If you live in the United States of America, you live in a giant prison where liberty and freedom are slowly being strangled to death. In this country, the control freaks that run things are obsessed with watching, tracking, monitoring and recording virtually everything that we do. Nothing is private anymore. Everything that you do on the Internet is being monitored. All of your phone calls are being monitored. In fact, if law enforcement authorities suspect that you have done something wrong, they will use your cell phone microphone to listen to you even when you think your cell phone is turned off. In many areas of the country, when you get into your car automated license plate readers track you wherever you go, and in many major cities when you are walking on the streets a vast network of security cameras and "smart street lights" are constantly watching you and listening to whatever you say. The TSA is setting up "internal checkpoints" all over the nation, Homeland Security is encouraging all of us to report any "suspicious activity" that our neighbors are involved in and the federal government is rapidly developing "pre-crime" technology that will flag us as "potential terrorists" if we display any signs of nervousness. If you are flagged as a "potential terrorist", the U.S. military can arrest you and detain you for the rest of your life without ever having to charge you with anything. Yes, the United States of America is rapidly being turned into a "Big Brother" prison grid, and most Americans are happily going along with it.

My father once told me: "Son, if there are ever cameras everywhere, you are living in a police state" And there are cameras EVERYWHERE. It's only a matter of time until people start shooting marbles from wrist rockets into the cameras and breaking them. People will soon wear the Guy Fawkes mask, and take those cameras out, in suburbia and in the cities. I don't even have to start this action. It will happen eventually... all by itself.

This is why every family MAN should own a firearm, and join a militia.

This is why Occupy should put up its own communications satellites.

Why most Americans are happy with it, is beyond me. I am not like that at all.

[-] 1 points by ronimacarroni (1089) 12 years ago

Our own communications satellite?

That would be so awesome.

[-] 1 points by ronimacarroni (1089) 12 years ago

Still its kind of unnecessary.

If you're worried about privacy you only need to encrypt your messages.

Look up Tor and truecrypt.

being able to be tracked by the gov is no different than what we do voluntarily every day on Facebook. We freely hand out our personal info, data and stats. You really want to not be known where you are or what you're doing? Don't post status updates or check-ins. Facebook and google do much more information collecting on individuals. The gov only does people they suspect. FB and Google collect everything on EVERYBODY.

I read that article again. It's absolutely scary and our freedoms are being taking away daily. There is no denying this. Thanks for sharing.

I mean the one you posted.

Here is a commentary that I came across that pretty much says it as it is.

The title of it is "The Fat Police". http://www.wpix.com/wpix-lionel-on-pix-gallery,0,5078472.story

Spread the knowledge. Make any difference you can. And don't let this message scare you. The thought of this is unbelievably disgusting and it needs to be resisted. Spreading the truth is crucial to creating the world we want to see. We need to wake up as many people as we can to get real change. Those that don't want to wake up can stay asleep. Keep spreading the word. Here's a start..

I believe this was Steve Jobs' ultimate message. Apple was just the vehicle to get his ideas and messages out. He wanted people to use computers/technology to free themselves as he knew this was coming.

I saw this one....we are so lied to....by our govt.

[-] 1 points by ContinuationofEarth (220) 12 years ago

It is not our government. It is a group of people who hijacked our government and used it against us! Class wars have been going on for thousands of years to keep people and their dreams down.

"thank george bush and his patriot act, the drug war and war on terror"

And thank Barrack Obama for renewing the Patriot Act even though he said he would repeal it. You can also thank him for extending the bogus wars on drugs and terror...

perpetuating the war on drugs as our first black president considering how it has particularly effected the black communities makes him an out and out uncle Tom.....it would be like sitting bull being president while the trail of tears was happening, fuckin coon.

well if you are going to talk in a public forum, the internet and all of its pages, then isn't that like being in a public space yelling at the top of your lungs. i don't mind them monitoring, i just don't want them in possession of a kill switch. or laws that give them unintended capabilities.

[-] 1 points by mserfas (652) from Ashland, PA 12 years ago

That was indeed an excellent essay - more so when you consider that the author does little to conceal what sounds like a far-right religious fundamentalist perspective, yet nearly every point is something that the most liberal OWS supporter should wholeheartedly agree with.

What amazes me more is that, even considering all the oppressive surveillance described there, it surely is dwarfed by what many consumers, especially among the wealthy, seem willing to purchase. Cars rigged with microphones that are in constant contact with unseen enforcers, "home security systems" that allow people over the internet to tap into cameras inside the house. With an ever-growing gap between rich and poor, the posh life of the "1%" seems destined to become ever more dependent on such things to defend them from real and imagined enemies ... despite all that wealth, which could do so much to improve the lives of poorer people, those who possess it will still be miserable and afraid.

