This is an extensive video on the topic of the US National Bank and how it was used for real economic development in the United States, rather than the kind of speculation that you find on Wall Street today:

Yes, I know, its from Lyndon Larouche's website, so if you don't like him, don't go. If you're not brainwashed by the same propaganda that's destroyed our country, then check it out.

Its important to know what we should be fighting for, as well as what we are against. A national bank is financing that works for the 99% by creating millions of well paying, constructive jobs.

I believe we've spoken several times about LaRouche's personal issues and why I am not a LaRouche fan. That said, most of my issues with LaRouche do not extend to a lot of his ideas, and I'm rather fond of the national bank idea. The idea has been working for North Dakota quite well for over ninety years (and they're typically a Republican state to boot; there was a whole other thread focusing on the irony of that fact earlier) and I'd like to see them try it on a national scale. It gives us all the advantages that come with central banking without any of the problems that may or may not come from the Federal Reserve system.

That's right. Please watch the video if you have time, it about an hour long. Its part of a series that proposes comprehensive solutions to the problems of today.
