New Propaganda Film, ‘Act of Valor’ to Convince Public that American Empire is Good

I was browsing YouTube the other day and stumbled upon the trailer for a new movie called ‘Act of Valor’ which is nothing short of a propaganda film released at just the right moment so as to convince the public that a new war with Iran is acceptable.

From what I can see in the trailer [below], the film tries to cast a favorable light on entangling alliances and foreign interventionism abroad. It portrays the American empire as a wholesome, global ‘police force’ tasked with the duty of protecting ‘human rights’ around the world.

Sure, there are lots of decent military men and women who sign up because they feel a sense of compassion and want to help ‘free’ those enslaved by foreign dictators abroad- but one or two years in to combat and that mindset quickly changes as its realized that they were tricked by a dirty propaganda machine back home. Films like Act of Valor are all part of the con-game.

Just shortly before WW2, Adolf Hitler released, ‘Triumph of the Will’, a propaganda movie which glorified the aggressive totalitarian state that was the Third Reich. Act of Valor is sort of a new ‘Triumph’ in that its all about twisting public perception to make empire seem ‘cool’, ‘beautiful’, or worth fighting for.

The crimes of the military industrial complex are well documented. War is hell. Many innocent men, women, and children get killed due to the effects that such films like Act of Valor have upon gullible recruits in to the American armed forces. Just look at the recent trial of a U.S. marine who slaughtered 24 innocents in Iraq - including wheel chair bound seniors - and gets no jail time whatsoever for his crimes.

The troops just want to come home. Act of Valor and other such productions try so very hard to reverse the growing dissent over an expansive, military state but ultimately the people have awoken - and war, empire, and totalitarianism are no longer being justified no matter how convincing the propaganda may seem.
