via interoccupy.net:

With all the global actions and uprisings happening this month, along with all the projects and work that Occupy has already been doing – maintaining strong communication channels is getting increasingly more important.

It is also getting to be a lot more work! We need your help!

InterOccupy is putting out a call for people who want to help maintain strong communication with us for the movement. Whatever level of time commitment you can afford would help! We have tasks large and small that we need help with. It could even be just an hour per month if that’s what you can spare!

We are also working directly with folks at Take the Square International and Peoples Assemblies Network (PAN).

Just some of the things we could use some help with include:

  • Website and Occupy.net tools administration
  • Writing
  • Programming/coding
  • Design (Web or Print)
  • Building WordPress sites
  • Phone Banking
  • Call Facilitation
  • Social Media
  • PR
  • Legal Services
  • Accounting
  • News curation
  • Tabling and outreach events

click here to let us know you can help

By the way, We love this recent article that so clearly explains why maintaining the network is so vital!

We at InterOccupy seek to foster communication between individuals, Working Groups and local General Assemblies, across the movement. We do this in the spirit of the Occupy Movement and general assemblies which use direct democratic and horizontal decision-making processes in service to the interests of the 99%.

For what it's worth I am in the process of creating a consolidated list of alternative media outlets. This includes a section for many Occupy Wall Street web sites so that people can find many affiliates and supporters easier. I have found a few other lists including one relatively brief one at the OWS site which is listed on the page and another one that is longer by boiling frogs. If you have a more comprehensive list or more that can be added please let me know. If not I'll chip away at it and anyone can use it if they see fit. It is on a Wiki so if anyone has sites that they think should be added from OWS or not they don't have to ask. It is at the following location.

Hope it helps.

Look, obviously the first reality is to make sure the Republicans are totally wiped out at the election, except for Ron Paul.OWS needs to get it`s political act together.End the Fed.

Progressives lack the support of the media: the six major networks on TV provide us little coverage; rather they support either the Democrats or Republicans, both parties owned by Corporate America. No wonder: the media are owned by major corporations.

Even so-called Progressive blogs are really Democratic Party shrills, including the democraticunderground, thedailykos, myfiredoglake, current, etc.

I was banned from all of the above blogs: I attacked Obama's corporate policies.

Hmmm.There is a set pattern:

  1. The would-be leader folds hands and begs for vote from public
  2. Public vote and the leader comes in force
  3. The leader occupies treasury, military, etc. and creates a slavery-belt called policies
  4. Enslaved public reacts
  5. Leader sends military to enforce policies on public who trusted and voted the leader in
  6. Public live unhappily ever after

Winston Churchill said, "The people of a country can be understood via the leader." Blind people vote blind leader. Seer people vote seer leader. So, we must learn to see first. Corrosive to mind but Churchill spoke the truth!

This forum is also an Obama forum. You'll get attacked by the regular users here if you protest against Obama, they'll call you a republicon.

[-] 1 points by Karlin (350) from Nelson, BC 11 years ago

I don't see it that way - I keep posting about Reps and Dems being "no choice - two sides of the same coin" stuff. Keep posting, eyes are opening, it is difficult for some because they trusted the two party system for so long. Keep working it man, we will get it done.

You haven't run into DKAtoday or VQkag2 yet? They are regulars here, and they support Obama. They're from a team called Partisan Powers. Some of them, like zendog, even volunteer for the Obama party on their weekends.

I have seen some of those names, we banter a bit... But keep in mind that they are not against you, we are all here for OWS.

Yes, we need concentration on the coordination of communication channels. We need to look at so-called social media as actually Global Media as now what we transmit over the Internet is not exclusive to any one society for it to be considered social media.

Even though Facebook is also a CIA/NSA Data Mining Operation we can still utilize it for our political-social-economic purposes. Plus, we need to utilize Google+ too.

Even Comments on YouTube Videos can help raise awareness, stimulate dialogue and enhance our analyses. No one has the corner on truth.

FOSH

Don't use SMS style acronyms young teenage girls use if you don't know what they mean.

  1. FOSH mistakenly used as a acronym meaning FUCK OFF SHIT HEAD by kewanee high school faculty members of kewanee IL. It actually is derived from for sure, but those idiots don't know anything.

You should stay off chat sites for young teenage girls, it has an negative influence on your writing. Don't look for love in all the wrong places.

[-] -2 points by JackTG (-194) 11 years ago

Are these positions paid? I'm asking because Occupy accepts donations, so I assume these are shared amongst the people working for the movement. We all need to feed ourselves.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Why don't you click the links and ask them or send an inquiry to the site e-mail address?

BTW - Go back to the top of the post and you will see that they are looking for volunteers. That should answer your question.

[-] 0 points by JackTG (-194) 11 years ago

I'm replying directly to the news item so that everyone can see the answer. If these people care about communication, I'm sure they will answer comments published to their news article. Don't you think? What's the point of having a commenting section here if the writers of articles don't even provide any feedback? Why should I have to use another form of communication when we already have this one?

