This country has already initiated acts of war against The Islamic Republic of Iran. The rulers of this country are pushing the world towards another catastrophe. They cite Iran now for culpability over 911. It's insane we can't discuss this on this website.

I never got banned. I had been using the moniker "alouis" until a more savvy poster pointed out how easily that moniker could be hijacked by changing the letter "l". The only problem I've had on this website is you so far as I know and not any moderator.

Can the two of you refrain from the irritating behaviors that the other one accuses you of? For example, Thrasymaque accuses TIOUAISE of following him and downvoting him and TIOUAISE accuses Thrasymaque of using bot attacks to downvote him. I saw evidences of repeated postings of the same comment, huge amount of duplicated graphical contents, and sudden fast downvoting of comments. There may not be enough evidences to prove beyond reasonable doubt that one party is guilty of what the other party accuses. However, both of you know what you yourselves have done. If you both PROMISE IN PUBLIC that you will refrain from the accused behaviors, we can all know to the extent of the sacred honor of your words that you ARE innocent of the accusation. Please make the promise in this thread.
I found the pollution and voting a minor irritation as I usually read many downvoted people's comments anyway and I simply close up the pollution if I found it objectionable. The worth of someone's thought is independent of how many votes they got. If people are distracted by the pollution and the votes, all of us will really deserve to wallow in our own hogwash. There is NOTHING wrong with that because it can be very ENJOYABLE for hogs.

Thrasymaque says that he is a French Canadian currently located in Indonesia. Also the very website we are on is owned by a Canadian residing in Vancouver.
Canada may have an interest in stirring up trouble for Wall Street so the very lucrative U.S. finance business can go north to Toronto or Montreal. Big cities have more optical-fiber links so spying on U.S. citizens will be more easily concealed and Canada speaks English, too, making it easier to recruit the listeners. Besides, the U.S. can trust Canada with "secrets" if something turns up, right?

The owner of the domain of this website used to be Kalle Lasn one of the founders of AdBusters the Canadian magazine which gave the idea to start the Occupy protests back on June 14th. The domain occupywallstr.org was registered the next day under Lasn's name.
It seems the domain has since changed hands. The whois information now indicates that the owner is in California.
The server is in US.
Now, you can craft a conspiracy theory with this information. Enjoy!

Yes, this case had accumulated much negative karma that all interested parties can see. Promoting logic and the scientific method need to be supplemented with some tolerance for others' upbringings and peculiar viewpoints. I found some people's ways irritating but I decided to read large number of comments instead. After a while, the irritation is diluted to insignificance by the law of large numbers. Some people are simply NEVER going to learn logic and the scientific method so let it be and let it go. Those who truly belong will come back.
I'll let it go when he stops stalking me and comparing me to a nazi. I just collapse those comments so it doesn't bother other users. I'm not defacing threads anymore. No sorry i disagree me and many others have been banned for little to nothing here. People know the high score ones are one of two things accepted by the gate keepers or censored to banned by said gate keepers. We all know especially the ones here from the beginning. That's why the visitors numbers to the site has dropped so much.
Everyone agrees that many of our best contributors have disappeared from the forum. Many left because of Thrasymaques shenanigans. Some have even written that "Thrasymaque destroyed the OWS forum".

Look at the bottom of this thread 10 thumbs down in a second. I could care less about my score but it is used as a censorship tool and you know it.
Perhaps we should just do away with these scores altogether, as they just become a distraction, when we should be focused on the merits of an argument or call to action. I wasn't even aware of them until somebody pointed out, at one point, that my comments were being voted down, and I liked it better when I wasn't aware of them. They create a sort of implicit competition which I think goes against the basic principals of this movement.
I agree and have discussed the idea of removing points and usernames with jart. I believe we should be encouraged to reply to comments only, and not to points or usernames. The latter is a logical fallacy.
Alternatively, you can use the Javascript layer I created if you want to ignore certain users, and the karma points of all users.

The rating comes from the amount of new content. once the site stops getting new content, it will begin to fall in rank. There are several forums for occupy on the web, they have a lower rank because they have a slower turnout. They have a slower turn out because instead of people using those other forums, people get addicted to this site for the same reason people watch violent movies, negative stimulus is better than no stimulus. It's a very good example of human behavior and the resulting structures. If you had the self awareness to not get dragged into the same pitfalls of human nature, you would be on other forums instead of letting this one get you so worked up, but that wouldn't be very exciting.
I tried some of the other forums, but I didn't like their format. I love this site because the comments and replies are very easy to read. I hate forums that group discussions into categories then make you surf through a bunch of pages if you want to see all the comments of a given posting.

The voting is from Thrasy. It's what he does to get under peoples skin. Treat the trolls as children, they have about the same level of maturity. If you continue to react to a kid doing bad things to gain attention, what will they do? they will continue to do it. Just ignore them, they'll get bored and move on. I actually support the movement - I've been active in protesting issues related to human rights since 1998.
I have a website full of dissident poetry, I spend my own money keeping it up, and it generates no revenue. It provides a means on this forum to know who I am in some detail - something that is not possible with most other users here.
I'm not an anarchist - is that your problem? If it is I can't imagine why - after all, I don't have a problem with anarchists - I just don't accept the theory that it can work on a mass scale. So what?
I also don't buy the idea that we must attack both political parties at the same time - especially not during a Presidential election year. There are carefully thought out tactical reasons for what I advocate.

I don't know what to think of trashy . . . he/she hasn't defaced any of my posts - but I have seen posts defaced, and I have seen trashy admit to defacing them - one of his/her chief complaints is with conspiracy theorists -
all in all I don't know what to think on this issue really. And I'm not sure how important it is overall.
I know you two have gone round and round . . . and I know trashy has stated that the movement is something he/she does not support.
I have a general issue with that itself - folks who don't support the movement should be allowed to post what they think, it's valuable information.
Providing a platform for the demise of this forum is in my view counterproductive - and in my view defacing forum posts is just that.

the lack of clarity around who each of us is does provide an excellent opportunity to hide who we are and what we are up to. Much of that information would be made clearer with access to the server data.
But like I said - without real revenue, site design and forum moderation has got to be a serious challenge.
I don't know what to say - accept that I think this issue is much bigger than just trashy, and I'm not sure that this forum is positioned to actually address it.
