The only thing that makes a police officer different from any of us is his badge and his gun. His badge is a representation of authority, authority that is granted by the people for laws made for the people and his gun is what allows him to enforce those laws. So what is the modern day police man? Our system favors the criminal i could be attacked on the street tomarrow by a bunch of thugs and if i defend myself with a weapon ill be in trouble, ill be arrested and ill have to pay that thugs medical bills. It doesnt matter that they attacked me it matters that i didnt rely on someone else to handle them, someone else with a badge and a gun. The way i see it the modern day police man is not upholding laws just for the people anymore he has become decadent and irresponsible. He abuses his power, he's a simple bully, a mercenary and he is nothing. So why do we allow him to arrest us? we are amassed just as they are i say the next time a policeman raises a baton to you that you smash him in his face if he is not protecting the people who pay his wages he's a simple bully and should be treated as such. The modern day American is afraid we have been made to rely on an authority to solve our problems for us this has been done through propaganda and fear. We have been taught to be afraid, afraid of creeds, afraid of races, afraid of failure and as a wise jedi once said fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate and hate leads to suffering. And if things dont change theres going to be alot of anger and hatred.

The authority of the police comes from the majority. If you believe the majority are no longer being served then organize them and elect officials to make the necessary changes.

your completely correct but so is he in a way. Police are there to serve and protect the innocent from the guilty. But we as citizens should determine our public employees. If they are not a good they should be voted out

I agree, but the police only enforce the law. Protect and serve makes a nice slogan, but it isn't exactly what they do. It falls to the electorate to pressure for the laws we need and want.

Using azazel's example from above, if he defends himself from thugs using a weapon his city has deemed illegal to carry then he is committing a crime and has to work for the repeal of that law or face the consequences of breaking it. It isn't the fault of the police. The fault and responsibility for the laws lies with us.

completely correct i think the laws have made both the police and the public do actions that we do not want to do

Agreed. I want the ability to elect (and recall) police officers, among other reforms.
