We already knew this was a PR stunt. But in an recent interview, the Republican state legislator who chaired the disbanded committee confirms it:

Republican State Rep. Jerry Madden of Texas chairs the Public Safety Task Force and although he is disappointed the committee is disbanding, he said many of the issues will be transferred to other committees.

"ALEC's decision won't impact the important issues we've worked on," Madden told The Christian Post. "But I will say this, these groups are targeting ALEC because when conservatives get together, we influence state and federal policy in a major way and these groups are scared of us – and should be." read more here

Subterfuge at ALEC?

Who would have thought?

They are at least as full of shit as the corporations they represent.

Yep. Agreed.

Alec was just foolin'.

Just a little PR joke for the masses. Cause most folk learned about ALEC from "that little ol' shootin'", down in Florida, and those that were following likely read the PR about them gettin' out of that part of the biz, but few will read that their really not.

Yes, but we should trust them on the XL pipeline,as they are as innocent as babes about that....................:)

It's only everything else they lie about.

Of course. This is what it is all about. Trust.

Alec will even argue with the air force.

We don't need no clean energy, as long as the Kochs are still selling snake "oil"!

Gosh, ALEC is such a "charitable" entity.

So focused on improving the Planet and the human condition.

A regular Mother Teresa, for the corporations.

No wonder so many are willing to give generously to protect their interests from encroachment by and for us little people.

They are, too.

[-] 2 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

Of course they are. It's tax deductible, and the ROI is so much better than giving to an actual charity.