Synopsis

Orwell's final novel, 1984, is the story of one man's struggle against the ubiquitous, menacing state power (“Big Brother”) that tries to dictate nearly every aspect of human life. The novel is a classic in anti-utopian fiction, and a trenchant political satire that remains as relevant today as when it was first published. Annotation

Examines different aspects of Orwell's anti-utopian classic, with a biographical sketch of the author and critical essays on this work. Books of the Century; New York Times review, June 1949 - Mark Schorer

It is probable that no other work of this generation has made us desire freedom more earnestly or loathe tyranny with such fullness. 1984, the most contemporary novel of the year and who knows of now many past and to come, is a great examination into and dramatization of Lord Acton's famous apothegm, " power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrups absolutely. 100 A staggering 48.5% of all Americans live in a household that receives some form of government benefits. Back in 1983, that number was below 30 percent.

99 During the Obama administration, the U.S. government has accumulated more debt than it did from the time that George Washington took office to the time that Bill Clinton took office.

98 Since Barack Obama was sworn in, the share of the national debt per household has increased by $35,835.

97 The U.S. national debt has been increasing by an average of more than 4 billion dollars per day since the beginning of the Obama administration.

96 It is being projected that the U.S. national debt will hit 344% of GDP by the year 2050 if we continue on our current course.

95 The Congressional Budget Office is projecting that U.S. government debt held by the public will reach a staggering 716 percent of GDP by the year 2080.

94 In 2010, the U.S. government paid $413 billion in interest on the national debt. That is projected to at least double over the next decade.

93 According to one new survey, one out of every three Americans would not be able to make a mortgage or rent payment next month if they suddenly lost their current job.

92 State and local government debt has reached an all-time high of 22 percent of U.S. GDP.

91 In 1980, government transfer payments accounted for just 11.7% of all income. Today, government transfer payments account for 18.4% of all income.

90 U.S. households are now receiving more income from the U.S. government than they are paying to the government in taxes.

89 According to a new study conducted by the BlackRock Investment Institute, the ratio of household debt to personal income in the United States is now 154 percent.

88 If you can believe it, one out of every seven Americans has at least 10 credit cards.

87 According to the Bureau of Economic Analysis, health care costs accounted for just 9.5% of all personal consumption back in 1980. Today they account for approximately 16.3%.

86 The cost of a health insurance policy for the average American family rose by a whopping 9 percent last year, and according to a report put out by the Kaiser Family Foundation and the Health Research and Educational Trust, the average family health insurance policy now costs over $15,000 a year.

85 One study found that approximately 41 percent of working age Americans either have medical bill problems or are currently paying off medical debt.

84 An all-time record 49.9 million Americans do not have any health insurance at all at this point, and the percentage of Americans covered by employer-based health plans has fallen for 11 years in a row.

83 According to a report published in The American Journal of Medicine, medical bills are a major factor in more than 60 percent of the personal bankruptcies in the United States. Of those bankruptcies that were caused by medical bills, approximately 75 percent of them involved individuals that actually did have health insurance.

82 Average yearly tuition at U.S. private universities is now up to $27,293.

81 The cost of college tuition in the United States has gone up by over 900 percent since 1978.

80 In America today, approximately two-thirds of all college students graduate with student loans.

I been saying this since I was forced to plead guilt to a crime I didnt commit all I did was refuse to cooperate with the investigator and I was kind rude to him, I thought that would be covered under free speech as long as I didnt make any threats. Besides all that he already had all the evidence he needed to convict the guy. He just didnt like the lack of support I had for him. I guess it is a crime not to agree with the police. This happened in 2002. I learned much about how much power ordinary cops have over the courts and how little your word means up against a police man and a judge and how public defenders will sell you out to get a not guilty verdict for the rich guy paying him. I realized just how messed up our nation is after that. This dosnt shock me. I already knew I had no rights.

For helping me understand all the reasons why Mr. P is wrong for America.

[-] 3 points by PandoraK (1678) 12 years ago

I find the supporters of RP in their enthusiasm have a tendency to over state their case and do it frequently enough that any subject that is being discussed inevitably ends up being a pro vs con on RP, thus turning away many potential new supporters.

In other words RP supporters, chill out, you are turning people away from your candidate.

Now since this forum is NOT supposed to be a platform for the promotion and support of ANY political candidate, RP supporters, please cease and desist.

I am sure not many here know Dennis Kucinich nor challenge their gutfeelings and beliefsystems.

[-] 1 points by Dutchess (499) 12 years ago

You are obsessed with my posts. I find that rather hillarious especially in light of the fact you despise all the facts I have put in front of your face.

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 12 years ago

Don't post stuff then. I promise, I won't notice...........:)

It's not your facts I despise.

It's your Mr. P BS.

The libertarianess of it all.

[-] 0 points by Dutchess (499) 12 years ago

Its because...........your ignorance of history, knowledge, and the fact you cannot distinguish crony capitalism ( corporatism with our corrupt govt at the center) from free market capitalism ( where govt is to play the role of 1) oversight and 2) accountability).

Think of it this way...If we truly had free market capitalosm, guess whom would have gone out of business?

The very banks and corporations that were bailed with your taxdollars and have done nothing to invest it back into the American people.

the very banks you are now demonstrating against.

Please don't have me spell out the obvious next time.

[-] 2 points by shoozTroll (17632) 12 years ago

You see, I think you the one who is ignorant.

