How could existing assault weapons be surrndered? How would we know?
We add 4 million more guns to mix every year, we could stop doing that. When Columbine happened there were 100 million guns now there are 300 million and almost as many gun dealers as gas stations in the country, we could slow things down or just sit around and do nothing and in twenty years we will have a billion guns in private hands and this sort of thing will happen every month or so.
Here's a thought how about a 10 thousand dollar fee for a dealers license fee?

Thanks for sharing this petition. It's great to see how far it's already gone! I don't mean to be redundant but I have also put up a petition specifically calling for reinstating the Federal Assault Weapons Ban. People have been trying to reinstate it since 2004 to no avail. Now is the time. This may be the most achievable goal for gun control right now. If you agree, please sign and pass this on.
