A People's Society ~~ Direct Democracy, 'Of The People, By The People, For The People.'

I've been meaning to put together a 'go to' forum post that includes all the important forum links and discussions about Direct Democracy. There are so many amazing posts on this forum from articulate and knowledgeable posters...especially from early on. Wonderful debates and collaborations.

It is my opinion that most of the people who came to this forum early on, understood that Direct Democracy was the obvious direction that a society who was sick to death of the greedy and insanely corrupt government and ruling oligarchs, needed to turn to. Much of that commensal discussion was thwarted and never picked up by the bigger movement/revolution...and almost all of those early Direct Democracy speakers are gone. I wonder why that happened. "Hmmmm...." she ruminates, as she furrows her brow and taps her chin with a contemplative finger. ;-)

Below, I've listed many informative links and forum posts on Direct Democracy. These links are loaded with other great links within them. Sorry that it's a bit of a rough draft. I wanted to talk more about Direct Democracy here, but our days here are numbered, unfortunately, and I wanted to get the post on the forum quickly before the lights go out, so that people who check in here after the forum is closed have the info readily available to them.

I'll keep adding more links within this post as I find them, until the forum shuts down.

There's so much more information available on Direct Democracy on the web! Please feel free to add as many links, posts, videos, etc., as you wish.

Edit within the above main forum post for further sharing of information on Direct Participatory Democracy.

Why did the three comments in this thread get 'removed'? There was nothing contentious in them. They were articulate and on point with the subject of Participatory democracy.

Is the moderator here incapable of being unbiased?

At least one of the three comments, included a video about ''Direct Democracy'' and as I'd bookmarked it, here it is again, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GnR5hiAZgKM

It's been quite a while since I was last here and things seem to have gone south a little in my absence but nevertheless, we stumble on and thanks for this great post btw.

Renneye, this is such a great post !! and will likely become a great discussion ...

so I want to also add another leading goal that has been gaining ground ...

Social Wealth ....

[-] 4 points by Renneye (3874) 9 years ago

In their heart of hearts, most people want 'social wealth' for their children. It is an innate human quality. But in recent decades they've been misled into thinking that money is the single-most important thing they need to be able to provide that for their families, and they invariably get sucked into the merry-go-round of the banksters' debt-slavery wheel. Eventually nauseous, they want to get off the merry-go-round, but don't know how to make it stop.

Nice racket the .01% have going, isn't it? :-/

Social wealth and direct democracy go wonderfully together. A perfect union...and, in my opinion, social wealth will evolve very naturally from a Participatory Direct Democracy. People won't vote against themselves, in the sense that folks won't vote for things that will kill them, like practices that will kill off the planet, or, things that will make us unhealthy...the way that greedy corporations and governments do now.

Educating the populace on the particulars of both Participatory Direct Democracy and Social Wealth will expedite the whole evolutionary transition to a happier, dignified, more empathic love-based world for all.

There are groups doing this already, thankfully, because every bit helps.

Awesome video!

Pure and concise language. Very well made, indeed. A great primer for those first visiting and curious about Direct Democracy, and a wonderful addition to this thread.

Many more folks have now passed that indoctrination obstacle of thinking that Direct Democracy is some utopian ideal, and is instead, likely an inevitable reality.

No longer can Direct Democracy be ridiculed as pie-in-the-sky. The proof is in the fact that PDD is already being seriously experimented with and successfully used in various pockets of the global populace with very good results. Many, many people want to directly take part in the decision process that affects their own lives. I know I do.

Thanks kindly, for posting that informative video!