You still think there is a possibility of a 'free market'.

There isn't.

[-] 1 points by Dutchess (499) 12 years ago

And that is exactly what is dangerous. The indoctrination process that has happened in this country. Its been a long road..

Our Police state 2 hours and 20 minutes. at 18 minutes Congressman Brad Sherman on the threat our Reps received to push the bankbailout bill. I questioned MY Congresswoman on election night about this very topic!

I AM paying attention and have been for years.

this vid is full of executive orders, actual footage of our govt, footage of Congress. Dare to watch!

Police State 4: The Rise of FEMA Full Length

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Klqv9t1zVww

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 12 years ago

I've been aware of the police state since the late 60s.

Railed against it at every opportunity.

I'm also aware that the 'free market' is just a propaganda tool.

I've been aware of that since the 70s.

It took a while longer to fully understand the military, industrial, congressional complex.

It's still growing thanks mostly, although not exclusively, by the actions of the republican party, aided by neoliberal economics.

FEMA is just a natural outgrowth of that, as is the Pat. Act.

The latter is, in my opinion the most damaging.

[-] 1 points by Dutchess (499) 12 years ago

I saw police combat downtown tonight in combat gear.........police everwhere while there was solely a christmas/holday event going on. with parents, including myself taking their children to see Santa ........ I am telling you, Martial Law is next...it merely a matter of when..

But again you mistake crony capitalism ( corporatism) for free market...

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 12 years ago

There is not, nor can there ever be a free market.

It's not possible. So I mistake nothing.

[-] 1 points by Dutchess (499) 12 years ago

That basically translate into...there can not be 1) government oversight 2) equal access under the law 3) sound monetary policies!

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 12 years ago

That's your mistake, not mine.

[-] 1 points by Dutchess (499) 12 years ago

Mistake?

No it is well documented by scholars!

[-] 0 points by Dutchess (499) 12 years ago

You deserve the very government you have.

If you cannot find out 1) the facts and 2) choose a candidate independently from whom is voting for him or her, you are indeed a first class idiot!

So sick of this line of BS.

love it! Paul for president!
This anti-choice freak would imprison a raped woman who
had an abortion for how long?
and privatizing prisons like everything else is on his agenda
go Paul go! And your son, the eye doctor - is he state board certified?
No! you taught him well - privatized - he board certified himself.
And the name you picked for him - an author who virtually worshiped a child killing maniac.
classic!

[-] 0 points by Dutchess (499) 12 years ago

Actually, Ron Paul has performed abortions and is FOR the morning afterpill and abortion in case of rape and incest! He is however pro life but thinks that the ultimate decision should be left up to the people ( state and local govt ) and NOT the fed govt!

So many in the Dem party can't even support that!

So what is your point?

[-] 2 points by bensdad (8977) 12 years ago

Ok my reply without the sarcasm- I think he is one of the most honest people in Washington - and his anti-war stance is excellent - but I disagree with virtually everything else he says. Basically I see him as the president of libertarianism - which is the soul of self-centered megalomania and greed.

Back to the real me -

....decision should be left up to the people ( state and local govt ) and NOT the fed govt!
Yes, I'm one of those Democrats who believes that the people are NOT the
( state and local govt ) and want to control MY body - not yours

[-] 0 points by Dutchess (499) 12 years ago

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uHm4UF0EJWo

[-] 2 points by shoozTroll (17632) 12 years ago

You're tired of stupid people here?

Does that mean you're leaving?

Mr. P doesn't like me, my wife or my daughter, why should I like him?

His voting record is enough for me. I don't give a crap about the stuff he's been whining about for the last 30 years.

He hasn't done thing to prove he's honest.

[-] 0 points by Dutchess (499) 12 years ago

No, I am staying. But I am tired of stupid people like yourself harrassing my posts because you are here to 'safeguard' from people checking out the facts!

You don't have to like anybody. FYI it should be your constitutional right to vote whomever.

It is YOU harrassing my posts. NOT the other way around.

Gosh, one has to wonder WHY you seek my posts!

Oh and btw...he returned money to the Treasury from HIS district. Talking about honesty and talking about checking facts!

I now caught you wrong on two of your claims.

Next please!

[-] 2 points by shoozTroll (17632) 12 years ago

It would help if you stop pushing a republican tool like Mr. P.

You know, leave him out of it and just present you facts and opinions.

Why should I let you lie to innocents?

[-] 0 points by Dutchess (499) 12 years ago

No I am not because he is the ONLY candidate running who 1) has been fighting for civil liberties 2) to stop the wars 3) taking on the fed 4) addressing the national debt! ( just like Kucinich and Nader, who are NOT running)

You are the one lying by refusing the check out the facts I put up! and than pointing the finger to me!

[-] 2 points by shoozTroll (17632) 12 years ago

I have checked the facts.

Everything he backs, that I agree with, he backs for all the wrong reasons.

the word conspiracy merely means two people getting together and plan something illegal. Its what the CIA does best!

So stop using words when you don't understand its meaning!