BTW - Go back to the top of the post and you will see that they are looking for volunteers. That should answer your question.

Where does it say that? I don't see it.

[-] 2 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

It is also getting to be a lot more work! We need your help!

InterOccupy is putting out a call for people who want to help maintain >strong communication with us for the movement. Whatever level of time >commitment you can afford would help! We have tasks large and small >that we need help with. It could even be just an hour per month if that’s >what you can spare!

Comprende?

[-] -2 points by JackTG (-194) 11 years ago

Yes, they have a lot of work and need help. Nothing there says they don't wish to share occupy donations to pay for that help. Help doesn't necessarily equal no pay. Some people don't have time because they are busy with more than one job.

I think you have difficulty understanding my friend.

I asked a simple question and I hope the writers of the article will answer it. You certainly haven't.

[-] 2 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Yes I have - you are to lazy to contact them directly to have your question answered - and you blame them if they don't get back to you. As they are looking for communications help it seems that you are being dense. Purposely? Why should you care if you get paid or not if you're helping all of Occupy(?) = end result = the people = end result = U 2.

[-] -2 points by JackTG (-194) 11 years ago

I asked the question here so that everybody could read the answer. This site is a direct form of communication, it's just not private like email. I don't see this as being dense in the least. Why are there comment boxes if the article writers don't read them. I thought this site was made for communication, are you saying it isn't?

Why should you care if you get paid or not if you're helping all of Occupy?

If I am paid I can help more. I have to eat. Occupy receives donations, so I'm simply wondering if those are used to pay for help. I am not an old man like you receiving a pension. I am young and must work to pay my food.

[-] 2 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Then how can you afford to be here? All day every day. R U saying that you R a Paid troll? Shouldn't U B looking 4 Work?

If I am paid I can help more. I have to eat. Occupy receives donations, so I'm simply wondering if those are used to pay for help. I am not an old man like you receiving a pension. I am young and must work to pay my food.

[-] -2 points by JackTG (-194) 11 years ago

I'm only here a short time everyday. I used this site 20 minutes today. Stop being ridiculous. I'd love to have a nice pension like you and spend my days in bed using this site, but I have other things to do.

My question is a fair one that pertains to this posting. The only one off topic here is you. You came here to pollute this page with your nonsense. It seems to me like you're starting to be senile.

Don't you have letters to the president to tweet around?

[-] 2 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

U asked the question here so that everyone would read it ( CORRECT ) so you could promote trouble over a meaningless issue.

[-] -2 points by JackTG (-194) 11 years ago

What trouble? It's a fair question. Does Occupy not accept donations? If these are used to pay people wanting to help, then a person can help more. It's as simple as that. If there is no pay I could only donate a few hours a week at the most, if there is a pay I could donate up to 20 hours or more. My question pertains directly to this posting. The only one causing trouble here is you.

[-] 2 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

U try 2 B so slick - slick like grass through a goose. You raise an issue that should not be an issue for any volunteer. Everyone who is interested can ask when they make contact at the link provided. Trashy trashy trashy - U will always be the sly slick pile of shit on this forum won't U ?

[-] -2 points by JackTG (-194) 11 years ago

Asking here is better since everyone can see the answer. It saves the time of the writers who would have to repeat answers to the same questions if they were asked via private email. This is the whole purpose of this forum. Haven't you figured that out yet?

Go tweet some letters to the president or something instead of polluting this forum page.

[-] 2 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

People need to make contact any way - whether they are looking for a paid position or not - that is - if they are interested in helping/volunteering.

[-] -2 points by JackTG (-194) 11 years ago

Yes, and this page is here for that. This forum is a communication tool. Don't you know that? I'm here making contact by asking questions in a public forum which can and hopefully will be answered by those who wrote the article. Again, asking questions here instead of private emails saves them time because they only need to answer questions one time. Don't you understand that?

Now, go tweet a letter to the president and stop polluting this page.

BS

[-] -2 points by JackTG (-194) 11 years ago

What's BS? That Occupy accepts donations? That paying someone means they will be able to provide more time than if they are not paid?

[-] 2 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

U R BS.

In answer to your 1st lame question : Go back to the top of the post and you will see that they are looking for volunteers. That should answer your question.

In answer to your 2nd lame question : They are looking for help to keep communications strong as they are incredibly busy - or for U - they are being overworked from lack of help.

Comprehend?

[-] -2 points by JackTG (-194) 11 years ago

I understand they are overworked, but it's not clear they are looking for volunteers. This site has a donation button, and Occupy also accepts donations in the streets, so I assume these are shared amongst those who help. No?

I would be glad to contribute some help. However, I won't do it out of principle if some people are paid with donations, and others not. If nobody is paid then it's OK by me.
