Forum Post: A Bit of Perspective

Perception: “...all men are created equal.” is a foundation for social justice.

Truth: NYC Mayor Micheal Bloomberg is currently estimated to be worth over 20 billion dollars.

Let's say the average family makes fifty thousand dollars a year. (The actual number is a bit over $46,000.00 per year.) So every two families makes a hundred grand. Twenty families together make a million dollars per year in income. Twenty thousand families make a billion in income. So, our twenty-thousand wage earning family units would have to work for 20 years to generate what Mayor Micheal Bloomberg already has.

Mayor Micheal Bloomberg has the economic and political American Dream. He is a fully emancipated citizen of our world. All that is necessary to be his equal in political and economic influence is to do the work of twenty thousand families for twenty years.

Might be faster to pick up beer cans outside AA meetings to sell for lottery ticket money...

The population of the United States is approximately 300 million people. That is almost 4,300 groups of twenty thousand families. Each producing a billion dollars of income per year. That is a collective 4.3 trillion dollars of income per year.

The national debt is just over 15 trillion dollars. Every worker in the USA needs to work for 3 and a half years putting every penny toward paying the debt before we can each start doing the work of twenty-thousand families and claim equality with Mayor Micheal Bloomberg... in twenty years.

Do you know who “We the People” owe that debt to?

Mayor Micheal Bloomberg, and others of his class. Who wants to be like Mike?

How did Mayor Micheal Bloomberg come to have such huge amounts of money that he and a small group of cronies could support the aspirations of an entire nation? Here's an example of how it works: 'Individuals' like McDonald Douglas and Lockheed Martin convinced us that we need lots of weapons to defend ourselves with. Once we were convinced that five hundred bombs were needed for each villager that could produce a frown, the mayor's cronies were good enough to loan us the money to buy all that smart, stealthy, bangy stuff.

It is lucky these companies were there to provide this service because there seem to be a lot of wars thousands of miles away that we need to defend ourselves in. Oddly enough, many of these places seem to have lots of oil and Muslims. I guess that the oil is what we are defending and the Muslims are what we are defending it from... I'm not sure why, but I suppose that's why we need Presidents. To explain this kind of thing to us.

So, you see, His Honor Mayor Michael Bloomberg is kind of like a RentACenter for despots.

“Sure, Mr. President, you can blow up Muslims now and pay later. We aim to please just as long as everyone pays on time. We'll take your money and invest in oil!”

That's the 15 trillion we owe them. The ticks are wagging the dog.

Money doesn't grow on trees; it grows from people. It is the only true cash crop. Folks that harvest this crop see our communities the way a farmer sees his dairy herd. Send us your poor and unwashed indeed...

We are a constituency of the poor sneered at as unwashed by those who price soap beyond our means, laughed at as ignorant by those who close our schools, reviled as a social blight by those who dump oil in our oceans and kill children in vicious wars over natural resources. We are serving out our lives as little money generating family units; cultivated and kept occupied by environmental enrichment strategies like Monday Night Football and covertly managed racial conflicts. Then we are periodically harvested for interest and fees.

I wonder if there is such a thing as a free range human...?

The blood is draining from our democracy – our blood. 'We The People' have been disenfranchised by compound interest and left with an impossible economic gap to bridge. All the property is owned, hotels and houses loom all around us. Mayor Michael Bloomberg is having fun. Everyone else just hopes they land on Chance or Community Chest. The big difference is, that when things get out of hand in Monopoly you can just stop playing. In our world, you are forced to play on while the guy in the top hat with a fat cigar whoops it up.`

Actually, I think Bloomberg made his wealth by starting a news/financial services media company. I could be be wrong but I don't think he ever worked in the defense industry. His grandparents, I think, were Russian immigrants. His father was a realtor.

Rapacious financial capitalism has nothing to do with blood, sweat and tears.

You certainly have a twisted view of “...all men are created equal.” It doesn't mean that all men will be equal throughout their life. It means exactly what it says, "created" equal.
