal has won him national awards.

I found these things by exploring the links on his site. Its all there is you open both your eyes and you mind.

so where on the site does it give his social justice platform i don't see it and i am looking at it right now under the proposed founding objectives there is nothing there dealing with social policy am i missing something???? and being as salt lake city and utah is about as white and middle class stable as can be his anti poverty and racial equality shit mean nothing to me. he didn't have to really deal with these issues there. yes i like his policies on most of what i have seen but where are the social policies. i think i would rather support the green party they have not released their platform for 2012 yet but here is 2010's http://www.gp.org/committees/platform/2010/index.php i think if ows looked into the green party they would see more of what they like.

I tried talking but you devolved quickly into personal attacks and insults.

Learn to read for comprehension and all will be revealed.

Until then, go fuck yourself.

um i read very well thank you most likely at a level higher than you but i am still not seeing anything on social justice or even a real platform. this is a platform http://www.gp.org/committees/platform/2010/index.php are you mad because i shot down your dream candidate already?
