"The ideological division that now runs under the Republican party is making itself known with tremors around climate change, and specifically the issue of household solar installation. On one side, energy self-sufficiency, whether for a family or for the nation, is a libertarian’s dream: no more monthly dependence on a non-competitive utility company, no more dependence on foreign oil, with its attendant national security threats.

On the other side, in the spirit of protecting venerable utility and fossil fuel corporations against the threat of green tech, ALEC is drafting model legislation and mobilizing members to attack renewable energy policies, which include renewable portfolio standards (RPS) and more recently, net-metering."

100+ years of electricity and they still hang the wires on toothpicks under the trees.

It's vulnerable to everything.

I don't know that I would call them toothpicks really . . . I mean, this wasn't a toothpick but it really didn't matter much.

I lived through that ice storm and you could hear trees, whole trees, snapping under the weight of ice.

For three whole days you could hear them. Canada had it worse than Burlington did, but it was ugly none the less.

That was an exceptional storm though. They fall down every time the wind blows around here.

I see . . . so that's what it is to live in libertopia . . . the infrastructure just disintegrates and there is no public service board to hold any one accountable.

that sucks

[-] 1 points by shooz (18035) 4 months ago

Well of course. They want the public to fix the grid. You didn't think a libe(R)topian would take such a thing out of their profits?

I mean they've only made a few trillion over the years.

[-] 1 points by ZenDog (13714) from South Burlington, VT 4 months ago

right right what was I thinking . . . the term public interest is a thing both unknown and detestable . . .

now how one can not know and yet detest something is something we will have to ask libertopians . . . .

[-] -1 points by shooz (18035) 4 months ago

You can ask them, but I doubt they'll answer. They never really do.

[-] 0 points by ZenDog (13714) from South Burlington, VT 4 months ago

oo that gives me an idea . . .

we can spank them

spank them and spank them - then we can explain how the spanking will continue until we get the truth

what truth of course we just won't specify. And no matter what particular truth they choose to provide, it just won't do

and we will SPANK them!

(Monty Python moment, kids leave the room)

[-] -3 points by shooz (18035) 4 months ago

Better get started then, there's still a bunch of them running around this place. DK has pretty much given up on them and GF has given up.

just watch as they ignore, or minimize, the actions of the Koch's and other libe(R)tarians.

[-] -2 points by ZenDog (13714) from South Burlington, VT 4 months ago

flip and jgriff getting the best of honest folk, eh? that's too bad.

[-] -1 points by shooz (18035) 4 months ago

You didn't think they would stop politicizing everything they could did you?

Did you like how they all of a sudden they started posting stuff on global warming that we were talking about months ago.

They ignored it then, now they pay lip service. I wonder who they'll place the blame on?

You can be damned sure it won't be the Kochs, or ALEC for that matter.

[-] -1 points by ZenDog (13714) from South Burlington, VT 4 months ago

On the plus side, it would appear they've given up on us as well . . .

[-] -1 points by shooz (18035) 4 months ago

That won't last. Their bots remain at the ready.

Answer IS! Coal is NOT clean. It is a terrorist. Oil is destroying the entire globe. IT is a terrorist. The people that promote it are terrorists. Terrorizing terrorists creating terrible terror are winning. It's just impossible to know who or what the terror that's terrorizing and terrible. Did you just have a dirty thought? You terrorist!

[-] 0 points by shooz (18035) 4 months ago

What was the question?

[-] 1 points by nazihunter (315) 4 months ago

The question is Libber, Pug, or Dino. Do you really think that there is the will within the political realm to stop big oil? We have 2 pipelines being built right now that will rip through the heart of this country. They will completely destroy the natural environment all around them and ad to a climate change that is already quite evident and dramatic. All that from the a technology that quite outdated. When you want to stop something, you have to go to the source. History has been completely on their side. That means votes don't work, therefore, they don't matter.

"Do you really think that there is the will within the political realm to stop big oil?"

I don't think the general public has the will yet either.

Most see driving as inevitable, as does the "developing" countries of the World, where driving is still expanding.

Mass transportation is only one part of solving the puzzle. Safe high MPG personal vehicles are a part too. As well higher MPG vehicles to distribute goods. This includes cross oceanic shipping, whether by sea or air.

The technology to do these things is available, yet there is still no will to build things in this way.

I mean really, look the reactions I get around here for showing the activism of the Kochs.

The will is just not there.

I agree. It also didn't look hopeful that pipeline protests in DC were met with force. But not much a lot of force. Protests right outside the corporate buildings would be better. They run this country, not DC. However, you'll be met with more force. What does that say? Forget the puppets, go after the puppet masters. Anyway, who cares we think? I for one detest the Kochs and their meddling. What products do they provide to us and what markets do they support? You need to do a post on that and keep posting it. I'll post it on my website. I hate those bastards so much, I'd pay for alternatives to their shit products.

[-] 0 points by shooz (18035) 4 months ago

I'm not going to stop posting on their highly activist behaviors.

Here's a partial list.

This doesn't include other products, that things they manufacture are also used in.

To be honest, I've always wondered who provides the cellulose that is used today in many processed food stuff, like taco shells.

Run off from their paper mills?

[-] 0 points by nazihunter (315) 3 months ago

Thanks for the link. Let's not just bury their products, let's boycott all the bastards and bitches that suck up to them.
